We feel incredibly fortunate to have found Madelina! Before our week-long trip to Canada, she took the time to build a relationship with our two dogs, Xena and Pocket, through several walks and drop-in visits. That thoughtful introduction made all the difference and gave us complete confidence while we were away. Throughout our trip, Madelina kept us updated with thoughtful messages and the sweetest photos that showed just how happy, relaxed, and loved our pups were. Those updates brought us so much peace of mind. What truly sets Madelina apart is the care she extends beyond pet sitting. She kept our home in immaculate condition, neatly stacked our mail, faithfully watered our flower and vegetable gardens, and even took the initiative to add an extra day of watering because of the summer heat. When we returned, she had washed the sheets and towels and somehow left our refrigerator cleaner and more organized than we had left it! The greatest compliment we can give is that Xena and Pocket were completely themselves when we got home—happy, content, and without a trace of stress or anxiety. It was clear they had been loved and cared for as if they were her own. Madelina is truly a gem. She is dependable, thoughtful, proactive, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. We wholeheartedly recommend her to any pet family looking for a trustworthy dog walker or pet sitter. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and look forward to having her care for Xena and Pocket again!

Jennifer was very calm and patient with my anxious dog. She listened to my concerns and was happy to follow my directions. She sent me updates with pictures so I didn’t worry. She was respectful of my home. I’m hoping Scoot will develop a relationship with Jennifer and she can be his regular sitter!

About: I've been around animals my entire life and currently have two dogs and two cats of my own, so I understand the love, patience, and responsibility that comes with caring for pets. I'm comfortable with dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels, as well as cats. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or simply having someone keep them company, I'll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always strive to provide reliable, loving care. I currently work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to accommodate walks and drop-in visits throughout the day with a little advance notice. Because I work remotely, I'm able to be responsive and provide dependable care while giving your pet the attention they deserve. Whether you need regular weekday walks or occasional help, I'm happy to work with your schedule whenever possible. I have a fenced yard where your dog can feel comfortable exploring and have fun. I can also let them inside on rainy days, if need be.

Provides regular updates on Buddy and his friends while we were gone. Kept house clean and kept. Would definitely hire again!

About: I've been taking care of animals since I was a child. I had two senior dogs of my own that I have had since they were both puppies. Two older cats and one kitten have made it into our lives. I used to work at a doggy daycare center where I would watch, feed, and bathe any dog there. I currently work at a vet clinic and can administer any medications necessary for your pets health. I currently work full-time at a vet clinic in Ventura. I work from 7:40am to 5pm. I can do boarding and sitting any day of the week as long as you give me a few days notice. For walk-ins and drop-ins, I am also available in the morning before 7am and after 5pm. If you reside in Ventura I can provide a midday drop in or walk as well. I have a fenced in backyard with plenty of room for your fur babies to roam around. If your pet needs any kind of medication or any special care, I will be more than happy to be able to do that for you while you are away.

Erin was so great with Wallace! She was flexible before booking to arrange a meet and greet, and I could tell Wallace instantly was at ease around her. We booked her to stay our our home with our pup for 10 days, and she was more than a perfect houseguest, on top of a great dog sitter. She was very communicative, sending updates and photos throughout our time away, and left the house extra clean for when we came home. We even had a delayed flight returning home, where we potentially were going to need to be gone another night, and Erin was more than willing to stay an extra night if we needed, and went back to our house once more to check on Wallace because of our delays. We will absolutely be booking Erin again!

About: I just love dogs and cats. The last three years is the only time I haven’t had a pet in my 27 years on this earth! I am extremely active and love the beach and hiking so I am more than up to take your dog out for some great adventures. Not to mention I have had everything from shitzus and jack russels to pitties and rottweilers. My first job ever was walking dogs around my neighborhood, so I am more than familiar with the gig and all types of dogs! I’m a student working full time, however I have plenty of weekday availability during the day and morning as well as into the evenings. In fact, I’d love nothing more to make time for your pets as I have had dogs and cats all my life up until the past few years and need more time for them! If you need me to come to your home to look after your pet, I will treat both your home and your furry friend as my own. If needed as well, I have no qualms taking your pet to the beach, on a hike, or whatever you’d like for some enrichment for them!

Saul and little Baffy took care of my 2 yorkie pups. He couldn’t have done a better job! They both understood the yorkie temperament, and I loved that Baffy became friends with them. By the time I arrived home, they were both exhausted which indicated they had plenty of walks and play time. I had specific feeding instructions (my yorkies eat organ meat) and had no issues following them, including monitoring the three of them during their meal. Thank you, Saul and Baffy!

FAQs for House Sitting - Ventura

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ventura on Rover is $48.15 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,466 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ventura. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ventura walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ventura maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ventura choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ventura. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
