“Alex took great care of my pups and my home while I was out of the country. I left with great peace of mind but he still sent many updates and photos throughout. Will use again! Thanks!”

“Sarah helped us out in a pinch when we had to urgently travel for a funeral and needed help sitting our lovable but quirky Jack Russel Terrier Rosie. She made a point to adjust her schedule to learn all the aspects of Rosie’s care beforehand, and then followed the instructions to the letter! Rosie had a wonderful time, and we had no worries while we were traveling because Sarah sent frequent updates. I look forward to having her return whenever we need to travel!”
“Ali is a warm and caring dog sitter. I felt so much ease with her here when we were out of town. My dog ate his food which he doesn't like to eat when we're gone. I appreciated the photos and notes. We'll definitely use Ali again. 🐕🐶🥰”
“Julie was just amazing. Great communication about my dogs while I was away on my trip, she took lots of photos and videos of my puppies. She also went above and beyond...she picked up all the dog poop in the yard, she bought my dogs had a bunch of new toys and chew bones, she washed their dog bowls, she even toped off their water bowls before she left. Would definitely book her again.”

“This is my third time using Kaleigh and she continues to be an outstanding service provider. Very professional, courteous and responsible. My cat had no problem getting to know and trust Kaleigh as she takes great care of her. My strongest recommendation.”

“When we found Kris, we were in a pickle with our two pups. Kris came by to meet and greet, and my pups instantly latched onto her! While we were gone we got updates and photos which made this so much easier as we have two older pups! Kris also washed and folded the linens from the bed before we arrived home! Five Stars for sure!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Mikaela as our cat-sitter. She is sweet, punctual, reliable, and wonderful with our cat. We felt completely comfortable leaving our cat and home in her care and appreciated her updates while we were away. Highly Recommended!!!!”

About: I have been fortunate to walk family friends dogs and learn that they love to either sleep for a while or go on lots of walks. Pet care fits into my days because I usually work doing the weekend. So I usually can watch pets and do homework during the week. I always ask the client what are the rules and what they need from me so the pet is always safe and happy. I always follow client instructions.

“We’ve been repeat customers of Kimberly because she is so great with our big dog! She house sits for us when we take extended trips and we always come home to our dog being well exercised and cared for. He gets a nice holiday with Kimberly while we are in holiday! She’s also a great house guest, collects our mail, takes out the trash and leaves our home tidy. Kimberly goes the extra mile and is your dog’s best friend while you’re away. I always have peace of mind with my fur baby in her hands! Thanks again”

About: I’ve been caring for pets since I was 16, so I have years of experience with animals of all ages and personalities, from energetic puppies and playful kittens to older pets who need extra patience and love. I currently have two dogs and a cat, and I’ve raised them since they were young, so I understand the attention, training, and care every animal needs. I’m an athlete and love going on walks, so I can keep up with high-energy dogs or take long, leisurely strolls with older pets. I’m also comfortable handling feisty or shy pets, and I always focus on building trust, keeping pets safe, and making sure they feel happy and loved while their owners are away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, cuddles, or just companionship, I treat every animal like family and adapt to their unique personality and needs. I’m willing to go the extra mile (literally and figuratively) to make sure your pets feel cared for, safe, and comfortable. I just finished school and currently work as a waitress for about 4 hours a day, which leaves me with plenty of free time. I’m looking to spend those off-hours doing something I genuinely love caring for pets. My schedule is really flexible, so I’m able to fit in walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting throughout the day and week. Whether you need regular visits or last-minute help, I’m happy to make it work around my shifts. When I’m caring for pets in my client’s home, I follow their routine as closely as possible so their pet feels safe and comfortable. I stick to feeding schedules, walk times, playtime, and any special instructions you leave. I take the time to get to know each pet’s personality whether they’re playful, shy, or extra cuddly and make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and reassurance while you’re away. I also respect your space by keeping everything clean, secure, and exactly how you left it. When caring for pets in my own home, I have a fully fenced yard where dogs can play and explore safely. My dogs are kept in my garage during visits so your dog has full freedom to roam in the yard or, if they are an indoor dog, stay inside the house comfortably. I already have two dogs and a cat, so I’m used to managing different personalities and making sure everyone feels safe and happy. Walks, playtime, and lots of love are always part of the day. No matter where your pet is, my goal is always the same: to keep them safe, happy, and loved just like they’re part of my own family.
“Claire was such a wonderful person to have care for our dog, Momo! i received daily updates on their adventures and I never worried about how Momo was doing. He had an absolute blast with her, and when I came home Claire had left the apartment where she stayed with Momo clean and just as great as I had left it! Thanks again Claire and Momo can’t wait to see you again soon.”

“Austin is the best pet sitter we have used to date. He was friendly and responsive. He took great care of our pup and even looked after some monarch butterflies we had hatching for our daughter in the backyard ;) He went over the top to clean up after himself and even throw in a load of laundry to clean the linens he had used. HIGHLY recommend! We will definitely use him again :)”

About: Hi I’m Ayaan! I’m a passionate animal lover who has grown up around both cats and dogs my entire life. Caring for animals has always been a big part of who I am, and I truly enjoy spending time with pets of all personalities and energy levels. I regularly help care for my neighbors’ pets when they’re out of town, which has given me experience with feeding, walking, playtime, and making sure pets feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your furry family members, and I will treat your pets with the same care, attention, and affection that I would give my own. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! 🐾 When I’m not at school during the week, I am walking my dog in the morning and evening and playing with my cat at home In my clients home, I will make sure that the pets needs are met by being attentive to their behavior and also playing with them
About: I have been a pet sitter since I was in middle school and have had the pleasure and opportunity to care for many different furry companions! I am no stranger to administering medications and have pet-sit many different dogs and cats of all sizes and shapes! I am currently a college student who loves taking care of all kinds of fur babies! You can be sure I will have plenty of time to play with your pups and kittens to their hearts’ content! I’m still getting used to how this app works with its settings, so if you have any questions about pricing and schedule, shoot me a text so we can discuss it! I'm willing to talk things out if you can't initially afford my rates! ¡También soy fluida en español! My clients will always receive the best care that I can possibly give them. Every animal is different and has different needs, and I am prepared to meet them all! If necessary I will administer medications and clean up messes! I take great pleasure in making your best furry friends feel safe and loved! Your pets are my clients too!

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I got my first puppy at six years old, and since then I haven’t been able to imagine a life without animals. I’ve cared for trained and untrained dogs, playful puppies, senior pups who need more assistance and everything in between. I have also been around kitties with all different personalities and needs. While my professional pet care experience has reached almost two years, I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by animals and I have yet to meet a pet I couldn’t love. I strive to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while they’re with me. I am currently a student who is also completing a CNA course for the duration of the summer. My schedule is open for your pets besides my allotted class time which is on Tuesday's, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4.5-6 hours at a time. Since I will be gone for quite some time during the day, I would love to tire them out however they need it. Any other day of the week I would be happy to spend the whole day with your furry friends! In my home or yours, I will create a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for your loved ones. I am experienced in adapting to each pet’s unique needs, personality, and routine. I also believe that communication is key, so I will keep you updated with regular messages, photos, and check ins to ensure you always know how your furry family member is doing. My goal is to give you peace of mind while providing your pet with the care, attention, and affection they deserve.

About: I’ve been watching cats and dogs for the past few years and I absolutely love spending time with them! Whether it’s going on a walk with them or playing with them, I will provide the best care. I’m currently working as a part time babysitter a few days a week, so my schedule is very flexible. I am able to work with your schedule to create the best possible plan for you and your animals! Typically when watching animals, I prefer to go to my client’s home as the animals are already adjusted to their environment. I’m willing to be flexible with my preferences!
“Kristina is great. She stayed at my home with pherra and sent me pics and pherra always looked so happy. It was great being away and not have to worry about my sweet girl. I totally recommend Kristina and will definitely use her again!”

“Natalie get 10 stars! What a fantastic sitter for our dog, Rip. Natalie was on time to the house and she followed all of our instructions for our dogs care. Natalie was so loving and allowed him to love her and bond with her. She put play dates together to give our dog more interaction with other pups his age and that was excellent. She sent us daily progress reports with pictures of our dog and that kept us close and informed. She stayed at our house and she left it cleaner than she found it. I’ve already recommended her to neighbors because great sitters are hard to find! 😊”

About: Helped take care of a geriatric dog who was incontinent and lost the use of her legs in the last year of her life. I have had animals in my home all my life, from dogs, cats, birds, and lizards. I usually work a couple of days a week for half days at Michaels. I am available for check-ins most mornings and in the afternoons. I live in a condo with tons of space for running around. I have two of my own cats, and any boarders would have to be fine with them. My cats have their space. I respect any habits and boundaries you have at your house for your pet. I can brush and clean up after the pet, and play their favorite game.
“Emily was wonderful. She cared for our pups with love and kindness. She was awesome about sending updates and photos regardless of the difference in time zones (we were in Japan). The house was neat and tidy when we arrived home after our long flight. The pups were happy and fed. It was so nice knowing that we could enjoy our trip and focus on fun rather than worry about our pups. 10 stars to Emily who we have booked for two more trip!”

Kris was great with our pup Oakley! She took the time to ask questions that helped her be prepared and kept up with Oakley’s routine. We appreciated the pictures and check ins while we were away and would definitely trust her to care for Oakley in the future.

This is the second time Alexis has stayed at my home, and this time she sat both my resident Aussie, Max, and a foster dog, Marley. This was a big experiment since it was the first time Marley had stayed with a sitter. Alexis was incredible. She dealt with so much with the stressed and anxious foster dog while I was gone (potty accidents, giving medicine, cleaning up a broken glass he pulled off the counter, etc.). Marley is a bit of an escape artist, and she made sure he was safe the whole time and couldn’t sneak out. She also kept in regular communication with me which was essential for this stay. I’m so grateful for her care and effort while I was on my weeklong vacation! Thank you so much, Alexis! :)

I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for Cooper. Danielle kept in contact with me, sent pictures and answered my texts in quick time. Cooper was very happy. This was a 5 night stay in my home and the house was in perfect shape when we arrived. I would highly recommend her and will ask her again. It was a pleasure to know we could get away and not have to worry. Thank you, Danielle!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Somis on Rover is $58.83 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 3,085 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Somis. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somis walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somis maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somis choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somis. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
