“Being military and having to travel often, she’s always available and happy to take my girls in. My babies love coming here, I think they are more excited when we pull up than when we’re leaving. There’s no other sitter I would rather leave my kids with! 10/10 recommend!”

“Thanks to Rusty, I was at ease traveling for a few days with the dogs in his care. Rusty has a dog-friendly space indoors and out and was attentive to the dogs’ individual personality traits and needs. This was the first time I’ve left them with a sitter and both dogs responded well and appeared comfortable. It’s a huge relief to know that Rusty is available to care for my dogs if I need to be away.”

“She took such good care of my puppy, she was in constant communication and sent pictures almost daily. She super spoiled my baby and he had a blast the whole time! She even went above and beyond and took him to be groomed at her shop.”

“Karina and Edwin were so wonderful with our dogs and we were so happy knowing they were well taken care of while we traveled. We received lots of pics and the communication was great! Bear and Suzie can’t wait to return for their next stay!”

“Gage was an awesome sitter during our two week stay in California. I was a bit nervous to leave Kannon for two weeks, but leaving him with Gage put my mind at ease. Gage was flexible with pick- up and drop-off times, making the experience much easier for me. He sent messages and pictures daily without me asking , which I appreciate. I have used several sitters and Gage is the best by far! The constant communication put my mind at ease and I’ll definitely recommend Gage to anyone who wants a sitter to care for their dog like his own. I can’t rave enough about Gage and I’ll definitely request his services again in the near future!”

“We would highly recommend Shalyn and Joe to anyone looking to have their dog looked after. They responded promptly to any concerns we had and we received daily photos and updates on how our Pixie was doing.”

“Sunshine was amazing. I don’t think my dog even missed me. He was spoiled. Sunshine has 2 amazing children who obviously love dogs. You can’t go wrong leaving your dog with Sunshine. We hope to use her again.”

“My pup Pickles had the best stay. Flexible pick up and drop off. She sent multiple updates. It feels good to leave your pup with some one you know you can trust. Deidre is the best!”

“Zeni loves being with Tommy and Julie. They’re very sweet and dedicated to my pup and are always available for my short notice visits. They bathed him before I picked him up after being with them for almost a week! Big shout out to them!!!”

“She was amazing and so easygoing considering it was last minute and over the holiday weekend. She treated Bowie like one of her own and we will definitely consider her again!!!”

“Mary and Norm were the absolute best dog sitters! We left our 12 year old Shihtzu with them and he was treated so well. We got daily updates and knew he was in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Our dogs had an excellent stay with JoAnne. They were loved on and treated like part of the family. I truly felt like I’d left them in the caring hands of friends. She sent us several pictures of them throughout the week with reports of the fun they were having and didn’t seem to have any trouble with their weird quirks of barking at the tv or cowering at thunder. I would definitely book here again and recommend to all my friends with dogs.”

“Hannah was amazing with our 9‑month‑old puppy, Romeo! She took such good care of him, made sure he was fed on time, and went out of her way to keep him comfortable and happy while we were gone. She kept sending us the cutest pics and videos, which really helped us relax on our trip. Romeo clearly had the best time with her, and we’ll definitely be booking her again every time we need boarding for Romeo. Highly recommend her to any friends looking for a super sweet and reliable pet sitter!”

“This was my first time leaving my 6 month old puppy. Carla made the whole process very easy and pleasant. We first did a meet and greet. I knew right then and there that the reviews I had been reading were spot on. I loved the idea that my puppy was going to be with other dogs. Perfect for socializing him. I also was appreciative that my pup was in a familiar situation as home. Carla texted me everyday with videos. Which made this whole experience easier for myself. Don’t hesitate on using Carla as she really is that great!!”

About: My husband I both grew up with golden retrievers and have a soft spot for them. When I was first out on my own and bought my first home, I rescued a pit bull and she was with me until she passed. My husband, sons and I are all dog lovers and would love to welcome your dog into our home. My husband is home full time and I work from home and we are anxious to care for your pet! We have 2 sons - ages 6 and 10, so kid-friendly dogs are a must. We are available any day of the week at any time, unless we have something specific planned (which is not often). Please feel free to ask about specific dates and times and I will be sure to add you to my calendar! My husband is home full time and I work from home so we have ample amounts of time to care for your pet. My 2 sons LOVE dogs and love to play and take dogs on walks. Our yard is unfenced, per our HOA rules so your pet will always be on a leash for potty breaks and walks around the neighborhood. Pets are free to explore the entire home and will not be crated or gated, unless a crate is provided and requested.
“Melissa did an amazing job boarding my cats over the Christmas holidays. Timely updates and cuddles were provided to me and my cats respectively. Highly recommend & appreciated.”

“Anna was fantastic with our labradoodle Ollie! She is attentive and kind. Ollie seemed so relaxed and happy to spend the weekend. We will book her again very soon!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
