“We are very pleased with the love and care given to our Lexxie. The pictures sent throughout the days helped us get through our journey seeing our little girl. We would definitely return for future pet care and are very happy Lexxie was happy most of all. Thank you so much!!!!!”

“Tommy and Julie were great. They watched my two dogs for six days and provided me with updates and videos multiple times per day. It was clear my boys were safe, happy, and loved while there. Will definitely be working with Tommy and Julie in the future when I have to leave town!”

“Jean is caring and very attentive to my dog. She gave multiple updates throughout his time there and paid attention to his behavior and asked questions. Very highly recommended”

“JoAnne is amazing! She is so good with our dogs and they clearly have a great time there. She sent pictures every day and it really helped seeing how happy our dogs were. She was completely understanding when our flight got cancelled which made the whole ordeal a little better knowing our fur babies were in great hands. We will absolutely use JoAnne again.”

“Melody was nothing but wonderful with our sweet but highly anxious dog. She does a meet & greet prior to the date of drop off to get your dog comfortable and more familiar with her home - this made us feel very reassured she would be in good hands. Melody gave us daily updates with the best pictures and videos of our pup…who could not have looked happier!! Would recommend her & will be using her again in the future!”

“Diana was great with my retriever Penny. Wasn't sure how it would go since Penny is a rescue with separation anxiety and I've only left her once with a sitter, in my house. But Diana was super understanding and patient with her. Good sized back yard that Penny loved to run around in and play catch, and Penny seemed quite comfortable with them when I picked her up. Would absolutely board with her again.”

“Dickson really cares about my dog Arlo! Although Arlo was very anxious and nervous, he quickly warmed up to Dickson. I can tell Dickson is very passionate about caring for dogs.”

“We were really happy with our decision to have Monica care for our two dogs during a weekend away. She was super responsive, flexible, and accommodating and it was obvious she loves animals and took very good care of them. Her house is very clean with lots of places for the dogs to relax, and her fenced backyard was perfect for playtime. Highly recommend!”

“Like you, I am a picky dog owner. I was thrilled to have found Jill on Rover.com. She lived very close to me actually, and I would not have known without this site! She was very friendly, with a clean and dog-friendly house. She had 2 fun dogs of her own, and within minutes, they seemed to bond quickly with my older girl. Jill sent me photos and updates of my dog while in her care, and was very accommodating when it came to giving pills and treats. I will be booking Jill any chance I have to need a dog sitter, and would recommend her highly to anyone looking for a good vacation spot for their fur-baby! A very good first experience for me on here! Annette and "Biscuit"”
“Carla did a great job watching and taken care of our dog Lizzo while we were out of town. She always provided amazing updates, photographs and videos of our pet, so we had a peace of mind. Lizzo seemed very happy and comfortable at her home. She play with her two dogs, especially her sweet heart Stella. At night, Lizzo slept with Carla. We are luck to have her because Carla really went above and beyond to take care of our dog. She is very trust worthy and caring and definitely recommend her.”

“Jayne took great care of Moxie. I travel a lot for work and being new to NYC and not knowing anyone I have to rely on Rover to find responsible people to love and care for my dog like I do. I got photo updates at least 2-3 times a day of Jayne taking Moxie out on walks, playing with her in the house, and of Moxie relaxing comfortably in Jayne's home. I could tell that she was well cared for and in good hands. Jayne reached out with questions about her eating habits and also had to deal with a lot of walks in cold and rainy weather, so I knew Moxie was in good hands. Jayne was very responsive when I reached out to her for updates. I would absolutely trust Jayne again with my dear Jack Russell Terrier.”

“This was my first time leave my dog Bruce anywhere other than my house. He can be a little anxious, so we were nervous to do this, but gave it a shot considering all the positive reviews Dee had. Dee updated us several times a day with messages and pictures/ videos of Bruce, which helped us relax because he looked happy at her house. Dee was very responsive to messages when we replied and we will be booking again for future trips if she is available!!”

“Judy is amazing! She made our dog right at home. She also sent daily pictures so that we could see what our pup was up to while we were on vacation. I would highly recommend Judy to anyone.”

“Jennifer was great and we will certainly use her again. She communicates regularly and really loves our dogs. This is the first time we used an app to find someone to take care of our pups. It will not be the last. If I could give more than five stars, I would!”

“Christine is an excellent sitter, and I look forward to booking her again. My dog, Bentley, is my world and this was the first time, he was going to stay with a non-relative. I was nervous how he would do, but after returning from my vacay, I brought home a happy & healthy dog. His overall demeanor was enough for me to know that he was well taken care of and looked after. Also, Christine’s dog, Chloe is a sweet gentle gal, and it was easy for Bentley who has only-child syndrome to get along with her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hainesville
My dogs had a wonderful time staying with Angela and her family. The younger one especially played with her dogs from morning to night, and came home good and tired. Angela sent both pictures and video so I could see how they were doing. I didn’t worry about them the entire time. Thank you Angela and family!
Our experience was wonderful. Our dog had the best time staying with Jordan, getting lots of love, interactions, and playtime. Jordan made it really easy for us to have a relaxing vacation, knowing that our dog was taken care of. Our pup (and family) is so glad to have found a new friend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
