“Erik has a heart and passion for dogs. He's not just a sitter, he's committed to Odin's needs. Odin's breed can be misunderstood and be labeled as difficult by some. Erik has been wonderful at keeping odin on schedule and using the activities I suggest to drain Odin mentally and physically. EVERY time I've come home after Erik's been with Odin, he's been balanced. (Which says a lot as Odin learns to how to navigate his separation anxiety). I feel safe and confident leaving Odin with Erik. I'm sure you will too!”

“Absolutely perfect. Jihae watched our three dogs while staying at our house for several nights while we were away. As basically a complete stranger, she went above and beyond what we asked of her, was super communicative, and was overall just perfect. I highly highly recommend.”

“JoAnne did an amazing job caring for our little dog Callie. She gave great updates, photos and I could tell she was taking very good care of our shy skittish dog by hearing how they interacted and food, walk, play, nap updates. Since our dog didn’t do well at the pet hotel, we were very reassured knowing she was getting great care and attention from JoAnne.”

About: Hi, I’m Vanessa! I’ve always had a passion for animals and genuinely enjoy caring for them. I started pet and house sitting for friends and family, and over the past couple of years I’ve also cared for pets through Rover. I enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and making sure they feel comfortable while their owners are away. Cats are my favorite. I love their unique personalities, but I also have experience caring for dogs and birds. Throughout my life I’ve had cats, small and large dogs, and cockatiels, which has given me experience with a variety of pets. I currently have a German Shepherd, so I understand the importance of keeping dogs active, engaged, and well cared for. I’m dependable, detail oriented, and treat every pet like they’re my own. I know every pet has their own routine, and I’m happy to follow it closely, whether that’s feeding schedules, fresh water, litter box cleaning, giving simple medications, or spending extra time playing and keeping them company. I also enjoy sending updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and in good hands. I look forward to meeting you and your pets and helping you feel at ease while you’re away! I’m a self-employed business owner with a flexible schedule, which allows me to adapt to a variety of pet care needs. I offer weekday and weekend availability and am happy to work with you to find a schedule that fits both you and your pets. I take respect and trust seriously, using positive reinforcement and plenty of love. I follow the rules and guidelines set by owners to maintain consistency and respect boundaries. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable environment where pets feel at ease and provide care that keeps them happy and secure in their familiar surroundings.
About: Whether it’s a puppy needing a structured routine or a shy guinea pig needing a quiet friend, I tailor my approach to your pet's specific personality. You’ll receive consistent updates and photos, so you can rest easy knowing your companions are in the hands of a seasoned professional who treats every animal like their own. I am fully First Aid & CPR certified, allowing me to remain calm and capable in any situation. My experience with senior animals means I am well-versed in: • Administering medications with a gentle touch. • Recognizing subtle changes in mobility or behavior. • Providing the extra comfort and specialized care older pets deserve. I am available to schedule dog walks, drop-in/on-call sitting visits and reoccurring walks/visits on weekday mornings through early evenings. I am also available most weekends and holidays with advanced notice We will do a meet and greet and go over a detailed list of your pets food, schedule and meds as well as any instructions.
“Elizabeth is like a spark plug- full of energy and positivity. She is wonderful as a pet sitter and house sitter. She has saved me last minute more than once .She has been wonderful with all my crazy pets. I look forward to having her in my home much more in the future!”

“If possible I will use Allen again! This is the first time I've left my dogs with a stranger and it was a great experience for them and me. Allen sent videos and pictures every day. We were gone for a week and when we returned he'd washed the sheets and vacuumed the house. It was a joy to return home!”
About: I am dedicated to creating a nurturing, safe, and dependable experience for each of your furry family members. I believe it starts with building a trustworthy connection between myself and the owner. My goal is to provide your pet with the same love, patience, and attentive care that I would give my own, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. I have experience caring for many animals such as bearded dragons, tortoises, hamsters, varieties of fish, guinea pigs and dogs. I have also worked with service dogs through community volunteer opportunities. I've cared for many pets of friends and family over the years. I truly love getting to know and learning each of their personalities. Caring for a variety of different animals has strengthened my ability to adapt my care towards each pet's own unique personality and routine. As a college student home for the summer, my schedule is very flexible and allows me to work around your pet's schedule or needs. Being a student athlete, movement is a big part of my daily life. I enjoy staying active and would love to keep your pet company through walks, playtime, and providing plenty of attention. When caring for pets, I take the time to learn their preferences, schedules, and personalities so they feel comfortable and stress-free. I strive to provide the same level of care and attention that I give my own pets. My top priority is reliable communication with you ensuring a safe and calm experience for you and your pet!
“Julia was absolutely fantastic with our dog Charlie. She stayed with him at our house and everything was perfect. He can be a bit demanding sometimes, and Julia was extremely patient and living with him. Her communication was spot on. We revived many updates and photos during our trip. I would 100 percent recommend Julia”

“Ivy took a good care of our dogs for 9 days including administering insulin shots to one of our senior dogs. All of our 3 dogs warmed up to Ivy right away because of her calm demeanor, and Abi, the young GSD, even got zoomies while we were away which tells us she was very comfortable with Ivy. Ivy is also a great communicator, flexible, and always punctual. Thank you Ivy!”

“Reina is an absolute Gem. this was our first time leaving our puppy with someone and after meeting Reina, she is the definition of taking the opportunity to take care of your pet very seriously. She was so dedicated to our Beau, detailed, respectful and communicative. He was her priority and it made it me feel at peace to know he was with her for 5 days. He's also a puppy and I really wanted to find someone that will continue the training, and she didn't miss a beat. She left our home spotless and beyond. Thank you Reina!! We feel very lucky to have found you <3”
“I am very happy with the care Casey gave my Dogs. I felt very comfortable leaving them with her. She sent me pictures and updates so I can see how they’re doing. I diffently would like for Casey to sit for me again next time I go away.”

“Bethany was really great taking care of my Lola. It was the first time I've had anyone take care of my dog, so I was nervous. Great communication and checked in often, making me feel comfortable the entire time. Thank you!”

“Elizabeth was amazing!! She was extremely thorough, and was giving constant updates and pictures while we were out. She went above and beyond to make sure Max was loved and cared for. I had no doubts that Max and our home were in great care, and that kind of feeling is priceless.”

“Britney house sat for me with my 3 pets (1 dog & 2 cats) while I was away visiting family for 5 days. She was an incredible sitter & an A+ communicator! My pets fell in love with her within minutes of her meet-and-greet, & she sent many text updates & photos/videos throughout her stay, which made me feel connected with my pets & reassured me that they were having a good time. Since she has a dog & cat of her own at home, I knew I'd be leaving them in good hands. She was also really quick to respond to my original request, which was so appreciated since it was only 3 days before my trip & I was scrambling after my original sitter canceled. Her younger brother also stopped by occasionally (with my permission, of course) to keep the pets company while Britney was studying & they loved him too! When I got home, the place was clean & the sheets/towels she used were washed & folded. I really appreciate how thoughtful & loving she was. Would definitely book Britney again!”
“Lillian has cared for our home and dog multiple times, and every experience has been absolutely wonderful. From the moment she arrives, it’s clear how much she loves and understands animals. Our spoiled and often grumpy dog lights up with excitement every time he sees her, which tells me everything I need to know about how well she takes care of him. Not only does she go above and beyond to ensure our dogs happiness and well-being, but she also takes great care of our home. Knowing she’s there gives me complete peace of mind. I stress less while away because I know everything is in the best hands. It’s a relief to return to a clean, well-cared-for home and a dog who seems happier than ever.”

About: I have owned pets my whole life and have a passion for taking care of furry friends! I began sitting for friends and neighbors when I was really young and grew up helping my grandmother and aunt who both ran their own doggy daycare and sitting businesses. I am well versed in dog walking, stopping in to check on pups, and overnight stays. While I am most experienced in smaller to medium sized dogs I have watched over all types of breeds and I am confident in taking care of any dog! I currently have a part time job that only takes up about 6-7 hours a week. I am extremely flexible and available early mornings and late nights. Pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities! I make sure to create a clean, safe, and comfortable environment to make sure your dog feels at home. I am extremely attentive and take care instructions very seriously. I will always ensure that your dog receives the right amount of supervision, exercise, and affection!
“Gabby provided exceptional care for our dog. From our initial meeting, her professionalism and thoroughness were immediately apparent; she asked insightful questions that covered details we hadn't even considered. We truly appreciated the consistent updates and photos she shared throughout the stay. Upon our return, our home was in pristine condition. Furthermore, the training tips she provided have already proven effective. We are incredibly pleased and will definitely be booking her services again!”

“Carolyn totally took care of my special needs 15 year old honey bunny Sonny. I will definitely be a repeat customer. Sonny is a bit high maintenance with his health and Carolyn met all his needs. She was active in communicating and let me have some peace of mind while I was away for work. House and pup were great when I got back. Sonny and I thank you Carolyn and we are so greatful.”

“When I say, Haylee is amazing. I truly mean it. She was so informative and considerate of letting me know what was going on while she was cat sitting. And I love that she sent me pictures during the stay. I will definitely be booking her again in the future.”

We were out of town for two weeks on vacation and Madison did a fantastic job with house sitting. Great communication, details on concerns and the house was very clean when we came back. Madison even went out of her way to take our dog to the vet for a quick recheck of an injury. Our pup was in very good hands! Highly recommend!

Jack was beyond wonderful with our very sassy yet loving Cavapoo, Coconut. We were a bit weary about this process and weren’t sure what to expect but meeting Jack for the first time along with how he took care of our precious Coconut quickly dissolved any of those apprehensions. He was so timely, attentive, detail-oriented and loving towards Coconut. He demonstrates good judgment and is so kind and considerate. We just really appreciated him. Thank you so much, Jack. We are so grateful to you!!

Callie is a very caring and kind pet sitter. I contacted her last minute and she was careful to follow me instructions. My dog was a recent rescue that had fear issues and Callie won her over. I received daily updates and videos and pictures of Bunny doing her daily routine. Callie really understood Bunny’s needs and helped her bloom while I was away. She helped with a few household things and I appreciate that. I will definitely be using her again.

Andrea came and stayed with Hattie for the first time and it couldn’t have gone better. Andrea was very intuitive with Hattie and her needs. She was a great communicator, which is a stress reliever for me when I can’t be there. And most importantly Hattie loved her!! Thanks Andrea. Until next time!!

Chloe was wonderful. She was really helpful, especially with it being a last minute booking and holiday. She took great care of the animals and the house was left exactly how it was. She was very communicative, cooperative, and came to meet everyone without hassle. I highly recommend her!

FAQs for House Sitting - Rolling Hills Estates
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Rolling Hills Estates on Rover is $73.53 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 14,557 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rolling Hills Estates. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rolling Hills Estates walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rolling Hills Estates maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rolling Hills Estates choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rolling Hills Estates. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
