“Janette and Charlie watched our dog for the first time last week while we were on vacation. They were flexible with our schedule, and sent lots of pictures and videos so we could keep up on how Sadie was doing. She had a great week with them!”

“Five very waggy stars for Meghan (and her sweet pup, Ralphie)! Meghan is absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that she is a true dog lover with tons of experience, and she knew exactly how to make our dog feel safe, happy, and completely at home. Our dog was treated like a member of her family and had the time of his life playing with Ralphie and the other dogs. The adorable photos and videos gave us so much peace of mind while we were away...and honestly, I think he was a little sad to come home, which is probably the highest compliment a dog can give. We will absolutely book again. Weekend at Ralphie’s is officially dog-approved!”

“Susan was fantastic with Gryffin! She sent plenty of updates throughout the visit and was clearly focused on making his time away more like an extended vacation with plenty of toys and playtime other pups. I would have Gryff stay with her again any time.”

“Rebeca did an outstanding job with our nervous puppy. She was very patient with his puppy energy even as our dog unfortunately was not very well behaved. Rebeca did a great job keeping us up to date on everything going on and sent us lots of pictures. I would highly recommend for anyone needing dog watching services.”

“Huactemo and the team watched Louie again this week, and as always, it was a great experience. Their reliability really stands out—every stay is consistent, smooth, and stress-free, which makes traveling so much easier for me. Louie was well cared for the entire time and got plenty of social interaction, which I really appreciate. It’s clear they make an effort to keep him engaged and comfortable, not just watched. I also received regular updates throughout the stay with notes on how Louie was doing and his behavior, which gives me a lot of peace of mind. I came back to a happy, relaxed dog once again. I truly appreciate the consistency and care—highly recommend!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I couldn't have picked a better person. Michelle was wonderful and keep me updated and best of all my dog was actually sad to come home!”

“Meredith is wonderful! She was communicative, attentive, and caring to my sweet fur baby! She also sent lots of pics. Charly came home happy (and exhausted)! We will certainly be booking Meredith for future stays!”
“Another great stay with Abigail and Christopher! Daisy was so eager to see them, she ran to the door when we dropped her off. We received daily updates, and were so happy to know our doggo was doing well. Thank you! Liz, John, and Daisy”

“Lauren and her family took such good care of our dog Sawyer! This was our first time being away from our puppy so we were worried she was going to be scared, but she had so much fun playing with their dog Zoe while we were away. Lauren sent us pictures everyday to let us know how she was doing. By the time we got back, Sawyer was already attached to Lauren, Zoe, and the rest of the family.”

“Diana took a good care of my dog for about week. She followed feeding instructions and went above and beyond when my dog did not want to eat for some days. She sent me pics and video of how was doing. When I picked up Sebastian, he was very active, happy and cheerful. That gave me peace of mind that my doggy was taken care of well and with love.”

“Makda did a great job with our boys. Super friendly and worked perfectly with our scheduling. Thanks again and you will be the first person I reach out to if I need a sitter again.”

“You can tell Abaigaels home is filled with love and I had no doubt my dog (aka my baby who I’m very nervous to leave somewhere) was well taken care of. I received lots of updates and saw all the snuggles and pampering my dog received. I wasn’t sure if he was going to want to come home. 5 Stars will definitely be a return customer!!”

“Fantastic experience. Diana was extremely responsive and took great care of our senior dog. Lily seemed right at home with her. I would highly recommend her and we hope to use her again.”

“Cheri was so wonderful! My dog very obviously enjoys spending time with her and had a great time in her fenced yard with other dogs. Will absolutely rebook. Cheri asked many specific questions and is obviously gifted with working with many different types of dogs.”

“Janelle and Elijah were so flexible with us during a time when we had an extended family illness and loss that required us to leave Eliza with them for longer than originally expected. The peace of mind we had, knowing they were taking care of our girl during our time of need, was incredibly valuable. We are grateful!”

“Wilma was an amazing sitter, sending me daily pictures of Maisy and assuring me she’s eating, playing and doing fine. My dog didn’t want to come home! 😄 We’ll definitely be back!”

“10/10 would recommend. Brigs was in a great mood when I picked him up. He thought we were going to go back to Whitney’s place when I got there, which tells me he was comfortable and happy during his 4 day stay.”

i would give 10 stars if i could! Thao took great care of our puppy and we’ve never seen our dog so happy while away from us. We got so many updates and even with the severe weather that occurred during our dogs stay, Thao ensured our dogs safety and comfort! We are extremely grateful for Thao’s expertise and support and would 100% trust her for another stay in the future!

Ella and Sidney took great care of my dog Sugar! They kept me up to date with photos and text messages for the 3 nights they had her. It’s always a little nerve racking leaving your baby in someone else care that you don’t know and someone your pup doesn’t know either, but it was all good. Thanks again Ella & Sidney !!

Coconut had such a fun time with Claire and Sushi! She went to Claire’s house two different times so far and she was sooo excited to get back there!! She also learned better behavior from Sushi and Claire even trained Coconut to do a few different tricks. Thanks so much Claire !! :)

Jennifer took care of our exuberant shepherd mix for a week while we were out of town. She was always communicative and flexible with dropoff and pickup. We never had any worries and he always is excited to visit Jennifer. We will definitely book with her again. Thank you, Jennifer!

Cheri was INCREDIBLY AWESOME!!!! Niky was exceptionally well taken care of. Can't recommend her enough. Niky has a bunch of medicine needs and is an older senior dog so she needs a little extra care. Cheri was amazing about it all. Will have her watch Niky again soon!! Great experience.

Katelyn was so warm and responsive throughout the entire boarding process. She has a clear affinity and appreciation for cats, which is so important to us in a sitter. We felt completely confident that our cats were in good, loving hands, and were thrilled to see the daily updates and photos she shared from their stay. 100% would recommend.
Both we (the humans) AND our dog loved Mackenzie! She was kind, communicative, and so caring towards our senior dog who stayed with her over New Year’s. We loved her regular updates, including photos and videos, and it was clear that my dog wanted to stay longer when I came to get him! 11 out of 10 stars, recommend with gusto!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
