“Balaji was very nice, our doggie Mocha had a great time. Balaji kept us updated with photos and videos. Balaji also has a dog with the same name Mocha and it seems both Mochas had great time, Balaji also took Mocha on a walk multiple times a day. We felt at ease knowing that Mocha was happy and comfortable. I higly recomend and would use Balaji’s services again in the future.”

“We love Lori and Mark. Our dog stayed with them two times now and was loved on the entire time. No worries on our end. We received updates while we were away and nothing but tail wags when we picked him up! We will definitely be a repeat customer and recommend them for your pups. 5 stars all the way!”

“My dog is so happy to be with Ewa and all the doggy pals, he meets there. We are repeat customers I highly recommend Ew and her husbands dog sitting service. They are really caring people and seem to love my dog.”

“I can't recommend Mario enough for anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter! Mario watched my dog Dean for five days, and I couldn't be happier with the service he provided. He sent me daily pictures and videos of Dean, which really put my mind at ease while I was away. Mario made sure Dean received his medication on time and gave him plenty of love and attention. I could tell that Dean was in good hands the whole time. Thank you, Mario, for your excellent care and professionalism. I will definitely be reaching out to you again in the future!”

“After reading so many great reviews. We decided to go with Julie to watch both our boys (Mason & Mailo) and we can confirm Julie is the best. We received updates, pictures sent daily and the boys seemed to enjoy their time with Julie. We are very happy to know we have someone we can 100 percent trust with our boys. We highly recommend Julie. Sincerely, Rob & Val ( aka helicopter dog mom)”

“Dan and Jana were phenomenal pet sitters! Their back yard is a perfect to run and play. They were consistent with updates and photos and were very easy to communicate with. Their dog Lula was great with our playful large dog and our more reserved small dog. They clearly have a lot of care for the dogs in their home, they even reached out to let us know our dog appeared to have an ear infection and were very helpful with applying medicine for her. We definitely plan to use their services again in the future.”

“Kyle and his family were great with our dogs!! We were nervous to leave them while we were away because of previous bad kennel experience, but Kyle was great. Another worry that we had was that one of our dogs takes medication daily, but he gave it to her with no problems! He has a great fenced backyard for the pups to run around, he took them for walks, played with them, sent lots of pics and videos, and showed them lots of love. Our dogs really enjoyed their stay. If you’re in the area we would 100% recommend Kyle!”

“Byron and Martha are the best. They took really good care of our dog Noki. They followed up each day with photos and followed all instructions for care. Will be reaching out again for his service thru Rover. For sure a 5 star sitter. Thanks again!”

Nicole put my mind at ease with her instant warmth. She was communicative throughout the stay with daily updates and photos. Boots got lots of walks - which she loves! We're back home and she's her usual happy self. No signs of stress. So grateful for Nicole's care while we were away. A+

My dogs were so well taken care of by Gvido and family! They have a fantastic, fully fenced yard that my dogs loved to explore. They also took my dogs on daily walks in the nearby forest preserve. It made me so happy that my dogs were so happy while we were out of town!

Soojin went above and beyond in caring for our dog. She and her young children loved having him with them, and spoiled him with attention, love, and accommodation. Many updates, pics and videos were sent our way during our time away, and there was always quick communication. Our dog Ollie loved playing in their fenced in backyard. We hope to book with them again someday!

Dan and his wife took exceptional care of our dog while we were away. They lovingly welcomed her into their home, took her on walks, played with her and gave her lots of love. They discovered she had developed a UTI, worked with her to keep her comfortable. We are very grateful for their care. And Lula their dog was sweet and friendly to our dog.
Marissa was an absolutely fantastic dog sitter for our greyhound, Cash! She went above and beyond, sending us daily pictures that really put our minds at ease and showed how much fun Cash was having while we were away. It was clear from every update that Cash was in great hands, happy, and well cared for. I would definitely recommend Marissa to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter, and we'll absolutely be reaching out to her again the next time we travel!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
