“This is the second time we have had Rico take care of our dog for the weekend and we felt so great knowing that Odin was in such good hands. Rico sent lots of pictures each day and truly made Odin feel welcome and comfortable in his home. We highly recommend Rico and his wife!”

“Perfect home and perfect care. We received pictures/videos all the time and they provided updates on activities. They treated melon like their own dog.”

“Had a really great experience with Susan watching my 2 dogs. We did a meet and greet in advance and my dogs got along great with Isla. She was very accommodating of my dog with anxious behaviors and even their walking styles/activity levels. I felt very comfortable while I was away and got daily updates and photos! Will absolutely be booking again next time I’m away. Thank you Susan!”

“This was our first time using Rover for boarding and I’m so glad we found Michelle. We did an initial meet and greet and she mentioned was well experienced with handling puppies. She’s gone through training and works for a vet. I was worried because our 7 month puppy can be jumpy and overly excited, but still learning and training and overall a good dog. Michelle had no worries caring for him after that meet and greet. Michelle was extra communicative throughout boarding and sending updates and photos. Our pup Hank seemed to love boarding, her pup and senior dog, and son. We love how our puppy got extra socialization time in and playtime with her puppy. Loki her puppy vibed well with our dog. Overall highly recommend Michelle for boarding and will be our go to for any future needs.”

“Huactemo helped me out with an early morning drop-off one day and an evening pick-up the following day, and he was fantastic. Even though it was a short stay, he gave Louie the same level of attention and care as a longer trip. He was flexible and accommodating with the early drop-off, which made my work schedule so much easier. Throughout Louie’s stay, he kept me updated with messages about how he was doing and shared details about his overall behavior. It’s clear he really pays attention and understands Louie’s personality. I picked up a happy, relaxed pup the next evening, and that says everything. I’m so grateful for the reliability and communication—highly recommend Huactemo and will absolutely book again!”

“Meredith is wonderful! She was communicative, attentive, and caring to my sweet fur baby! She also sent lots of pics. Charly came home happy (and exhausted)! We will certainly be booking Meredith for future stays!”
“Lauren and her family took such good care of our dog Sawyer! This was our first time being away from our puppy so we were worried she was going to be scared, but she had so much fun playing with their dog Zoe while we were away. Lauren sent us pictures everyday to let us know how she was doing. By the time we got back, Sawyer was already attached to Lauren, Zoe, and the rest of the family.”

“Diana and her family are the absolute best!! Our pup has been at Diana's house during winter break for the past 3 years since he was a small puppy, and he gets so much love at her house. He even recognizes her house now and will pull me to her house when we arrive! I appreciate the pictures she sends and updates!”

“Tony was so great with our dog, Bean! Upon meeting him, our dog just walked with him and didn’t even look back! He also gave us constant updates - sharing photos and messages to make sure we know our dog is comfy and in great hands. We are so grateful that we didn’t have to worry about anything while we were away!”

“Piper seemed to have a great time at Abigail and Christopher's. They were very warm and welcoming to our older, laid back dog and made her feel comfortable in their home.”

“We boarded our two pittie mixes at Hannah's for a week after she took such great care of them at our home a few weeks back. We were honestly super nervous about it because one of our pups has had very little socialization with other dogs. Hannah put us at ease and assured us all would be well....and it was. If you are nervous like we were, choose Hannah, she can handle it! She's a true professional!”

“Undram did an amazing job caring for Gizmo. He came home to us so happy and calm. I can tell he was well loved and understood. We were so thrilled after a grueling flight to come home to such a happy pup!”

“Wilma and her family were amazing with Guy! He looked very happy when we picked him up. We know he was well taken care of. We hope to be able to have Guy visit them again soon.”

“She was wonderful with Hoover. Very gentle as Hoover is an older dog. She would carry her outside and dry her off and make sure she was warm during the unseasonably cold snap. Would definitely book with her again.”
“Whitney was absolutely excellent. My dog came back in perfect happy and healthy condition and if needed again, we will make her our permanent dog sitter. You cannot go wrong with this amazing bright young lady. Awesome job Whitney!”

“Cheri was so wonderful! My dog very obviously enjoys spending time with her and had a great time in her fenced yard with other dogs. Will absolutely rebook. Cheri asked many specific questions and is obviously gifted with working with many different types of dogs.”

“So happy to have found Makda!! She was immediately responsive to my request, booked with her instantly. Gracie was well cared for, communication was great and I had no worries that she was right at home with Makda!!!”

“Myriam was amazing. She was fun and loving with my pet. She constantly sent pictures and messages letting me know how things were going. Her girls are super helpers and my dog enjoyed being the center of attention of the whole family. Thank you!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kenilworth
i would give 10 stars if i could! Thao took great care of our puppy and we’ve never seen our dog so happy while away from us. We got so many updates and even with the severe weather that occurred during our dogs stay, Thao ensured our dogs safety and comfort! We are extremely grateful for Thao’s expertise and support and would 100% trust her for another stay in the future!

Ella and Sidney took great care of my dog Sugar! They kept me up to date with photos and text messages for the 3 nights they had her. It’s always a little nerve racking leaving your baby in someone else care that you don’t know and someone your pup doesn’t know either, but it was all good. Thanks again Ella & Sidney !!

Katelyn was so warm and responsive throughout the entire boarding process. She has a clear affinity and appreciation for cats, which is so important to us in a sitter. We felt completely confident that our cats were in good, loving hands, and were thrilled to see the daily updates and photos she shared from their stay. 100% would recommend.
Both we (the humans) AND our dog loved Mackenzie! She was kind, communicative, and so caring towards our senior dog who stayed with her over New Year’s. We loved her regular updates, including photos and videos, and it was clear that my dog wanted to stay longer when I came to get him! 11 out of 10 stars, recommend with gusto!

We used to leave our dog at a large dog boarding place when traveling, and she would be grouped with so many different dogs that I can tell she was traumatized and often took days to be back to her normal carefree self (and she would have dog drooling all over her). This time under Nancyanne’s care our dog was able to stick to a routine similar to at home, and I can tell she was quite comfortable and after 9 days it was seamless that her demeanor was like she never left home. We would happily recommend Nancyanne to anyone who needs help.

Melody took care our precious cat Ava while we were away for a 10-day trip. Ava has never been away from home but Melody was experienced in giving Ava time to assimilate and explore her new home-away-from-home, immediately placing Ava's familiar favorite structures (we brought her scratching house and a small window box) in good spots that would make her feel comfortable. She kept us informed on our trip. Ava and Melody were the best of friends when we came to pick her up.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
