“Jeff and Ron took care of our standard, 4 1/2 year old Bernedoodle. It was our first time leaving her and we were cautious in who we chose to care for her. Jeff. And Ron lived up to their highly rated reviews! We set up a meet and greet and also decided to have our pup spend a day with them before leaving on our 4 day getaway. Jeff’s friendly demeanor with us and our pup put our minds at ease. We felt comfortable knowing our dog was in good hands!”

“Elva is very communicative and was so great with Sloan while watching her over the 4th of July. Sloan is already very anxious so the fireworks don’t help, but she was very calm and well taken care of when I picked her up.”

“Kristina is a bright, active and attentive host for our two dogs. She kept our boys moving every day and ensured we were updated regularly with photos. Staying with Kristina was a great experience for our dogs.”

“Pamela Grace was super friendly and amazingly communicative. We felt immediately comfortable with her and so did Markie. We received so many updates and photos which we really appreciated. If you want a sitter that will go above and beyond plus obviously really cares about and loves dogs, this is your gal. Also, Xena is a total sweetheart.”

“If you have an anxious dog like mine, who needs a quiet, less-stimulating environment, Karla is perfect. She is reliable, communicative, and understands a dog's needs. I'm a repeat customer and highly recommend her.”

“Fozzie took to Makda straight away. She allowed Fozzie to sleep in a family bed and honored all requests re walks and treats. Lovely house and neighborhood good for walks and back yard bathroom breaks. Fozzie had a good 4 night break. Ask Makda if there will be another dog there, I wasn’t aware there may be - I hadn’t checked the box req house with no other dog. When I enquired after pick up, I was very satisfied that all was well even though Fozz can be anxious around other dogs. Would definitely recommend.”

“I booked Michelle for the holidays and I could tell my pup was so happy, lounging around her place and getting tons of play time and cuddles. When it came time for pickup, Michelle was so so understanding and flexible after flights were continuously delayed, and continued to make us feel like that Monster was welcome and cared for. Definitely recommend!”

“Doug and Debbie were incredible hosts for our dog, Stella, while our family was away for a week. Stella can be slow to warm up to new people, but thanks to their gentle care, she quickly felt at ease. We had a few unexpected flight cancellations, which required Stella to stay an extra day, and Doug and Debbie happily accommodated her without any issues. We're so grateful that Stella had a safe, loving place to stay, and she especially loved their beautiful backyard patio. Will definitely be re-booking for any other family vacation!”

I will be home full time in the fall as my current families kiddos are heading to full day school! My son is officially a big kid & ready for his pre K-4! Rather than looking for a new family I’d love to try something new- animals have been a big part of my life, my entire life! My Pomsky pup Yogi is the BEST playmate- he currently goes to day care and has had a dog sitter since we brought him home last year! He loves all people and animals and would truly love to play with any doggy friend! We are in a 2 Flat with a fenced in yard- yogi and I go on hour long walks in the neighborhood & frequent dog parks in the city! “I highly recommend Olga. She truly loves our dog. She gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She made sure our dog got plenty of exercise with daily walks and even took him to the park to play and explore. She even insisted to home our dog for another night for free so we can have good rest coming from our vacation. She genuinely cares and we could tell our dog was happy and well taken care of. We’re so grateful and would absolutely trust her again in the future.”

“Kelso clearly had a wonderful time with Brian and Huactemo -- and with the other puppy they were boarding at the same time. I appreciated the videos and hearing their amused comments at some of his puppy antics. I know he would be delighted to visit them again!”

“Ian was a great host for our pup. We got regular updates and she seemed happy and safe the whole time. I think she missed her doggo friends when she came home! Would certainly book again.”

Sarah was absolutely amazing with Rocky! She treated him like he was part of her own family, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She stayed in constant communication, sent lots of pictures and updates, and it was clear from every message how much she genuinely cared about him. We never had to wonder how he was doing because she kept us informed every step of the way. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter and would gladly trust Sarah with Rocky again. Highly recommend!

Thao was absolutely wonderful! This was our first time leaving our pups and I was very nervous for both the sitter and our fur babies but Thao did an amazing job communicating with us and reassuring that our pups were safe with her. Ultimately, she provided a peace of mind that my family and I needed. Booking with Thao was worth it in every way possible! Thanks again Thao!

Natalie and Jacob were outstanding sitters for our Ruby. Their calm and friendly approach put Ruby at complete ease during her six night stay. Natalie kept us informed when we checked in and sent pictures that helped with our separation anxiety .. ha ha. We highly recommend Natalie & Jacob for your dog sitting needs.
Abaigael was amazing with Aya! She sent frequent updates and I could tell from the pictures that Aya was so happy with her and her family! Super friendly and communicative, I'm super grateful to know Aya was in great company! Oh and she has the cutest pup! Thanks again!

We had a wonderful experience with Rima! She took great care of our dogs, Milo and Oreo, and our cat, Cleo, while we were away. We truly appreciated the love and attention she gave them, and we would definitely book with her again. Highly recommend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
