About: Hi, I'm Samantha! I'm a warm, nurturing caregiver with years of experience loving dogs — from owning my own to helping out friends and family with theirs. I know firsthand how much a dog means to a family, and I treat every pup I care for like my own. I'm joined by my daughter Mel, who is my partner in all things dog-related. Mel has a incredibly calm, gentle energy that dogs are naturally drawn to — she's the kind of person a shy or anxious dog will walk straight up to. Together we make a pretty great team. By booking with us, you're also doing something meaningful. Mel lives with blindness, and time with dogs is genuinely something that brings her real joy. Your trust in us gives her that. I'm available mostly during the day and prefer drop-in visits. I gravitate toward calm, gentle dogs who enjoy relaxed company, cuddles, and just being present with people who genuinely adore them. Your dog won't just be checked on — they'll be cherished. I've been caring for dogs for 25 years — practically my whole life. Starting around age 10 I was already responsible for my own dogs, and over the years I've had anywhere from two to seven at a time, spanning every stage of life from energetic puppies to gentle seniors. What I hear most often is that I have a way with animals that's hard to explain. Dogs that are fearful, anxious, or notoriously indifferent to people tend to seek me out anyway. I don't force it — I just make space, and they come. That's been true my whole life. My daughter Mel has six years of her own experience and has a completely natural, unhurried way with dogs. She's the kind of company a dog actually wants — calm, present, no agenda. Just two friends sitting together. Between us, we've handled it all — training, health issues, behavioral quirks, end-of-life care. Dogs in our care are never just managed. They're genuinely enjoyed. We have plenty of daytime availability. Caring for dogs isn't a task for us — it's genuinely the highlight of our day. With my daughters disability (blindness), finding meaningful, joyful experiences is something I'm always intentional about and spending time with dogs delivers that every single time. When visiting your home, I follow your routines exactly as you've set them. I take time to truly connect with your dog rather than just check a box. I'm attentive to their mood, comfort, and needs, and I always leave them calm, loved, and well cared for. You'll never wonder if your pup is okay.

Danielle was a great find! She did drop in visits with our two senior dogs when we were gone for 12 hours. She spent a long time with them each time she dropped in, and gave them tons of attention. They were so happy! She was prompt and responsible and so nice, even sent us update photos. Will definitely book again if we have the chance.

About: Our pets are just an extension of our family. I grew up in a house with pets and farm animals. I was taught to treat these animals with love and respect and ensure that they had fresh water and food every day.and that they were cleaned-up after, exercised and that they were comfortable. Upon having pets of my own, I raised my kids and now, grandkids, that our pets are special and essential in our lives and need to be treated that way. I have owned strays and mixed breeds, and a lhasa apso to hybrid wolves. A few years back, I started carrying for friends pets in their homes when they traveled. This service brings them peace of mind and comfort when they are away, as they know their sweet pet is being cared for with the same level of care that they provide. And having their pet in their own environment is less stressful of the whole family. I ensure that a regular routine is maintained and that fresh food and water is always available. I walk and/or play with them to entertain and exercise your pet on a daily basis. I am happy to provide updates and pics while you are away. And I make sure that the poop is cleaned up, as well. I am recently retired and have lots of flexibility in my schedule so I am available to walk or provide over-night stays when needed. I care for your pet as you would care for them. I do my best to keep them safe and cared for in the environment they are used to, their own home.

Bri is amazing and I could not recommend more! She helped me with drop ins very last minute for my pup. My dog is also very leash reactive but Bri has experience with this and was great with her. She was so kind to bring her toys and my dog loved her. Will absolutely be working with her moving forward. Thank you, Bri!

About: I’ve always naturally connected with animals and genuinely enjoy being around them. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet. I’m very attentive to routines, feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and making sure pets feel comfortable and safe while their owners are away. I know every pet has a different personality, so I try to make them feel relaxed, loved, and cared for like they’re my own. I currently work a hybrid schedule, so I carefully manage my availability to make sure I can provide dependable care and attention during bookings. I’m mainly available Monday-Wednesday and always make time for walks, feeding, playtime, companionship, and updates throughout the stay. I like keeping pets on their normal routine as much as possible so they feel comfortable while their owners are away. I know how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pet with someone else, so I take that responsibility seriously. I always follow owner instructions carefully, respect clients’ homes, and prioritize keeping pets safe, comfortable, and supervised. I’m naturally very patient, calm, and communicative, and I’ll make sure to send updates and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away.

Julee is the BEST! Booked her this time for quick bathroom breaks for our dog while we went through some long in-office days. But have also booked Julee as a weeklong housesitter for our dog and cat, both who require lots of love. It’s clear from their faces in the frequent pictures she sends and their temperament when we got home that Julee is their favorite! We very much trust her with our home and our pets.

About: Hi! I may not have a ton of recent reviews, but I’ve been on Rover since 2019, and animals have always been my passion 🐾 I currently work as a relief veterinary assistant at CAMP LA in San Pedro and have been there for 5 years. Over that time, I’ve worked both full-time and part-time, gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of animals and medical care. These days, I’ve shifted into a more flexible schedule so I can spend time with my baby, but animal care is still a huge part of my life and something I truly love doing. I’m also continuing my education to become an RVT and have a bachelor’s degree in Zoology. I absolutely love what I do, and honestly, I’ll probably be more excited to meet your pet than they are to meet me 😅 During the weekdays, I’m a stay-at-home mom, so my little one is with me. Because of that, I do require pets to be very friendly and comfortable around a baby. She’s gentle and used to animals she treats our two cats like royalty. Current availability: Drop-in visits Dog walks (best for dogs ~40 lbs or under) For larger dogs or house sitting, I’m available during evening/night hours (around 8 PM–4 AM). If your pet is a good fit, I would truly love to care for them and treat them like my own. I currently work as a relief veterinary technician, and since becoming a mom my schedule is more flexible, but my little sidekick comes with me 😊 (don’t worry, she’s friendly… just a tiny gremlin lol). Services I offer: Drop-in visits: All sizes welcome, as long as your dog is friendly House sitting: Available for friendly pets Dog walking: Small to medium dogs preferred; larger dogs are okay for walks during evening/night hours when my baby is asleep (for everyone’s safety) Boarding: Small dogs only (apartment rules), must be friendly with babies and cats My goal is to keep everyone safe, comfortable, and happy me, my baby, and your pet 🐾💛 I live in an apartment (not fenced), so for boarding in my home, I can only accept small dogs. Your pet must be very friendly and comfortable around a toddler and cats, as I have an 18-month-old and two cats at home. My cats are used to dogs as long as the dog is respectful, and my little one is gentle, but safety for everyone is my top priority. Because I’m a stay-at-home mom during the day, pets need to be especially friendly if I’m caring for them while my child is awake. For evening/overnight services (after 8 PM), I’m able to care for pets on my own, but I still require them to be friendly and safe to handle. Why you can trust me: I’ve been pursuing a career in animal care for years. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Humboldt State University and also have my veterinary assistant certification. I’ve worked at CAMP LA in San Pedro for 5 years as a veterinary assistant and currently work as a relief technician on weekends while continuing my education to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). I’ve also volunteered with Marine Mammal Care Center and have two sweet male cats of my own. My goal is simple: To provide a safe, loving, and trustworthy environment where your pet is treated like family. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or just keeping them comfortable, I’ll make sure they feel cared for every step of the way 💛

Bethany is awesome!! I contacted her rather last minute to check in on my skittish cat while I was away for an extended trip. She replied super quickly and we were able to schedule a meeting. My cat is fairly shy, but Bethany took the time and attention to form a bond with him. I would definitely book her again, as she has a lovely personality as well as a wonderful way with animals. About: I have owned 6 dogs through my lifetime, two boxers (Chica and Bella), one fox terrier (Jack), a black mouth cur (Kimber), A pit bull mix (Charlie) and a one eyed Chihuahua (Zoe). I also owned a couple of fish (Cheeto and Elvis) as well as a ferret (also named Jack). I worked as a kennel technician, groomer (I bathed, blow dried and clipped nails only, I did not cut hair) and a doggy daycare counselor as well! I know how to feed, water, walk, bathe, dry and give medications. My love for animals has always gone above and beyond, they deserve nothing less🩷 I have a lot of free time and a goal of starting dental school once I can afford it! If I can reach that goal by meeting and caring for your fur babies, it will be a blessing. I’m available anytime from 8:30 am to 10 pm any day of the week or weekend. I do ask for a 3-4 notice in advance for appointments (scheduling or canceling) please and thank you! For coming to a clients home, I always ask questions and for detailed instructions of pet care. I will follow the schedule, measurements and rules made by the owner to a T. I make sure dogs are being well supervised as well as lots of pets and play time! I am able to take them on walks, give them baths, play, crate and respect the dog (or cat) and owners boundaries. Side note: I cannot do boarding in my own home due to roommates and their pets.

Have been using him for dog sitting for months now and have now also had him drop in to say hi to our bird and cat. Always very pleased with his care! My dog is older and has special needs, in addition to pretty bad separation anxiety. My dog doesn't put up much of a fuss going to his house, which is a testament to how much he likes Armando, his wife, and Buddah! He was also very accomodating with the drop in visit- we had set up the TV to play while we were gone and it messed up, but he was willing to follow the instructions we sent to fix it so that the animals can have entertainment again! Very thankful to have found such a caring and quality sitter.

About: Hi! I’m Candace, a lifelong animal lover and devoted pet parent. I’ve cared for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities from energetic puppies to senior rescues. With a lifetime of experience in pet-sitting, house-sitting, and loving dogs like my own, I truly get animals on a deep level. My own pup of 8 years (a sweet rescue!) has taught me so much about compassion, patience, and the magic of building trust. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and comfort are my top priorities. I am a full-time pet caregiver with open availability, allowing me to give your pet the attention and consistency they deserve. I have years of experience caring for animals and have been around pets my entire life. I offer walks, drop-in visits, in-home care, and boarding. I’m attentive to each pet’s unique personality and needs—whether that means active outings, structured routines, or gentle companionship. After recently losing my own dog, I deeply understand the bond we share with our pets and treat every animal in my care like family. I want your pet to feel safe, loved, and completely at ease while you’re away. I’m happy to care for your pet in your home so they can stay in their familiar environment and routine. I’m very respectful of your space and make sure everything is kept clean and peaceful. If your pet stays with me, they’ll be in a cozy, calm, pet-friendly home where they’ll get lots of love, attention, and a comfortable place to rest. I really tune into each animal’s personality and needs, whether they’re playful, sensitive, or just want a calm presence. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know your pet is happy and safe.

About: We live in a very dog friendly and safe neighborhood. I’m experienced in taking care of special needs dogs as well as non-special needs. If your pup is on a special diet, I have no problem weighing food. As well as administer any meds. I’m currently available to play, walk and take care of your pup. About: Owners will love the care I provide because I'm very loving and respectful of needs/wants. I'm very caring for animals as they need our help as much as possible. I love all kinds of animals. My care experience is based on learning from watching, reading online, or learning on my own experience how to proceed in careful matters. I've learned very risky situations on my dogs that I had in the past that I was not comfortable with but I managed to take risks. So I can say I'm a bit of a risk taker as well, But a safe only if you want me to do. Nothing is done without concerning the owner. These are a bit of what I can do for my dog and try with any other pet. I can bathe, clip nails, comb hair, and come up with tricks with treats granted. Availability comes great with me because I'm home with my fur baby of my own. I'm home throughout the day/night unless I'm doing homework, photography, or at the gym to better myself; Which I love too. This is great as well if you're looking to better your pet well being. So being available is my most accurate thing about me and it works for any working hours of dog owners. My special skills are loving, playing with dogs, and keeping them happy always while spoiling them with my love or treats. haha. I also love to take photoshoots with my fur baby as I'm trying to own my business one day. I love teaching tricks, spending time walking with them, or just hanging out. I'm here for dogs. Dog lover is my passion. If I could own many dogs I would. I'm those extra helping hands. I am here for you! I can take them to play, walk, feed them, and potty/poop. I also can be there for your fur baby on weekends if you like to go out somewhere and have no worries. I'm here for you. I make sure your fur baby is happy, worry-free, and calm and stays to your commands/rules. I give love and accept lovable kisses and messes. I also have a fur baby of my own, so I know what it takes. I can do any service that you want and try my best to succeed with focus and helping needs until you return to your favorite companion.

John did an absolutely incredible job caring for our two cats! We had a last minute booking because of an unplanned trip. John was available right away for a walkthrough, and was extremely attentive throughout. Significantly, both cats took a shine to him during our first meeting, which is rare and turned out to be a good sign! John is a cat person, and cats pick up on this immediately. It's amazing to see. John gave us constant updates, and even made extra visits. He played with the cats and watered our plants, and even gave one cat medication each day. He even sent us very artful photos of our cats! We felt so at ease being away with John caring for our cats. This confidence in John provided us with immense peace of mind and we are so grateful to him for the care and attention he showed to our beloved cats. We cannot recommend John enough... he's absolutely amazing. You cannot possibly find a better cat sitter.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Pedro. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
