“I cannot recommend Annie enough! This was my first time leaving my dog Zeus with her, and I was completely at ease the entire time. She and her husband are incredibly kind people who clearly have a passion for dogs. I received frequent messages and photo updates, which I appreciated so much. Best of all, my dog got along with theirs—it was like a little vacation for him, too! I will absolutely be booking with her again in the future. If you’re looking for a sitter who treats your dog like their own, look no further. Annie is fantastic.”

“Thank you Elaina and Joseph for allowing me to book with a short notice and for being very flexible with dropoff and pickup times. Communication was excellent, constant updates and pictures, and great care. You'll definitely be my sitter of choice when I'm in the area. Thank you!!”

About: My husband I both grew up with golden retrievers and have a soft spot for them. When I was first out on my own and bought my first home, I rescued a pit bull and she was with me until she passed. My husband, sons and I are all dog lovers and would love to welcome your dog into our home. My husband is home full time and I work from home and we are anxious to care for your pet! We have 2 sons - ages 6 and 10, so kid-friendly dogs are a must. We are available any day of the week at any time, unless we have something specific planned (which is not often). Please feel free to ask about specific dates and times and I will be sure to add you to my calendar! My husband is home full time and I work from home so we have ample amounts of time to care for your pet. My 2 sons LOVE dogs and love to play and take dogs on walks. Our yard is unfenced, per our HOA rules so your pet will always be on a leash for potty breaks and walks around the neighborhood. Pets are free to explore the entire home and will not be crated or gated, unless a crate is provided and requested.

“My baby boi loves going to see Tony's family and has been several times. What I love is that Thompson gets excited when we pull up as he wants to go play with his friends. I'll continue to rebook and only great things to say!”

“Elisa was the BEST dog sitter for my pup, Penny. I was caught in a bind and needed a sitter for my 6 month old puppy at the last minute. Elisa took such good care of her, and kept me up to date on how she was doing throughout her stay. She felt so comfortable knowing Penny was in good hands and felt safe with Elisa. I will definitely reach out to Elisa the next time I need a sitter! I can't thank her enough!”

“Karina and Edwin were so wonderful with our dogs and we were so happy knowing they were well taken care of while we traveled. We received lots of pics and the communication was great! Bear and Suzie can’t wait to return for their next stay!”

About: I have been a dog owner for 20 years, I currently have a Belgian Tervuren puppy who would love the company. I have 1/2 acre fenced in yard. I am home during the day and evening. Dogs can play outside or come inside if they would like. I would be happy to board your dog and make sure they are comfortable coming here. I work at home so pets would be not a problem as I can tend to them al all times. During the evening I can play with them and interact with the dogs so they feel comfortable. I have a 1/2 acre fenced in yard as well as security cameras so that I can monitor the yard at all times. The dogs love running around in my yard.
“Melody was fabulous. Can’t say enough great things about her. She sent multiple pics and kept us updated. Our pup was very happy and quite thrilled to stay with her! Would recommend to anyone:)”
About: In addition to my own dogs, I have also owned cats of my own in the past, giving me years of firsthand experience with feline care. This personal background fits perfectly with the routine care I provide for my sister’s animals whenever she goes on vacation four times a year. I take complete charge of her four dogs—three Miniature Pomeranians and a Goldendoodle—and have even cared for their puppies in my home on two separate occasions while she was out of town. My responsibilities for her also include looking after her cats, ensuring they are properly fed, and keeping their litter boxes clean. This extensive, hands-on experience with multi-pet households, puppies, and feline care has made me highly adept at maintaining safety, routines, and a nurturing environment for animals of all ages and types. I'm pretty open as I'm a special education teacher and off in the summer. I have free time and I'm flexible. I would love to make extra money doing what I love. I care for them as I would my own children. We are all in the same area as a family. Pets are free to roam the house and I have a fenced in yard.
“Brianna was amazing with our little special needs older pup. He has medical needs, blind and overall high maintenance and Brianna treated him such TLC. In fact, she went above and beyond trying to find the right toys for him to keep him engaged. I felt very comfortable knowing he was in good hands. I would highly recommend Brianna.”

“We had a wonderful experience with our dog sitter Vianeth! She was incredibly responsive, accepted our dogs on short notice, and made the entire process stress-free. She kept us updated with photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear our dogs were well cared for and happy. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter. We will definitely book with her again!”
“Dickson was absolutely wonderful with Zeus and our puppy, Gaia. We received pictures and videos throughout out vacay and we did not worry about the doggies at all. The big back yard was wonderful for them to run around. We will definitely be using Dickson again.”

“Lorena is absolutely WONDERFUL! She will be my first choice from now on. I could tell she really loved my girl Fiona while I was away and did everything to make Fiona happy. Fiona came home happy, healthy, safe, and with a new friend. I can't thank you enough!”

“Sudhakar took care of our Buddy like his own, we get updates from him everyday with pictures of how he is doing and we felt that he genuinely cares. We will For sure keep his name for the next time. Thanks a lot Sudhakar!!!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
