“We had a great experience with Meghan! Freddy was happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of attention while we were away. Communication was excellent throughout the stay, and we really appreciated the updates and photos. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands and would happily book again.”

“Thank you so much for taking such great care of Veera! You looked after him wonderfully, and we really appreciated your prompt responses to all our questions. We felt at ease knowing he was in good hands. Highly recommend your pet care services!”

“Jessica is fantastic! She took our pup to the park and on her errands which made him very happy. Very communicative too the entire time with photos and videos. And she takes excellent photos to boot!”

“This review has been long overdue. Bruno has been with Marta atleast on 3 different occasions now and each time he has been well cared for. He is a very active dog and gets lot of playtime in the backyard. Bruno has issues with his eating habits and Marta has made sure he doesn't skip meals. For all the stays, she has kept me updated about each day and sent a lot of pics. When our flight was delayed she was understanding and flexible with pickup timings. All in all, Bruno is loved at Martas place and he looks forward to his visits there. We feel comfortable dropping him there, knowing he gets lot of love and attention.”

“Thea we can’t thank you enough for taking such good care of Lando!! We received very thorough updates each day with lots of pictures. Lando loved hanging out on the patio and got to go on plenty of walks while in Thea’s care. She successfully administered antibiotics and helped him adjust to his stay. 10/10 would book with Thea again :)”

“Missey was an absolutely fantastic host! We left our 6 year old Dachshund, Cole, over at Missey's for 4 days and he had a blast. Once I had my meet & greet with Missey, I felt as though Cole was in great hands. We received daily picture updates and Youtube videos of Cole throughout his stay which really put our mind at east. Once we had agreed to have Cole stay with Missey, she went out of her way to make sure that he felt at home - including calling another one of her friends that had a 1 year old Doxie so that he could come over and play with Cole. When my wife went to pick him up, he seemed happy to see us, but sad to leave Missey. Knowing Cole, that is the highest form of a compliment he can give any human. I would highly recommend Missy to anyone that is looking to have a dog sitter with a great love for dogs and an incredible amount of patience.”

“Had a great experience with Kyle! He watched my two dogs for the weekend and was very pleased with his attention to detail prior to their stay (he asked a lot of questions to make sure that my dogs would be comfortable and keep them on their routine) and he sent pictures every day. My younger dog is very energetic but came home wiped out and relaxed- a big bonus! ☺️ It was easy to see that Kyle enjoys interacting with the dogs and takes great care of them. Will definitely book again”
“My dog Zoey stayed with Bob for five nights. He sent daily updates and and communicated well. I could tell Zoey had a blast from the pictures and videos he sent me. He even did some training work with her, and we are going to use him in the future!”
“First time boarding our rescue dog and who doesn’t always get along well with other dogs. But Mayzie had a great stay! She got along well with Amy and Lamar’s dog (and cat) and they were able to separate her from a more active dog boarded during the day. They are very experienced in their understanding of dog behavior and from the pictures they sent she seemed like her happy self during the stay. Will definitely use them again!”

“Michelle was great! Excellent communication, plenty of pictures sent while we were gone. Benny certainly looked like he was having a good time there, and she was helpful and understanding when our plane was delayed”

“Rusty was a great match for our Frankie. At the meet and greet he asked many questions to get to know Frankie's personality. We left him for 10 nights and had daily pictures/movies of Frankie. Frankie is a senior and in the hot days of July his comfort was considered. It was nice to leave him in good care.”

“Walter just had his first experience with Nicole and it was wonderful. Nicole is present, kind and a fantastic dog sitter. I highly recommend her and will be using her again.”

“Michael and Janet have been wonderfully patient and compassionate with my two Chihuahuas, one of whom is elderly and has special dietary needs while the other is a rescue still getting acclimated. They took the time to win my dogs' trust, providing pets and outside time in a crate-free environment. I feel lucky to have found them!”

“We entrusted our Pomeranian to Erena's care during our one-week trip. Since our dog doesn't get along well with other dogs, Erena's home was the perfect choice as she doesn't have dogs of her own and is experienced in taking care of them. She sent us updates with photos every day, which gave us peace of mind. She also understood and followed our detailed instructions perfectly. If our schedules align, we would definitely love to ask for her help again.”

“We cannot put into words how much peace of mind we receive when leaving our sometimes-anxious pup in the care of Kazuhiro and Akemi. Their regular updates and photos/videos are invaluable and beyond appreciated. Cannot recommend them highly enough.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
