About: I’ve been caring for animals my entire life. Growing up on a ranch, I helped raise and care for all kinds of animals including rabbits, cats, and dogs, learning hands-on responsibility and compassion from a young age. I bring decades of experience and have a special love for senior pets. Since 2011, I’ve rescued and cared for older dogs, giving them comfort, attention, and love in their final years. Two of my own cats lived to be 20, so I understand the dedication needed for long-term care. Whether it’s a playful puppy, a shy rescue, or a senior pet, I treat every animal like family. Friends and neighbors have trusted me for years to nurture, love, and care for their pets and I’d be honored to do the same for yours. I work part-time remotely, which gives me a flexible schedule to dedicate to your pet. This allows me to provide consistent attention, care, and companionship tailored to each animal’s needs. Your pet’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I follow your pet’s routine closely, provide attentive supervision, and maintain a calm, comfortable environment. With decades of experience — from ranch animals to senior dogs, cats, and small pets — I provide patient, loving, and reliable care that pet parents can trust.
“Jennifer took great care of our dog Kiki. She came to visit prior to the booking and spent time getting to know Kiki, who was then so excited to see her when she arrived for the weekend. Jennifer took lots of photos and kept us well updated and Kiki seemed to be very relaxed and comfortable in her presence. We look forward to having Jennifer come to stay again.”

“We were extremely happy with Leanna and Julio! They genuinely cared about all our animals and took immaculate care of our house for two weeks while we vacationed. We got regular updates and pictures and they really respected our home, following all the instructions we left. I won’t hesitate to reach out to them again.”

“Sage was great! She stayed overnight at our home with our 6 month old pup, Oakley, and immediately put us at ease. She was communicative from the start, made sure we went over all care details before we left, and asked thoughtful questions. Throughout the stay, she sent several check-in texts with photos, which we truly appreciated, especially since this was our first night away. She paid attention to detail, followed Oakley’s routine, and left our home neat and clean. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her!”

“We found ourself in need of care for our Kat on short notice and are ever so grateful for the truly amazing response that we received from Sienna! She is a delightful human filled with sunshine and joy. Our home was well cared for and our Kat was so happy to have someone share his space. Amazing!”

“Thanks Ariel for taking care of our cats and dogs. Our pets were healthy and happy when we got home. Overall Ariel did a good job in caring for them and making sure they stayed safe.”

“Lacey watched our dog at our house while we were gone for a long weekend and was excellent. Our dog had a great time and we felt great knowing that Lacey was taking great care of her, taking her on long walks and giving her lots of love. Lacey is great with dogs and has a calm presence that helps keep our dog mellow. This is our second time having Lacey dog sit and we’ll definitely do it again!”

“Jeniffer is a truly wonderful person and a gifted animal caregiver. We were so fortunate to have her watch out doggy for a long day we both needed to be out of town. Our pup completely fell in love with her. Happy to give Jeniffer our highest possible recommendation!”

“Brooke did an amazing job! We have a 75 lb Pitbull that can be stubborn at times. We also have two cats. She made sure everyone got the love and attention they needed. We will have Brooke back as often as we needed her.”

“We couldn't have asked for a better house sitter. She was responsive and easy to reach the whole time, sent regular updates so we never had to wonder how things were going, and took great care of everything we asked — including our dogs and home. It gave us real peace of mind while we were away. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable and communicative.”

About: I was born into a family with Saint Bernards, and over my lifetime have owned seven Saints plus an English Mastiff, a pittie mix, a cat, birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, and horses. I've been described by friends and family as a dog whisperer, and I can't help but make friends with any dog I see. I've been dogsitting for friends and family on the side for years now, doing overnight visits, extended stays, and drop-ins for potty, walks, and meals. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, but I've always had a soft spot for the giant breeds. I was a cross country runner and still live an active lifestyle, so long walks and runs are no problem. I can also do transportation to vet visits, doggy day care or walks at dog parks, etc. I'm looking forward to taking care of your furry family members! I am widely available for scheduling. I have a few steady clients with regular visits, but I can work with you and figure out the best schedule! As a lifelong animal owner, I understand the needs of many animals, as well as the feelings that owners have towards their furry friends. My initial clients were friends, but through the established trust and word of mouth recommendations, that list has grown. When doing overnight or extended stays, I will always bring in the mail, take out the trash, and perform any other household duties you may need. I've cared for sick dogs, handled emergency situations, and taken care of urine and other medical samples for my clients. Whatever you need, I can accommodate.
“Dakota is fantastic!! This is her second time watching Nash, my 11-month-old golden retriever. She’s the first person I ask now when I need someone to stay with him. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and spending time with them. I know he’s in good hands when I leave him with her! She’s friendly, communicative and reliable! She’s my go-to sitter for Nash!”

About: With 12 years managing a nonprofit animal rescue, I bring hands-on experience in both daily care and veterinary needs. I’m confident with all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including special needs pets—your furry family is safe with me! While house sitting, I do work Thursday–Monday and am off Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I usually head out around 6:30–7am, but I have flexibility in my schedule and can sometimes work from home. I make sure all pets are well cared for with plenty of attention, exercise, and love before and after my workday. I know how important it is for pets to feel safe in their own home. I do my best to keep everything consistent—from feeding and walks to their favorite cuddle spots. Whether your pet needs extra attention, quiet companionship, or lots of snuggles, I’m there to make their time without you as stress-free as possible.

About: I’ve had dogs all my life. I learned responsibility by having dogs all my life. The attachment and care I have for animals is tremendous. My heart is full because of them and it breaks when they’re hurting or sad. I take a lot of pride in the way I care for my own animals. I always put their needs first. I even took a remote job so I can spend more time with them. When my dog got sick I was constantly monitoring, medication handling, and I never put her health to the side. I act quickly. I also am very careful with who the dogs I take care of come in contact with. I can read dogs body language and will not force them to be in a situation they don’t like. Some dogs are friendly and some like their space. It is important for me to create space. It doesn’t matter if a dog is small and won’t hurt a fly, they can agitate a dog that can hurt them. I have even saved a yorkie from being attacked by a dog. This wasn’t under my care but I knew what to do and stepped in. I currently work remote. This means I can take out the pups for play and for a walk. I live right down the street from a park. And prioritize taking the pups out 2-3 times a day. Making sure they’re out for more than an hour. I have a small back yard and 3 friendly dogs. One old Shih Tzu, a heeler, and a yorkie. They love to play but love to protect their home so they will always be loud when someone is at the door.. I always treat the pups the same. I know how worried I am leaving my heeler behind so I know to take good care of new pups because I know they’re missing their parents too! As for someone else’s home. I do the same! Obviously respect the home but work in a schedule to accommodate what I need to get done but also create play, walk, or enrichment play.
“Erin was so great with Wallace! She was flexible before booking to arrange a meet and greet, and I could tell Wallace instantly was at ease around her. We booked her to stay our our home with our pup for 10 days, and she was more than a perfect houseguest, on top of a great dog sitter. She was very communicative, sending updates and photos throughout our time away, and left the house extra clean for when we came home. We even had a delayed flight returning home, where we potentially were going to need to be gone another night, and Erin was more than willing to stay an extra night if we needed, and went back to our house once more to check on Wallace because of our delays. We will absolutely be booking Erin again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ventura
Absolutely amazing. We truly could not have asked for a better dog sitter. Thank you so much! Communication throughout our trip was excellent, and we were able to travel with complete peace of mind knowing our boy was not only well cared for, but genuinely loved. We received regular updates, photos, and thoughtful check-ins that made us feel connected even while we were away. It is clear that Mookie was happy, comfortable, and in great hands. We came home to a relaxed, well-cared-for pup and a spotless house. We are incredibly grateful and would not hesitate to book again. Highly, highly recommend!

Lucas took great care of my very energetic doggo. He took him on little walks and trips, cuddled with him, and kept him on his regular feeding schedule. He took great care of my home, kept everything clean and was great at communicating anything that was going on. Would definitely recommend!

Leanna and Julio did a wonderful job looking after Clementine and the house. Clementine loves them and really enjoyed having them take care of her. The house was clean when we got back home from traveling. Leanna did a great job keeping up communication and we were always kept aware of everything going on. I highly recommend Leanna and Julio for any and all of your pet care needs.

Leslie was the perfect sitter to take care of Phife and our home. Not only did she offer to arrive a few hours early, but she stayed a few hours late until we returned home after some delays. She was very communicative & extremely thorough in making sure she had every detail about our dog. We felt so comfortable leaving Phife in her care. She also kept the house in tip-top shape; it didn't even feel like someone stayed here after she left. 10/10 would rebook again / recommend to anyone!

Saul and little Baffy took care of my 2 yorkie pups. He couldn’t have done a better job! They both understood the yorkie temperament, and I loved that Baffy became friends with them. By the time I arrived home, they were both exhausted which indicated they had plenty of walks and play time. I had specific feeding instructions (my yorkies eat organ meat) and had no issues following them, including monitoring the three of them during their meal. Thank you, Saul and Baffy!

FAQs for House Sitting - Ventura
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ventura on Rover is $45 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,478 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ventura. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ventura walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ventura maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ventura choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ventura. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
