“Karla did a great job taking care of our dog, Lucky. We’ve only had Lucky for a few months, and as a rescue from Texas, he has a lot of separation anxiety. Karla was very understanding and made him feel relaxed and at home, while also being patient with all of his little foibles. She sent us lots of pictures and videos, which we really appreciated. She also has a great setup for dogs, including a large long condo with plenty of space for running around. We would definitely recommend Karla to others!”

“Susan was incredible taking care of Ernie for the week!! From home made dog treats, to play time, to wonderful updates, Ernie could not have been in better hands. Thank you Susan!!”

“Perfect home and perfect care. We received pictures/videos all the time and they provided updates on activities. They treated melon like their own dog.”

“Julia was great! She always had great communication, easy to coordinate drop off and pick up and it is clear that she put care and attention into taking care of our pup! Thank you Julia!”

About: As someone who has raised my Havanese dog Oreo for 7 years, I have all the experience needed to ensure pets a comfortable and fulfilling time while you're away. Oreo, despite barking a lot, is friendly with dogs and children. He loves company and is very gentle. He is a great companion for dogs of all sizes needing a place to stay! Although I am working full-time, I usually come home earlier to walk and feed pets. During weekends and holidays, I am usually available all day to satisfy your pet's needs. I typically go for a walk before and after work. I also have cameras for when I am at work, to ensure that nothing goes wrong while I am away. I typically take dogs for walks around my neighborhood or nearby lakeside parks, where there is plenty of space and active and friendly dog communities. Pets can sleep wherever they feel comfortable. I have a fenced courtyard and backyard that pets can roam freely.
“Brian took great care of my dog and asked thoughtful questions to ensure my dog’s first stay with him would go well. He provided a picture daily and my dog was happy when I picked her up.”

“Rebeca did an outstanding job with our nervous puppy. She was very patient with his puppy energy even as our dog unfortunately was not very well behaved. Rebeca did a great job keeping us up to date on everything going on and sent us lots of pictures. I would highly recommend for anyone needing dog watching services.”

“Bridget was an amazing sitter for our boy Buddy. We had never used Rover before, but wanted to leave him with someone who would give him more love and attention than he would get at a dog hotel while my wife and I got married and went on our honeymoon. When we reached out to Bridget, she immediately responded and made us feel confident that she’d be willing to watch him for a full two weeks. We were a little worried because our dog had never been taken care of by anyone else, but she was totally comfortable with his behavior profile and was very reassuring. She gave us daily updates with pictures and videos of him having fun, which helped us feel able to relax while we were away. She was also super friendly and responsive to our messages whenever we checked in. 10/10 would recommend.”

“Maria is the absolute best! We have worked with Maria a few times and she is our favorite resource for boarding. She is outstanding with our 2 dogs. One of my boys is a senior and requires gentle care. Maria goes above and beyond to meet the needs of my boy. She is so communicative and cordial. Truly the gold standard!”

“I can't recommend Mario enough for anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter! Mario watched my dog Dean for five days, and I couldn't be happier with the service he provided. He sent me daily pictures and videos of Dean, which really put my mind at ease while I was away. Mario made sure Dean received his medication on time and gave him plenty of love and attention. I could tell that Dean was in good hands the whole time. Thank you, Mario, for your excellent care and professionalism. I will definitely be reaching out to you again in the future!”

“Karin and family are wonderful with Sydney. They take great care of her and treat her just like one of the family. They are so good about providing updates and sending photos. They deserve 5 stars for their care.”
“Diane was amazing. I have two small Maltese dogs with separation anxiety, so I was very nervous about leaving them. From the moment we met, she made me feel at ease. She welcomed them into her home and went above and beyond to make sure they felt comfortable, safe, and confident. It was a wonderful experience, and I could tell my dogs were happy and well cared for. I’m already booking with her again for future stays. Highly recommend!”

“Svetlana is awesome! She accommodated my last minute request (holiday request) and was so fast with communication (also so flexible with timing). I also loved the daily updates with photos. She took great care of my little guy and explained all the details of his bevahiour which helps me with his training. He definitely had a good time. I would recommend her highly to anyone and would for sure bring my guy back again. Thanks so much Svetlana!”
“Makda did a great job with our boys. Super friendly and worked perfectly with our scheduling. Thanks again and you will be the first person I reach out to if I need a sitter again.”

“Nic took such good care of Bailey! Nic was so responsive, sent so many pictures, and was so sweet! Bailey got so much love and went on so many walks! I would recommend Nic to anyone and everyone!”

“Gabriela and Richard were so kind and sweet with my toy poodle! They even took her on little adventures to get doggie ice cream and nice walks around the neighborhood, aside from plenty of outside time in their own fenced-in backyard! Gabriela was super great about texting updates and super cute pics of my girl! And they even got her to eat a good bit while I was away even though she usually tries to go on a hunger strike in my absence. Gabriela met us for like 15 mins at the local park before boarding and got to know my dog and garner some info from me, which I really appreciated and not a lot of boarders do that! My girl was very happy when I picked her up and I would absolutely rebook Gabriela and Richard! Highly recommend!”

“He provided multiple updates and pictures. My dog was not only super excited to meet him, but looked happy and well taken care of in the pictures I got. I trust my dog was in great hands, and I'll definitely be booking with him again!”

“Diana went above and beyond taking care of Pippin. He tends to display aggression when scared and she went out of her way to keep him in a calm environment. Once he warmed up she engaged with him doing his favorite activities. Thank you so much for taking care of our Pip!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wilmette
Our dog Lucky stayed with Jeffrey and Ron for over a week while we were traveling, and we couldn’t have asked for better care. Lucky has separation anxiety, so he can’t be left alone for long periods of time. He also doesn’t always do well with other dogs when we’re outside, so we were a little nervous about leaving him with someone new. However, Jeffrey and Ron took absolutely amazing care of him! They were very attentive to his needs and took his separation anxiety into consideration from the very beginning. They asked thoughtful and important questions during our meet-and-greet, which made us feel confident that Lucky would be in good hands. Throughout our trip, they kept us updated every day and shared lots of pictures. We highly recommend Jeffrey and Ron! They are caring, responsible, and truly went above and beyond to make sure Lucky felt safe, comfortable, and loved. We would definitely trust them with Lucky again!

Claire took such good care of Grampa. Our guy is the sweetest peanut, but needs calm intentional attention especially in new environments due to early life trauma and (managed) separation anxiety. Claire was incredible at assuaging my concerns and helping me feel confident in trusting her. And Sushi was such a sweet little companion who Claire also clearly takes such loving care of with lots of training and support. Our guy was excited to see me when I picked him up but I’m no way was he pulling away from Claire’s home which is a huge sign for how comfortable he became in just 24 hours. Thank you thank you, Claire, for loving our buddy!

This was my first time using Rover, which I was pretty nervous about since I usually have a family member watch my dog. Sandra and Sorin were very friendly sitters. They took excellent care of my dog and sent me cute photos and videos of my dog. Mikey had a great time with them. I will be recommending them again in the near future.

Thanks Bela! She was great with my senior 11 year old dog. She followed my instructions for him to a T and tried her best to accommodate where plausible. She is kind, responsive and kept me in the loop not too much or too little. I think he enjoyed his time there and got lots of love with the pictures she sent during the stay.

We had our little Dachshund boarded with Kazuhiro & Akemi and found them to be extremely responsive, responsible and easy to work with. With lots of photos daily showing walks, playing and rest time, we felt reassured that our little sausage was being well looked after. I feel very comfortable recommending them!

Ella and Sidney took great care of my dog Sugar! They kept me up to date with photos and text messages for the 3 nights they had her. It’s always a little nerve racking leaving your baby in someone else care that you don’t know and someone your pup doesn’t know either, but it was all good. Thanks again Ella & Sidney !!

Jennifer took care of our exuberant shepherd mix for a week while we were out of town. She was always communicative and flexible with dropoff and pickup. We never had any worries and he always is excited to visit Jennifer. We will definitely book with her again. Thank you, Jennifer!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
