David was fantastic with our troublemakers. He sent daily updates. He even went out and bought a new leash after one of our dogs ate through two! The house was super clean when we got back. Couldn’t even tell anyone had been here. Super happy and will definitely use him again!

About: What sets me apart as a sitter is that I’ve lived with animals my entire life and truly love caring for them. I have experience with both cats and dogs, and I understand their routines, personalities, and needs. I own cats, and many of my friends have dogs and cats that I’ve helped take care of, giving me hands-on experience with different temperaments. I’m patient, attentive, and reliable, and I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while their owners are away. Pet care is already a regular part of my daily and weekly routine. I care for my own pets every day, which includes feeding, cleaning, playtime, and making sure they are comfortable and safe. I plan my schedule around pet care, so I’m used to being consistent, on time, and attentive. Because of this, it’s easy for me to fit pet sitting, walking, and check-ins into my routine and give each pet the time and care they need. I care for pets by following their usual routines and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. In my home or a client’s home, I provide fresh food and water, regular walks or playtime, litter box or cleanup care, and lots of attention. I respect the owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medications if needed, and house rules. I always keep the environment clean and make sure pets are supervised and never left feeling stressed or ignored.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gaia was amazing with our two dogs! They are not always comfortable with new people, and Gaia went above and beyond to make sure they felt safe and comfortable with her. Before staying with them, she came over for multiple meet-and-greets just to spend time with them and let them get to know her at their own pace. That meant so much to us. She then stayed with them for a few days, and we were able to actually relax knowing they were in such good hands. She was incredibly patient, reliable, communicative, and genuinely caring. Most importantly, our dogs were happy and comfortable with her, which says everything. We would absolutely trust Gaia with them again and highly recommend her!

About: Because of my career in the field of applied behavior analysis, I have a deep understanding of pet behavior. I am great at learning new skills and approaches. I find that this helps me tailor my skillset for each furry friend entrusted to my care. I work remotely and my schedule is pretty flexible so I can care for my dog and yours. This flexibility allows me to consider pet care easily in my schedule. I have a fenced yard for sun bathing. I understand that having your doggy’s best friend gone is stressful enough so I understand the importance to abide by your personal routines and particular tasks that may sound silly to someone else.

I grew up with an Old English Sheepdog that I miss dearly, and caring for her showed me how amazing it is to have a strong bond with a pet. Over the years, I’ve been trusted by friends, family, and neighbors to care for their dogs. I’m reliable, attentive, and committed to making sure every dog feels safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. I have a flexible schedule and would love the opportunity to help care for your pup! I’m an online graduate student, so I have a fairly open schedule. I'm available most weekdays and weekends, allowing me to provide flexible care for your pets. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I treat every animal with the same care and attention I would give my own. I strive to create a calm, positive environment where pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Whether we're going for a walk, playing, or simply keeping a routine, I focus on making sure your pet is happy and well cared for while you're away. We are so grateful for Austin’s taking care of our Doberman Fred. From the very beginning Austin was super responsive, came over to meet our dog to make sure they are a right match. Afterwards Austin returned to observe Fred’s habits couple more times and to walk him with me. During our 1 week trip he remained in contact with us with frequent updates, helping us with our separation anxiety. The dog and the house were in one piece upon our return (even with some treats left for Fred and us, along with a sweet note ). We would recommend Austin to any dog owner wanting to have a peace of mind during their absence and looking forward to having him over dog sitting again in the future.

About: Hi, I’m Christian, and I’ve been pet sitting for over five years. I truly love caring for animals and am proud to have five repeat clients who trust me with their pets and homes. I care for dogs, cats, fish, and other household pets of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior pets, including those that require medication. I offer both drop-in visits (15 minutes) and overnight stays, including feeding, fresh water, dog walks, playtime, potty breaks, litter box cleaning, and plenty of love and attention. I’m also happy to help with basic household tasks while you’re away, such as bringing in mail, watering plants, taking out the trash, and keeping an eye on your home. Hayley dog sat our two little dogs last Saturday and she was lovely. If she has availability to sit your dog, definitely contact and book her! First of all, our one dog is a 15 year old diabetic with a host of other problems. He has to eat at a certain time, take oral medications, and get his insulin shot at a certain time. With a meet and greet, Hayley actually came over and learned how to give him his shot. To be honest, it's really hard to find someone to give an insulin shot who'll also sit, but Hayley got the gist right away! She's really nice and very responsive. I felt very comfortable leaving our dogs in Hayley's care. I got photos all night, updates on their feeding/meds, and when I came home late at night, everything was very tidy and cleaned up. So, the point being, if you can get Hayley to sit for you, do it. It was such a relief having her here with our little guys. We will definitely be asking her to sit for us in the future :) She's great!

We couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter for our 2 dogs and parrot during our 9-day trip! Demika was incredibly communicative the whole time, letting us know each morning when she arrived to feed everyone, sending photos of the pets throughout the day, and checking in again when she left for the night. That level of consistency gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Demika is responsible, punctual, and has such a warm, outgoing personality that our pets took to her immediately. You could tell they were genuinely happy and well cared for, not just fed and watered. We'll absolutely be booking her again and recommend Demika without hesitation to anyone needing a trustworthy, attentive pet sitter.

Johanna was a life saver for us with my sweet, 2 year old Golden who had a previously traumatizing experience having been boarded at a lovely facility but one not meant for her personality . She requires a lot of attention, love and comfort and is not great with being alone. Johanna provided all of that and more. There was not one day I didnt feel at ease knowing my pup was in the very best of hands and we were updated on the regular with photos and videos of their time together. Johanna is a gem of a human who loves these pets like her own and takes the utmost care and responsibility for their feelings, feedings, and everything in between while owners are out. Im so grateful for Johanna and her devotion to her work as is our pup. Core memories plugged for all. Thank you, Johanna. ♥️

Best. Petsitting experience. Ever! Freddy went well above and beyond with our babies and our home – truly the most considerate, thoughtful sitter we’ve ever had. He took out the trash, stripped the sheets, cleaned up the yard, washed all the dog food containers, pulled in packages, and even left a sweet note that absolutely made our day. None of it was expected, and all of it meant so much to us. He texted us with photos & updates throughout our trip, and we knew they were in the best hands - so much love & attention. Our dogs were so happy and relaxed when we got home, and the house was spotless. Freddy is hands-down the best sitter we’ve had in 4.5 years and we would hire him again in a heartbeat. FAQs for House Sitting - Newbury Park

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Newbury Park on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 8,052 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Newbury Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newbury Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newbury Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newbury Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newbury Park. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
