Not only did he take excellent care of my dog but also went above and beyond to ensure the house was tidy. I highly recommend Allen to anyone looking for a reliable, caring and professional dog sitter. I will definitely be booking again!”

About: Hiii! I’m Marlena. I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, so they’ve always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve grown such a strong love for taking care of animals. I have experience with both larger dogs and really small dogs, and I’m good at picking up on their body language and little signs so I can understand what they need. I’ll always make sure your pup feels safe, loved, and well taken care of while they’re with me! I’m currently offering part-time walks while starting my senior year of high school. I’m available after 3 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends, allowing me to give pets the time, attention, and care they deserve. Your pet’s safety is always my top priority during walks. I pay close attention to my surroundings, keep pets securely leashed, avoid unsafe areas, and make sure each walk is comfortable, safe, and enjoyable for your dog.
“JoAnne is such a wonderful dog sitter. Our dog, Callie, loves her and is very comfortable with her. All the photos and updates were reassuring. We will try to book JoAnne for any future dog sitting needs! She is the best!”

About: I would be a great dog sitter for you not only because I LOVE all animals but also because I grew up owning two dogs, a Lab and a little Bichon, not to mention a cat and a snake. I currently have a dog and two cats I take care of daily. In high school I always took care of the neighbor's animals and houses while they were out of town. My friends now always call me if they need a sitter or just to give their dogs a walk while they're at work. My schedule is super flexible because I work from home. My love for animals and the fact that I am responsible and trustworthy makes me a perfect fit for you! I would love to meet your furbabies and do whatever I can to help! I work from home so I can be with your animals as much as needed! I have a room mate who will take care of my 3 animals here, which gives me the ability to give all the attention to yours! I can’t take pets into my home, but I can stay at yours full time, part time, or whatever is required! I love all animals and will treat them like my own babies.
“Bethany was really great taking care of my Lola. It was the first time I've had anyone take care of my dog, so I was nervous. Great communication and checked in often, making me feel comfortable the entire time. Thank you!”

“Natalie was terrific. Responsive when I first reached out, sent lots of photos and updates and left the house even cleaner than she found it! I really hope she stays in the area so she can housesit again.”

“Elizabeth was amazing!! She was extremely thorough, and was giving constant updates and pictures while we were out. She went above and beyond to make sure Max was loved and cared for. I had no doubts that Max and our home were in great care, and that kind of feeling is priceless.”

About: I’m an attentive and detail-oriented pet sitter with hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, and a variety of other pets. I grew up with dogs and have extensive experience with overnight stays, ranging from weekend trips to 1–2 week vacations. I take each pet’s routine seriously and make sure their individual care instructions are followed closely - from feeding schedules and medications to exercise, playtime, and their usual routines. I also send regular photo and message updates so you can relax knowing how your pet is doing while you’re away. I’m a powerlifter and active person, so I’m comfortable handling strong, high-energy dogs and providing plenty of exercise. I’m happy to accommodate both short and long walks, playtime, and whatever level of activity is appropriate for your pet. I’m detail-oriented, adaptable, and take pride in providing dependable care that fits each pet’s individual needs. My weekday schedule is primarily in-office, so I’m best suited for overnight stays, mornings and evenings, and I’m fully flexible on weekends. My goal is simple: for your pets to feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for—and for you to have peace of mind while you’re away. I work in an office Monday through Friday, so I’m most flexible on weekends. For pets who are comfortable being home during the workday, I’m available for morning and evening care, overnight stays, and throughout the weekend. I can also accommodate a midday drop-in during my lunch hour for pets who need an extra break or more frequent attention. I’m careful to create a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet. I’m happy to care for pets in my home or their home, depending on the service and what works best for them. Before each stay, I like to go over their routine, care instructions, medications, exercise needs, and your expectations so we’re on the same page. I follow instructions closely and treat your home and belongings with the same care I would my own.
About: My goal is to make sure your pet feels loved & cared for. I also want you to feel at total ease if you need to leave them and allow me to care for them. I know what it’s like to want the best for your pet. I’m a 4th grade teacher starting my second year teaching! My availabilities are generally weekends throughout the day and weekdays after 4/4:30. Pet care is an important part of my routine with my 12 year old Maltipoo. We go on night walks, quick morning strolls & if I’m ever off for the day, we love to go on fun, adventurous car rides. My dog, Pogo, always stays with one of my parents if I’m at work or away. Due to all of our schedules, he is never alone, so he is taken to the bathroom regularly. I like to keep him active & engage with him, allowing him to have the fullest enjoyment. That said, I carry the same actions when pet sitting. They receive full attention from me, because I know how crucial it is for pets to feel loved, especially when their pet parent is away.
About: As a pet owner myself, I understand that leaving your pet can be difficult. I am here to ease your mind with detail and care. I am currently studying and working remotely so I just have some set hours of work I need to do, but I can still keep an eye on your pets I can and will follow any and all instructions for your pets and home. I am responsible and respectful while also very caring towards your pets.
“This was our first time using Rover and having a non-relative/friend watch our kitty, so naturally we were nervous. Sami made us feel so comfortable leaving Tommy with her by sending us lots of pictures and keeping us updated throughout the weekend. Sami was quick to respond to our request for a short notice house sitting. She even came over to our apartment for a meet and greet a few days before the sitting. Tommy, our Main Coon immediately fell in love with her. Sami is very kind and loving, and definitely has a way with animals. We will definitely be requesting her for house sittings in the future!”

About: Most of my pets have been dogs and some of them have been older than a year or two months old, currently open to learn more. Currently looking for a part-time and love dogs. I have been taking care of dogs since I was in elementary school and currently have one. I live in a small apartment and get to walk her around the city and usually walk her two times per day during the weekends
“Erik has a heart and passion for dogs. He's not just a sitter, he's committed to Odin's needs. Odin's breed can be misunderstood and be labeled as difficult by some. Erik has been wonderful at keeping odin on schedule and using the activities I suggest to drain Odin mentally and physically. EVERY time I've come home after Erik's been with Odin, he's been balanced. (Which says a lot as Odin learns to how to navigate his separation anxiety). I feel safe and confident leaving Odin with Erik. I'm sure you will too!”

“John did a wonderful job overnight house sitting for my 2 cats and Husky. While my fur babies are all fairly independent, they need and want a human presence at all times. John did great being there for them and keeping me up to date on their daily shenanigans.”

“Jennifer was amazing with our 4 month old pup! We had to travel last minute and she was able to sit for him in our home. She took the best care of him, sent us pictures and updates, and made our sweet boy even sweeter by the time we got back. So grateful to have found Jennifer and will have her over again and again!”

“Previous canine members of my wife's and my family have had very good experiences boarding with Rover caregivers, but my wife and I realized that Annie, whom we adopted in July, would not be happy in a space other than her own, so, we searched Rover for a house-sitter to care for Annie while we traveled overnight to celebrate Thanksgiving with out-of-town family. My wife and I are very grateful that we were able through Rover to find Quiana and arrange for her to be with Annie while we were away. Our favorable impression of Quiana, created by her prompt response to our initial inquiry, was reinforced and amplified by every subsequent contact with her. Quiana's love of dogs, as well as her knowledge about them and her talents in communicating with them and handling them, were evident during our "meet and greet". She kept us informed about Annie during our absence by sending messages, photos, and videos; the latter indicated to us that Annie was enjoying Quiana's stay thoroughly and not missing us at all! When we returned home we found that Quiana had not only carried out our instructions for her but had 'gone above and beyond' them, as well. The experience overall was exceptional. My wife and I hope that Quiana will be available whenever we need someone to care for Annie in the future, and we recommend Quiana enthusiastically to others who need a house-sitter to care for their dogs.”

Scarlett is outstanding! We booked her for 10-days housesitting. She took great care of our 2 large dogs. One is a mellow senior with medical issues, the other a hyper 1yo. Juggling the 2 so different dogs is not an easy task, but Scarlett did it well and attended to all their needs. The dogs loved her! Scarlett is by far the best sitter we booked through Rover, and we had many fine ones. I trust her 100%.

Ji Hae took care of my dog while i was out of town and she did a wonderful job! My dog had a nice little staycation at home with extra walks and playtime. Always kept me updated with photos and what they were up to. Looks like they both had a good weekend. Thank you again!!

Hannah took exceptional care of our dogs once again. All of our dogs require medication, which she handles with ease. Additionally, she cooked special food for our dog when he had an upset stomach. She also took out our garbages and brought in packages for us. Highly recommend!

Kristina was a life saver!!! Pearl got sick and had some diarrhea before my trip. She was getting better but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving her at my normal boarding place (a daycare) when she wasn’t feeling 100%. I thought I was going to have to cancel my trip but reached out to Kristina the day before and she agreed to stay with her! She finished Pearl’s medicine, took her for daily walks, sent me frequent updates, and also took care of my cat! I was able to go on my trip AND relax knowing my babies were in excellent hands! I would recommend Kristina to anyone and trust her with my babies anytime!!!

I was not sure we could leave our pets for 15 nights! But then we met Cassandra and instantly felt good and comfortable about it. She spent so much time with our two dogs and cats, loved on them, fed, filled water bowls, walked the dogs, watered plants, vacuumed, wiped down, scooped litter boxes, picked up dog poop, etc. We are so grateful for all she did to keep everyone safe and well cared for! Thank you Cassandra!!

Grace was absolutely amazing. As a first time rover user, she took away all the stress and worry I had leaving my boy alone for the first time. She was communicative, patient, sent daily updates and pictures, and overall was very kind and respectful of our space. We will be sure to use her again.

Absolutely amazing experience with Velvet! She took such great care of my two dogs and treated them like her own. I could tell they were happy, comfortable, and well looked after the entire time. Velvet was reliable, attentive, and kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My dogs absolutely loved her, and I truly appreciated how caring and responsible she was. I would 100% book with Velvet again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and loving to care for their pets!

Taylor did an amazing job and I will 100% be bringing her back to babysit my cat Bella. She responds quickly, sent photos every day, kept my apartment clean, took out the trash, and even kept my little plant alive! It’s obvious she is a pet lover and had a great relationship and was so caring for my little kitty. She really brought me so much peace of mind while I was out of town!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Harbor City on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 14,363 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Harbor City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harbor City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harbor City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harbor City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harbor City. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
