About: I’ve spent over a decade in hospitality and operations, running shifts at places like Starbucks and a local beer lab, which basically means I’m used to juggling a hundred things at once while staying calm, warm, and on schedule. Turns out that’s great training for dog care too: reading personalities fast, sticking to routines, and making sure everyone (two legs or four) feels comfortable in a new environment. I’ve got a dog of my own, so I know the drill: the 6am zoomies, the separation anxiety whining, the food that “definitely doesn’t cause gas.” Whether your pup is a couch potato, a chaos gremlin, or somewhere in between, I’ll treat them like they’re already part of the household. Ten-plus years in hospitality means I’m used to following exact protocols and communicating clearly, and I apply that same discipline to pet care. Safety and consistency come first, in my home or yours. I keep a calm, predictable environment because cats do best with routine, so I stick to feeding times, litter maintenance, and any specific instructions you give me exactly as written, no improvising.

Bethany was really great taking care of my Lola. It was the first time I've had anyone take care of my dog, so I was nervous. Great communication and checked in often, making me feel comfortable the entire time. Thank you!

Whether it’s dogs, cats, reptiles, rabbits, or birds—I’m comfortable with just about any animal and happy to follow your care instructions to a T. I don’t get intimidated easily, and I’m always willing to go the extra mile to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved. You can count on me to treat your pets like family I’m currently a college student studying sonography. My in-person classes are on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, so I’m available after those times but Mondays and Wednesdays I have zoom but I’m still available for pet care during that time if you're comfortable with it- I have breaks and I’m usually done by 12 . Friday ,Saturdays, and Sundays I’m completely free all day! Your pet will always have my full attention. I’ll make sure they get regular potty breaks or walks so they don’t feel overwhelmed or restless. If your pet has a scheduled mealtime, I’ll stick to it closely. If not, I’ll feed them twice a day ,once in the morning and once in the evening ,to keep them comfortable and cared for.

About: Hiii! I’m Marlena. I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, so they’ve always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve grown such a strong love for taking care of animals. I have experience with both larger dogs and really small dogs, and I’m good at picking up on their body language and little signs so I can understand what they need. I’ll always make sure your pup feels safe, loved, and well taken care of while they’re with me! I’m currently offering part-time walks while starting my senior year of high school. I’m available after 3 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends, allowing me to give pets the time, attention, and care they deserve. Your pet’s safety is always my top priority during walks. I pay close attention to my surroundings, keep pets securely leashed, avoid unsafe areas, and make sure each walk is comfortable, safe, and enjoyable for your dog.

Velvet is amazing! I rescued a pup off the streets yesterday and had an important appointment this morning. I booked Velvet late in the evening the night before, and she shifted her schedule to help me last minute and was wonderful with communication. Even more importantly, Velvet made this sweet rescue boy (again, fresh off the streets) feel calm, comfortable, and she even got him to snuggle with her! If she's this much of an dog whisperer with a fearful stray boy, I can only imagine the incredible care a beloved pet would receive. Thank you so incredibly much, Velvet! I can't tell you how much I appreciate you!

Jordan did an excellent job watching our pup! We initially booked her for one day of house-sitting, but when our plans changed and we needed a second day, Jordan was ready to help us. We set up a meet and greet and Jordan was very communicative during the booking process. Throughout her sitting days, she kept us updated with texts and pictures of our pup and even did some household cleaning like doing some dishes and taking out the trash! We were impressed by Jordan's attention to detail and care for our pup, and we highly recommend her.

Joel is the absolute best! He looked after my cat for 10 days when I went on vacation and I got multiple updates a day and lots of photos of how much fun they were having together! Joel was the perfect house guest. I swear he left my home cleaner than when I left. My cat was so relaxed and happy when I got home I knew without a doubt that Joel had treated him just like his own fur baby. I will be singing Joel’s praise for weeks to come and have already booked another sitting with him!

Hannah took exceptional care of our dogs once again. All of our dogs require medication, which she handles with ease. Additionally, she cooked special food for our dog when he had an upset stomach. She also took out our garbages and brought in packages for us. Highly recommend!

I was not sure we could leave our pets for 15 nights! But then we met Cassandra and instantly felt good and comfortable about it. She spent so much time with our two dogs and cats, loved on them, fed, filled water bowls, walked the dogs, watered plants, vacuumed, wiped down, scooped litter boxes, picked up dog poop, etc. We are so grateful for all she did to keep everyone safe and well cared for! Thank you Cassandra!!

Heather was wonderful with our three dogs and one of the first sitters we ever trusted with them. She immediately put us at ease and took such great care of everything while we were away for a week. One thing we really appreciated was how she reached out with thoughtful questions about each of the dogs personalities and how they get along. It was really nice because it showed she genuinely wanted to get to know them and make sure she was caring for them in the best way possible. One of the biggest bonuses is that she also cleans houses on the side, and it truly shows. We came home to a house that was even cleaner than when we left it, which was such a nice surprise after traveling and made coming home feel so much more relaxing. She was also incredibly thoughtful and flexible when our flight got delayed. She went out of her way to come back later in the evening to let the dogs out, which we really appreciated. She stayed in great communication the entire time and kept us updated, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and detail oriented sitter.

Liana was fantastic with my 15 1/2 year old and 9 year old dogs. They both take medication twice a day and Bowie & Truffles warmed up to her which shows she really was beyond amazing 🤩 as Bowie does not easily bond with anyone. Constant updates and photos were a relief as I was so anxious as I don’t travel often. I felt her warmth the moment she came to visit for a meet & greet. I highly recommend Liana.

FAQs for House Sitting - Wilmington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Wilmington on Rover is $48.84 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 14,165 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wilmington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wilmington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wilmington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wilmington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wilmington. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
