“Sophie and her boyfriend, Sean took great care of our furbaby! She gave me daily updates which was so appreciative! She was very prepared too, we had a meet and greet prior to her sitting and she asked all the needed questions. We don’t go out of town often to where we need a sitter, but the next time we do I sure hope Sophie is available!”

“My dog felt like he was at home with Lauren! Awesome experience throughout. I was given updates and pictures. Felt at ease during my vacation knowing my dog was well taken care of. Would definitely book again with Lauren!”

“Had a really great experience with Susan watching my 2 dogs. We did a meet and greet in advance and my dogs got along great with Isla. She was very accommodating of my dog with anxious behaviors and even their walking styles/activity levels. I felt very comfortable while I was away and got daily updates and photos! Will absolutely be booking again next time I’m away. Thank you Susan!”

“Careful and caring family home where our Rosie spent Christmas and New Years while we traveled overseas. Vladimir and Laura met with us in advance and provided updates periodically and responded within minutes anytime we reached out while traveling with pictures and comments. Our dog came home rested, NOT stressed, from being at a home away from home. Thank you guys!”

“Rima is so kind and patient. We received photos of our pups daily and they seemed to have a small adjustment but in the end they seemed like they enjoyed themselves. Rima is flexible and she made the process smooth and effortless. Thank you, Rima!”

“Karla did a great job taking care of our dog, Lucky. We’ve only had Lucky for a few months, and as a rescue from Texas, he has a lot of separation anxiety. Karla was very understanding and made him feel relaxed and at home, while also being patient with all of his little foibles. She sent us lots of pictures and videos, which we really appreciated. She also has a great setup for dogs, including a large long condo with plenty of space for running around. We would definitely recommend Karla to others!”

“Nic took such good care of Bailey! Nic was so responsive, sent so many pictures, and was so sweet! Bailey got so much love and went on so many walks! I would recommend Nic to anyone and everyone!”

“Abby and Chris did an amazing job with my dog and I would for sure recommend them to any pet parents! Great communication, lots of updates, and it seems like she had such a fun time. Thanks again!”

“Chad was great with the communication and the care he gave to Cill. Chad and his wife were very loving with my pup and very attentive I will in the future use Chad again and anyone else would be lucky to have Chad care for their pup!!!!!!”

“She was wonderful with Hoover. Very gentle as Hoover is an older dog. She would carry her outside and dry her off and make sure she was warm during the unseasonably cold snap. Would definitely book with her again.”
“I’d like to share my experience with Christina, who recently cared for my dog, Moxy. Right before the boarding, Moxy had an injury, and I was a bit nervous about leaving her. But Christina was incredibly understanding and attentive from the start. She went above and beyond to make sure Moxy was comfortable and well taken care of. Christina kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which really helped ease my mind. She made sure Moxy was fed properly and gave her the extra attention she needed during recovery. Despite the circumstances, Moxy was happy and relaxed with Christina — I could tell she felt safe and cared for. I’m truly grateful for the compassionate and professional service Christina provided and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog sitter.”

“Myriam and her family were patient and loving with my senior dog for overnight boarding. They really made her feel comfortable and cared for, and sent me good updates and photos. I would definitely book with Myriam again!”
“Hannah is probably one of the best dog sitters I’ve met. Piper would rather stay with her than come home! Without a doubt will be using Hannah as much as possible. She sends daily updates and her timely replies and flexibility is unmatched.”

“Bridget took wonderful care of our sweet golden retriever - she even gave him a bath of her own volition, and that is not an easy thing to do with our giant fur baby! He smells wonderful now, ha! She was great to work with and we would book her again - highly recommend!”
“Ian is hands down the best dog sitter I’ve ever had! Not only does he provide a huge and comfortable space for all dogs staying with him, he took extra time and care to make sure our dog was comfortable and confident in her environment. Our dog (chihuahua) has never been comfortable around big dogs, but Ian facilitated everything so patiently that by the end of her stay, she was playing with the bigger dogs there! Thanks so much for helping our tiny girl’s confidence!”

“Abaigael and her family were great hosts! Lots of updates, walks, and dedicated play time/exercise. She was super responsive and understanding as I had a last second booking. Would not hesitate to return or recommend her services.”

“Sky was super responsive and helpful! She was flexible too. She took great care of the pups, which isn’t the easiest with our 14yo yorkie 💙 she played with our energetic Honey and took sweet pictures for us of both. Appreciated her care and will book again when my parents are in town and need a sitter!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wilmette
We really appreciated Sandra and Sorin's care for our dog August. I enjoyed our meet and greet to make sure we were a good fit for our dog and theirs. Our dog, August, is a high energy guy that needs lots of stimulation and Sandra and Sorin did a lot of activities to support August while we were gone. They provided daily updates and communication. I would highly recommend Sandra and Sorin.

Thao was absolutely wonderful! This was our first time leaving our pups and I was very nervous for both the sitter and our fur babies but Thao did an amazing job communicating with us and reassuring that our pups were safe with her. Ultimately, she provided a peace of mind that my family and I needed. Booking with Thao was worth it in every way possible! Thanks again Thao!

We left our dog, Winston, with Cheri for a weekend away, and it was a wonderful experience. We were a little nervous leaving him for the first time since he’s still a puppy, but Cheri immediately put our minds at ease. Winston was very well cared for, and Cheri kept us updated throughout the weekend with messages and photos. It was clear he was happy, comfortable, and getting lots of attention. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave Winston with Cheri again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter.

Skippy thoroughly enjoyed his time with Cynthia. She was so welcoming and a wonderful communicator with daily photos and comments that reflected how well she got to know our Yorkie. We all look forward to future visits where we won’t have to worry about the care our dog is receiving. 5 star plus!!!!!!
Ella and Sidney took great care of my dog Sugar! They kept me up to date with photos and text messages for the 3 nights they had her. It’s always a little nerve racking leaving your baby in someone else care that you don’t know and someone your pup doesn’t know either, but it was all good. Thanks again Ella & Sidney !!

Jennifer took care of our exuberant shepherd mix for a week while we were out of town. She was always communicative and flexible with dropoff and pickup. We never had any worries and he always is excited to visit Jennifer. We will definitely book with her again. Thank you, Jennifer!

Katelyn was so warm and responsive throughout the entire boarding process. She has a clear affinity and appreciation for cats, which is so important to us in a sitter. We felt completely confident that our cats were in good, loving hands, and were thrilled to see the daily updates and photos she shared from their stay. 100% would recommend.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
