“Anna is an excellent pet sitter. She is responsible, compassionate, caring for our dog and takes wonderful pictures. Anna won’t hesitate to call or text you with any questions. She left our dog happy, home clean and us relaxed knowing our dog was well taken care of. Thank You”

“Beth is so great with my 2 dogs. She sends pictures and tells me how their day is going. She also communicates any problems that arise. Beth is very easy to work with and follows all the instructions for the care of the house and pets. I really appreciate the way she takes care of everything!”

“Kevin was wonderful. We could not have been more confident in his ability to care for our pup during our trip. He asked all the right questions and truly paid attention to detail. During the stay, he sent plenty of updates and pictures which made us so happy to see! He was prompt, professional, and friendly! Our normally nervous pup warmed up to him almost immediately which just shows how lovely he is. Ollie loved him! He drew us a custom picture of Ollie and it truly is the coolest thing ever. We’ll be hanging it up! If you’re looking for a sitter who is attentive and will love on your animals the way you would, Kevin is your guy! Thank you Kevin for taking great care of Ollie!”

“Sarah took care of our cat for four days at our house while we were away. He has to be given medication at certain times during the day and also loves human attention. Sarah was caring and responsible, spent time hanging out with him, and made sure he got his meals and medicine at the right times. She also checked in with us, asked good questions, and responded quickly when we checked in with her. We hope to hire Sarah again, and highly recommend her for petsitting and housesitting.”

“Michael was great. I have 2 dogs, an elderly dog who needs multiple medications and sometimes has accidents, and a 6 month old puppy. Michael continued our training with our puppy, he also helped with the crazy schedule the 2 dogs and kept our house in great order while we were gone for 10 days. I would highly recommend Michael to house and dog sit.”

About: I have taken care of service dogs for 2 years in college now as part of the service dog club. I have taken care of puppies and old dogs so you’re in good hands. I’m working remote as a software engineer for a start up so I’m fully available for any time and any schedule that works for you. I live in a great suburb for tons of space for any sized dog to walk and play and tons of space inside as well.
“Karina is truly the best! She provided immaculate care for our senior dog. I have no doubt that Lilly felt safe and loved with Karina while we traveled. Karina provides multiple updates and pictures throughout her stay. She is also extremely responsive to any messages or questions. We will absolutely be booking with Karina again to watch our senior gal!”

“This is the second time Sarah has pet sat for us, and both times she took great care of our dog and our cat, and left our house immaculate. We will definitely be using her again in the future!”

“Maya did an outstanding job for us. She accepted a last minute request, which included a 6-day stay at our home while we were out of town on vacation. She connected very well with our 72 pound medium Bernedoodle, giving him lots of attention and care. Everything went smoothly and she remained focused and supportive to the end, even when our return flight was delayed by 3 hours. Thanks again Maya.”

About: I am an avid pet lover with more than four years of experience caring for fur babies. I got into pet sitting because growing up my parents wouldn’t allow me to have a dog due to my dads allergies. This caused me to start pet sitting for anyone who would let me within a ten mile radius of my house. Right now I am a full time college student but only online so I have plenty of time to care for your pet. My classes being at 11 in the morning and are spread out until 4 in the afternoon but I get breaks in between and have plenty of downtime. I rent a nice big home with a pretty big backyard so there is lots of outdoor space. I live with my sister who also loves animals and together we could take in every homeless dog and cat in the U.S. I treat every animal like a guest in my home and make their experience as pleasant as possible because they deserve it of course.
“Keeley was an amazing sitter. Sent so many pictures and updates and truly just loved on our pet with cuddles, car rides and great walks and playtime. Left the house clean and tidy and was just a pleasure to work with. Will be rebooking her soon!”

“I was terrified about finding someone to watch my little Velcro baby. But Rebeca put me at ease. Her communication with me and love she gave my baby is beyond what I could have expected. I am so happy to have book with Rebeca and next time I am in Chicagoland I will definitely book with her again! Thank you Rebeca!!!”

“Sydney watched our 14-year old cockapoo for 5 days while we were on vacation. We met prior to the trip and we went through his specialized feeding schedules. She is very friendly, punctual and Clifford (the dog) liked her. She was willing to stay overnight and house-sit as well as making sure Clifford was taken care of. I will be using her services again if she is available. I felt very comfortable leaving Clifford in her care.”

“Bryan did an excellent job taking care of RB and Frida. He was on top of everything, making sure the girls had their meals, walks, potty breaks etc. He is not afraid to ask anything (which we prefer rather than assume). Girls seems very happy and our apartment was spotless and well taken care of when we returned back. Definitely recommended for when you are away!! ❤️🐶”

“Had a great experience with Tammy, who provided in-home dog-sitting for our two dogs while we were away for a couple of weeks. She was kind, professional, communicative, and took very good care of the fur babies. We returned to a tidy house and a couple of happy, healthy doggos. Will definitely ask her to sit for us again, and would recommend her to others!”

“Scott watched our 12 year old dog Molly while we were away for a long weekend. Molly has had recent surgery and has a bad leg. It was wonderful to know that she was so well cared for while we were gone. We came back home to a happy girl who was moving well. It was also comforting to know our house was safe while we were gone. Scott updated us that she was eating well and everything was going smoothly. Would definitely recommend and would use again!”

“Nicole is so sweet and communicative! She was quick to respond from the first message I sent her inquiring about her availability. She took good care of our pups and would be happy to have her watch our girls again!”
“Becca was wonderful! She was able to watch Tazer on short notice over a holiday weekend. She sent updates and photos letting me know how he was doing. I have never had someone new watch him before and she said he adjusted well. It was such a relief knowing I could get away and he was in great hands. I will definitely be using her to sit again.”

Jennifer took such great care of Ref while we traveled for spring break. She took him on multiple walks a day, spent quality time playing with him, and even went above and beyond by helping with laundry. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was not only well cared for, but truly loved while we were away. We came home to a happy pup and a spotless home, couldn’t ask for more. Highly recommend Jennifer!

Lamar was an amazing pet expert and friend to Mango. He suggested a pre meet and greet which was so thoughtful and helpful. The meet and greet allowed Mango to get to know him in advance with no threat of us leaving. She literally took to him from the minute he arrived and it really never changed. His enthusiasm and expertise are apparent immediately as are his strong desire to understand the pet and the owners objectives. We are looking forward to many more playdates with Lamar and Mango!
look no further, julia is amazing and we are so happy we found her! we’ve never left our dog home with someone he and we didn’t know so we were a bit hesitant, but julia exceeded all our expectations. leo really enjoyed her company and she went above and beyond to make sure he was well taken care of. julia sent wonderful updates and photos of leo, they had a great time and enjoyed lots of snuggles and walks. thank you julia! we will definitely reach out again the next time we need someone to watch leo.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Park on Rover is $52.43 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 7,766 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Park. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
