“Very happy with your service Jessica! Macie wears a special tracking collar so we don't ever lose her. But we can see she must have had good walks and play time with 30k steps the first day she 31k the 2nd day. The only other time we boarded her was at a professional kennel where she had a max of 800 steps for one day. So huge difference. Thank you! The pics were greatly appreciated as well! Would definitely recommend you.”

“She was great! We got daily updates with photos and videos of our dog playing and running outside. She was very nice and kept in contact which we appreciated. Our dog, Mona, seemed satisfied too :)”

“Sabrina was great! she took amazing care of my Grim and was easy to communicate with! She sent updates throughout the stay along with pictures, would definitely recommend and book again!!”

“Kelsey was absolutely amazing! I was in a tough spot — I was getting married and the friend who was supposed to watch my dog, Inc, canceled last minute. I had no one lined up and was pretty stressed. I did a meet-and-greet with Kelsey and her husband, and right away I felt completely comfortable. They were both so kind and welcoming, and their home was perfect for Inc. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Kelsey went above and beyond, and I had total peace of mind on such an important day. If I could give her more than five stars, I absolutely would! I will definitely be using her again in the future.”

“Our dogs had a great time and Chisato treated them like her own. We got tons of pictures and videos of them enjoying their walks and pets while we were on vacation. Will definitely book with her again.”

“We had such a wonderful experience with Heather and Bernie's stay! She was incredibly patient, kind, and caring, and it was clear from the start that she genuinely loves animals. We received plenty of updates and photos throughout his stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. The best sign of all was that Bernie didn't even want to leave when we picked him up! That told us everything we needed to know about how comfortable and happy he was. We would absolutely trust her with Bernie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, loving dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our boy!”

“JoAnne is amazing! She is so good with our dogs and they clearly have a great time there. She sent pictures every day and it really helped seeing how happy our dogs were. She was completely understanding when our flight got cancelled which made the whole ordeal a little better knowing our fur babies were in great hands. We will absolutely use JoAnne again.”

“As a first-time (and nervous) client of Rover, I cannot recommend Kim and Her Husband highly enough! They took excellent care of my dog, Mavis, while I was away for a week. They were punctual, attentive, and very flexible when my return flight was delayed. It was a big inconvenience but they graciously accommodated Mavis and the additional time needed. Every day, I received updates and photos, which really put my mind at ease while I was 1000+ miles away. Kim even went the extra mile by administering medication and adjusting Mavis's food to ensure she ate healthy. My dog came home happy and healthy, and I couldn't be more thankful and grateful. If you're looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter, look no further than Kim! 5 Stars!!”

“Thank you Judy for an outstanding experience for our beloved dog and for all of us. Your love and caring for Tesla was so wonderful. You communicated twice a day with pictures and updates and they were detailed and reassuring. We really looked forward to our mini chats. Your responsiveness was also great. We knew we could reach you at any time, not that we needed to 😊. You also provided a safe and happy environment for him and he loved being in your home. He was a truly contented pup while he was with you. Words cannot express how grateful we are to you, for providing a home away from home for our dog. Thanks also for grooming him and keeping him in a tip top condition. We cannot say enough about the wonderful service and care you provided. We enjoyed our vacation so much more knowing he was in the best care we could have arranged for him. Thanks again and any dog is lucky to have a home with you while their owners need to be away. We certainly were. I cannot recommend you enough. You are truly the best!!!! 🐕💕🙏🥰”

“Knowing I had to be out of town in August for one week, I began searching for a reliable and qualified dog sitter for my 5-year-old pug early in the summer. Not just any sitter would do! I reached out to friends who enthusiastically recommended Dee and rover.com. Dee had cared for my friend's large dog many times and our friends were very pleased. During the initial meet & greet, I could easily see that Dee was a dog lover and someone who took her role as a dog sitter very seriously. She wanted to know about our pug's routines, personality, and special needs. I liked that Dee cared for just one dog at a time and had a fenced in yard. Dee was very personable and showed a genuine interest in my concerns. I felt comfortable at Dee's place and so did my pug. Without hesitation, I booked a week with Dee through rover.com. My pug, Penny, was well cared during her week at Dee's place. When I dropped her off, Dee took the time to go over the notes I had written and specific instructions pertaining to Penny's care. I really appreciated the daily updates: text messages, photos, and videos. Rover.com made it easy to communicate with Dee and the app is user friendly. The daily communications reassured me that my pug was doing well! Whenever I had questions, Dee answered in a timely manner. Dee is a sitter who will love and care for your dog like he/she was her own pet and I would definitely book with her again! Dee, thank you so much for taking such good care of Penny, even with her anxiety, quirks, and unique pug behaviors. Thank you for taking the time and effort to communicate with us on a daily basis. We appreciate everything you did!”

“Higgins loved his time with Carolyn. She is amazing and took great care of our boy. from frequent walks, daily updates and lots of pictures she keeps in close contact during the stay. We found a gem!!!”

“Edwin and his wife were amazing! It was our puppy’s first time being boarded while we were away, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The home is so lovely, with a nice fenced yard for playtime. We got many pics and videos of our pup, who had a great time at Edwin’s. Thank you!”

“If you want your pet to feel like they are home - this is it. Can't say enaugh good things about Melissa. Not only she rescued me with last moment stay but gave my dog most amazing care!”

“Dickson was absolutely wonderful with Charlie! He sent frequent videos and photo updates, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. Charlie is 12 years old and diabetic, she stayed on her eating schedule and received her insulin shots on time — Dickson handled everything perfectly and with such care. I felt completely comfortable knowing she was safe, happy, and enjoying time playing in his fenced backyard. You can truly tell he loves animals and treats them like family. This was such a great experience, and I will absolutely have Charlie stay with him any time. Highly recommend Dickson to any friends or family looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!!”

About: My husband I both grew up with golden retrievers and have a soft spot for them. When I was first out on my own and bought my first home, I rescued a pit bull and she was with me until she passed. My husband, sons and I are all dog lovers and would love to welcome your dog into our home. My husband is home full time and I work from home and we are anxious to care for your pet! We have 2 sons - ages 6 and 10, so kid-friendly dogs are a must. We are available any day of the week at any time, unless we have something specific planned (which is not often). Please feel free to ask about specific dates and times and I will be sure to add you to my calendar! My husband is home full time and I work from home so we have ample amounts of time to care for your pet. My 2 sons LOVE dogs and love to play and take dogs on walks. Our yard is unfenced, per our HOA rules so your pet will always be on a leash for potty breaks and walks around the neighborhood. Pets are free to explore the entire home and will not be crated or gated, unless a crate is provided and requested.

About: As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve had the joy of raising two dogs from puppies, giving me firsthand experience with everything from potty training and basic training to the high energy and patience that young dogs require. I have been dog sitting for friends & family in Michigan & Illinois for 3 years now. In my professional life, I’m an Occupational Therapist who works with older adults. I regularly help residents safely care for and enjoy time with their beloved pets, so I’m experienced in recognizing changes in behavior, adapting to individual needs, and providing calm, attentive care. I’m also comfortable with senior dogs who may need a slower pace. Because I’m young and active, I love getting outside for walks, playtime, and adventures that help energetic dogs stay happy and engaged. Whether your pup wants a long walk, a game of fetch, or just lots of cuddles and companionship, I’ll tailor my care to their personality and routine. My goal is to treat every dog as if they were my own, so you can feel confident they’re safe, loved, and having a great time while you’re away! I work a normal 9-5 Monday-Friday. Therefore I prefer to do Friday afternoon-Sunday evening stays! This way I am available 24/7 for the pet. I have a fenced in yard (that is also dig proof). I currently have one very friendly dog who would be eager to any pups companion. My dog is allowed on furniture/in beds. We have a lot of sidewalks & trails within our neighborhood for walks. I have multiple security cameras.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
