“Emily kept our picky Havanese girls stimulated, eager for walks and play, tidied up, and eating (known for their picky eating habits). We received regular photos and videos showing them having a great and relaxing time together. Thank you, Emily, for making our trip possible because the fur babies I had to leave at home were being well taken care of.”

“Bethany was attentive, kind, and a wonderful communicator. My little Ripley was happy and calm with I returned home. I would absolutely recommend Bethany as well as request her services again. Wonderful pet sitter!”

“We needed a sitter for an overnight visit. Julee was on time and took the boyz for a walk right when she got here. Our kitty Tres usually takes several visits to trust anyone. He warmed right up to Julee. The boyz were all well taken care of we will be calling Julee next time.”

About: I have been a sitter for years. It’s just something I love to do because I love animals :) Once I got a fur family of my own (Dog & Cat) I thought it would be fun to be a sitter and do something I love. I always go the extra mile and create content, if the client approves. I work as a music producer and have tons of time for my animal friends! They make my days better 🖤 I love meeting new people and caring for their animal family. It’s just something that brightens my days. I’m very caring and attentive. Always watching out for them to make sure they’re safe and happy. Knowing they’re properly cared for is my top priority.
“Elissa got along with our two dogs very well, giving them good exercise and lots of attention. She was very responsive and understanding. We’ll be in touch when we need a dogsitter again!”

“Britney house sat for me with my 3 pets (1 dog & 2 cats) while I was away visiting family for 5 days. She was an incredible sitter & an A+ communicator! My pets fell in love with her within minutes of her meet-and-greet, & she sent many text updates & photos/videos throughout her stay, which made me feel connected with my pets & reassured me that they were having a good time. Since she has a dog & cat of her own at home, I knew I'd be leaving them in good hands. She was also really quick to respond to my original request, which was so appreciated since it was only 3 days before my trip & I was scrambling after my original sitter canceled. Her younger brother also stopped by occasionally (with my permission, of course) to keep the pets company while Britney was studying & they loved him too! When I got home, the place was clean & the sheets/towels she used were washed & folded. I really appreciate how thoughtful & loving she was. Would definitely book Britney again!”
About: Our pets are just an extension of our family. I grew up in a house with pets and farm animals. I was taught to treat these animals with love and respect and ensure that they had fresh water and food every day.and that they were cleaned-up after, exercised and that they were comfortable. Upon having pets of my own, I raised my kids and now, grandkids, that our pets are special and essential in our lives and need to be treated that way. I have owned strays and mixed breeds, and a lhasa apso to hybrid wolves. A few years back, I started carrying for friends pets in their homes when they traveled. This service brings them peace of mind and comfort when they are away, as they know their sweet pet is being cared for with the same level of care that they provide. And having their pet in their own environment is less stressful of the whole family. I ensure that a regular routine is maintained and that fresh food and water is always available. I walk and/or play with them to entertain and exercise your pet on a daily basis. I am happy to provide updates and pics while you are away. And I make sure that the poop is cleaned up, as well. I am recently retired and have lots of flexibility in my schedule so I am available to walk or provide over-night stays when needed. I care for your pet as you would care for them. I do my best to keep them safe and cared for in the environment they are used to, their own home.
“Dani was a wonderful sitter for our cats and dog. She was very responsible, sent us lots of great photos, and kept our pets very happy and healthy. She also took great care of our home. I highly recommend her!”

“Candace was amazing! Very friendly and understanding of my Lola's needs. Lola really felt comfortable around Candace early on, making me comfortable knowing someone was going to take care of my Baby.”

“Amanda is an amazing pet sitter. From the moment shy Katie met her she was comfortable and within a minute gave her her belly to rrub. Our cat that usually hides when we travel immediately came to Amanda for lovins and never had at all. She is a very nice girl who I felt comfortable not only having watch my pets but also staying on my home. I highly recommend Amanda, really cares about and loves animals. It was nice to receive pics and status updates as my daughter missed the babies immensely.”

“Ivy took a good care of our dogs for 9 days including administering insulin shots to one of our senior dogs. All of our 3 dogs warmed up to Ivy right away because of her calm demeanor, and Abi, the young GSD, even got zoomies while we were away which tells us she was very comfortable with Ivy. Ivy is also a great communicator, flexible, and always punctual. Thank you Ivy!”

“We were nervous to leave our dog as he sometimes shows minor separation anxiety but Armando did such a great job!! He is super calm and laid back but also very responsive to messages. Would definitely book him again.”

“An absolute GODSEND. I've had housesitters and used boarders before, but this was the first time using Rover and I couldn't imagine a better experience for Rover than to have Sharyl as the example I got as a housesitter. She was superb! At a very difficult and stressful time, she was able to housesit for three days and two nights and take care of my two pups (a 40 pound full-of-energy Brittany, and a 18 pound dachshund/terrier mix). She made me feel at ease and comfortable with choosing her, and made them feel taken care of and loved. Excellent dog skills and superior people skills too. I received regular updates on the dogs and pics of them too. Even with a demanding food regimen and the boundless energy of these dogs on their walks, she came through with flying colors! Thank the heavens for her!”
“Kyle agreed to watch our dogs last minute on Thanksgiving. He provided the dogs with lots of play time, enrichment, and attention. We definitely will hire him again. Thanks for letting our dogs run around with Sammie and Callie!”

About: I am an educator and musician who loves animals and enjoys spending time outdoors. I’ve been taking care of animals since I was a child. As an animal lover and cat owner myself, I genuinely enjoy spending time with pets and making sure they feel comfortable, safe, and cared for. Whether it’s a dog walk, a drop-in visit, feeding, playtime, or simply providing companionship while you’re away, I take pride in treating every pet with kindness, patience, and attention. I understand that pets are cherished members of the family, and I strive to provide the same level of care and affection that I would want for my own pet. My professional background has taught me the importance of reliability, genuine care, communication, and attention to detail—qualities I bring to every pet care visit. I look forward to meeting you and your pet! Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I currently work part-time, which gives me the flexibility to arrange my schedule around my clients’ needs and provide dependable care for their pets. The safety and well-being of your pets is always my top priority. I treat every dog and cat as if they were my own and take care to follow each pet’s routine, instructions, and personality needs closely. During dog walks, I use secure leash handling at all times and remain alert to surroundings, other animals, and potential hazards. I avoid unsafe interactions with unfamiliar dogs and always prioritize calm, controlled, and positive experiences for your pet. For cat sitting and drop-in visits, I ensure doors and windows are securely closed, litter boxes are cleaned properly, food and water are refreshed, and your cat is comfortable and stress-free. I also take time to provide companionship and gentle interaction based on each cat’s comfort level. I am reliable, punctual, and communicative, and I provide updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. In case of any emergency, I will contact you immediately and follow any instructions you provide, including reaching out to your preferred veterinarian if needed. My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your pet is safe, cared for, and genuinely looked after while you are away.
“Heather was wonderful with our three dogs and one of the first sitters we ever trusted with them. She immediately put us at ease and took such great care of everything while we were away for a week. One thing we really appreciated was how she reached out with thoughtful questions about each of the dogs personalities and how they get along. It was really nice because it showed she genuinely wanted to get to know them and make sure she was caring for them in the best way possible. One of the biggest bonuses is that she also cleans houses on the side, and it truly shows. We came home to a house that was even cleaner than when we left it, which was such a nice surprise after traveling and made coming home feel so much more relaxing. She was also incredibly thoughtful and flexible when our flight got delayed. She went out of her way to come back later in the evening to let the dogs out, which we really appreciated. She stayed in great communication the entire time and kept us updated, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and detail oriented sitter.”

First time using a pet sitter. Our two pups are both a little bit anxious around new people, and Bethany made them both very comfortable from the start. She kept us up-to-date throughout the stay with info on how they were doing as well as pictures too. Highly recommend her services.

John was kind, thorough, and dedicated to our pups while house sitting for us. They were so happy when we got home which is not usual for when we leave them. John left the home super tidy as well and followed all our instructions. He spent ample time with them during the day and was honest about his other obligations and how much time our dogs would be alone each day, which is much more direct than any of the other sitters we have used. He sent us daily updates and was quick to respond. He was even able to accomodate a last minute request I had for him. We appreciate you, John! And will certainly have you back when we need the help!! Thank you!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 14,154 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across San Pedro. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Pedro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Pedro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Pedro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Pedro. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
