About: I was born into a family with Saint Bernards, and over my lifetime have owned seven Saints plus an English Mastiff, a pittie mix, a cat, birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, and horses. I've been described by friends and family as a dog whisperer, and I can't help but make friends with any dog I see. I've been dogsitting for friends and family on the side for years now, doing overnight visits, extended stays, and drop-ins for potty, walks, and meals. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, but I've always had a soft spot for the giant breeds. I was a cross country runner and still live an active lifestyle, so long walks and runs are no problem. I can also do transportation to vet visits, doggy day care or walks at dog parks, etc. I'm looking forward to taking care of your furry family members! I am widely available for scheduling. I have a few steady clients with regular visits, but I can work with you and figure out the best schedule! As a lifelong animal owner, I understand the needs of many animals, as well as the feelings that owners have towards their furry friends. My initial clients were friends, but through the established trust and word of mouth recommendations, that list has grown. When doing overnight or extended stays, I will always bring in the mail, take out the trash, and perform any other household duties you may need. I've cared for sick dogs, handled emergency situations, and taken care of urine and other medical samples for my clients. Whatever you need, I can accommodate.
“Sarah was fantastic!! One of my girls is a bit persnickety so she doesn’t necessarily like everyone, but she took to Sarah pretty quickly. I would definitely use her again and she deserves a 10+ rating..”

About: I’ve had dogs since I can remember. Guard dogs, and house dogs as well varying from Dalmatians, Rottweilers, pitbull mixes all the way down to a Chihuahua and Pugs. I can handle dogs pretty well, and cats… psh I’m basically an expert having 2 and taking care of ferals/ cat colonies. I love all pets and consider my own, the children I never had :) I’m currently working M-F from 0730-1500. I am free on the weekends and usually anytime after 1430. I can leave work if need be as well to let your babies out. I keep my cats inside and trust I won’t let yours get out. I’m quite savvy in my ways, living with dogs all my life and dealing with a fence jumping Husky.
“Kristina is great. She stayed at my home with pherra and sent me pics and pherra always looked so happy. It was great being away and not have to worry about my sweet girl. I totally recommend Kristina and will definitely use her again!”

“Flor was an absolute delight to work with. You can tell she loves dogs, and Lily loved her right back. Flor kept us updated on feedings and activities, as well as reports on how Lily was doing overall. She left the house very neat and tidy too. We felt very comfortable leaving Lily with Flor for our trip, and I look forward to booking her again!”

“Lacey watched our dog while we were gone for an overnight trip. She was great! She has a nice calm presence that our energies dog responded very well to. We returned to a happy and well cared for dog and we will definitely be using Lacey again!”

“Sienna was great! Communicative and responsive- she would send daily updates on the pups and plenty of photos which were very much appreciated. We would definitely have her come stay at our home and watch the pups again! Thank you :)”

“Mariah was incredible watching my Ruby. She clearly is a dog person and treats dogs with so much love and respect. She took her on all sorts of outings, to the dog park, on walks, and totally rolled with the more high maintenance parts of a frenchie. She sent tons of updates and even washed something my dog had an accident on. I would (and plan to) her again in a heartbeat!”

“Sage truly went above and beyond while pet sitting for our girl Penny over the week of Thanksgiving. We can't begin to express how happy we were. She took the time leading up to the trip to meet Penny, learn her schedule and mannerisms, what she liked and didn't like and it's clear they have a bond with one another. Over our trip Sage sent lots of videos, updates, and photos which we loved. Sage was very kind and accommodating for our senior girl and made her feel very calm and relaxed with us gone for the holidays. When questions came up, for example about Penny being a picky eater, Sage reached out in a very calm and professional manner to talk with us. She not only left our house as we left it, but cleaner! She took the time to pick up the guest room and do the laundry on her own accord. Sage is an amazing dog sitter and made us feel very comfortable being away from home knowing Penny was in good hands. She has nothing but our heartfelt thanks, admiration, and we'll continue to work with her for our future trips and walks where Penny needs someone we know we can trust.”

“So thankful to have found Leanna & Julio! We had 2 last minute cancelations and they were able to help us out to house and corgi sit our 2 boys within a weeks notice. Leanna was very communicative and immediately put me at ease leaving Stevie & Dexter in her care for a long weekend. I received several videos and loved seeing our pups so happy and getting plenty of walks! I would highly highly recommend Leanna & Julio and will definitely be using them again in the future!”

“Albie was great with watching our dog while we were on a trip. There was some time to get warmed-up, but he pushed through and was able to have good interactions with him after a couple days. He is great about sending pictures and updating us on how things are going. We appreciated that he followed instructions and took good care of our dog.”

“Maria is better than great. She was wonderful with our cats and always kept me informed with pictures, also. I highly recommend Maria except we want to have her continue to be our catsittter so she can't get too busy!”
“Dakota is fantastic!! This is her second time watching Nash, my 11-month-old golden retriever. She’s the first person I ask now when I need someone to stay with him. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and spending time with them. I know he’s in good hands when I leave him with her! She’s friendly, communicative and reliable! She’s my go-to sitter for Nash!”

“Valeria did a great job of caring for our dog while we were gone for a week. I would trust her to care for a pet again without hesitation. Juno was happy when we returned, and also looked happy and relaxed in the pictures Valeria sent while we’re traveling. She gets five stars from us!!”

About: Helped take care of a geriatric dog who was incontinent and lost the use of her legs in the last year of her life. Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Santa Paula on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,207 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Santa Paula. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santa Paula walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santa Paula maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santa Paula choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Santa Paula. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
