“Alex took great care of my pups and my home while I was out of the country. I left with great peace of mind but he still sent many updates and photos throughout. Will use again! Thanks!”

About: with a lifelong passion for animals and over four years of dedicated pet care experience, I have provided hands-on care for dogs of all ages. My background includes feeding, walking, bathing, and pet sitting for family members, ensuring each pet receives proper attention, exercise, and love. I’m currently working a part-time job, but I have plenty of free time to care for dogs and cats. I’m available on weekdays and weekends for pet sitting walks in general care. During overnight pet care in your home, I will ensure that your pet feels safe, comfortable and well cared for, maintaining their usual routine as closely as possible. I’ll provide feeding, playtime, and exercise, as well as attention to any specific needs your pet may have. I will also respect your home, keeping it clean and following any instructions you provide regarding security, house rules, and routines. You can trust that your pet and your home will be in caring and responsible hands.
“I cannot say enough great things about Alexis. She stepped in on extremely short notice when I was in a bind with a work trip, and it meant everything to me. One of my dogs had just gone through major surgery only days before, and it honestly killed me not being able to be there myself. Alexis handled everything with professionalism, compassion, and total reliability. She didn’t just watch the dogs, she cared for them. She kept me constantly updated with messages and photos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. Communication was clear, consistent, and reassuring the entire time. On top of that, she respected and looked after my home as well. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, dependable, and genuinely caring, Alexis is it. I would recommend her to absolutely anyone without hesitation. She will be my first call anytime I need help again. Truly grateful I had the chance to work with her!”

“Sabrina is the best! She always keeps me posted on how Riley is doing, send pictures and always cleans up after herself. I've used her twice now and plan to use her again. Super thoughtful person. Comfort's me to know my dog is being well cared for while I'm away. ♥️”

“Christina did a great job taking care of our adolescent puppy and senior dog for 8 days. You can tell that she really loves dogs. She’s reliable and a great communicator. Highly recommend.”

About: Growing up on a farm in Texas taught me a lot lessons about working with and caring for many different animals! Growing up, my family has always been surrounded by dogs, which I was responsible for when my parents would be gone. While I currently don’t have any pets of my own, I miss the feeling of being around animals and would love the opportunity to watch over yours! I’m currently active duty in the US Navy, but with my level of freedom I have nights and weekends completely free! I’d enjoy spending that time watching over your 4 legged family members! I live in a safe community that’s very pet-friendly, and I’m also capable of protecting your home/animals if necessary. I have a dependable roommate I can call on if any problems may arise.
About: I've been taking care of animals since I was a child. I had two senior dogs of my own that I have had since they were both puppies. Two older cats and one kitten have made it into our lives. I used to work at a doggy daycare center where I would watch, feed, and bathe any dog there. I currently work at a vet clinic and can administer any medications necessary for your pets health. I currently work full-time at a vet clinic in Ventura. I work from 7:40am to 5pm. I can do boarding and sitting any day of the week as long as you give me a few days notice. For walk-ins and drop-ins, I am also available in the morning before 7am and after 5pm. If you reside in Ventura I can provide a midday drop in or walk as well. I have a fenced in backyard with plenty of room for your fur babies to roam around. If your pet needs any kind of medication or any special care, I will be more than happy to be able to do that for you while you are away.
“Cassie was awesome! She handled my anxious/shy pup and his high energy/no boundaries brother without a problem. I usually take them with me ad much as I can, so it’s been about 3 years since they’ve had a dog sitter. I was a little nervous leaving them with a stranger, but Cassie seemed to really enjoy their company, kept in touch and followed all instructions. Came home to a clean house and two very happy pups! Will definitely book Cassie again!”

“Victoria is amazing, She’s a total genius with Frenchies. She treated our two like her own, got them on a great potty schedule, and kept everything consistent with drop-in walks and a solid routine. The best part: she brought her two Frenchies and met up with our two for an actual “Frenchie party” at the dog park. What more could you ask for? She’s our new go-to every time.”

“Olivia did an amazing job taking care of our four pups, which includes a senior French bulldog, two very sweet, but very large and powerful Dogo Argentinos, and a second, very mischievous escape artist French bulldog. She took time to understand each dog’s unique personality and tailors her care to each. She was also extremely communicative, and sent us pics multiple times a day. Highly recommend!”

About: I was born into a family with Saint Bernards, and over my lifetime have owned seven Saints plus an English Mastiff, a pittie mix, a cat, birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, and horses. I've been described by friends and family as a dog whisperer, and I can't help but make friends with any dog I see. I've been dogsitting for friends and family on the side for years now, doing overnight visits, extended stays, and drop-ins for potty, walks, and meals. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, but I've always had a soft spot for the giant breeds. I was a cross country runner and still live an active lifestyle, so long walks and runs are no problem. I can also do transportation to vet visits, doggy day care or walks at dog parks, etc. I'm looking forward to taking care of your furry family members! I am widely available for scheduling. I have a few steady clients with regular visits, but I can work with you and figure out the best schedule! As a lifelong animal owner, I understand the needs of many animals, as well as the feelings that owners have towards their furry friends. My initial clients were friends, but through the established trust and word of mouth recommendations, that list has grown. When doing overnight or extended stays, I will always bring in the mail, take out the trash, and perform any other household duties you may need. I've cared for sick dogs, handled emergency situations, and taken care of urine and other medical samples for my clients. Whatever you need, I can accommodate.

“Albie was great with watching our dog while we were on a trip. There was some time to get warmed-up, but he pushed through and was able to have good interactions with him after a couple days. He is great about sending pictures and updating us on how things are going. We appreciated that he followed instructions and took good care of our dog.”

About: I’ve had dogs since I can remember. Guard dogs, and house dogs as well varying from Dalmatians, Rottweilers, pitbull mixes all the way down to a Chihuahua and Pugs. I can handle dogs pretty well, and cats… psh I’m basically an expert having 2 and taking care of ferals/ cat colonies. I love all pets and consider my own, the children I never had :) I’m currently working M-F from 0730-1500. I am free on the weekends and usually anytime after 1430. I can leave work if need be as well to let your babies out. I keep my cats inside and trust I won’t let yours get out. I’m quite savvy in my ways, living with dogs all my life and dealing with a fence jumping Husky.
“Well we popped her cherry for her first time dog sitting g. She was outstanding. She came to our hotel and hung out with Stash all evening. Sent pictures and Stash was very content and happy later in the evening. Not a stressed out crazed puppy. She will definitely be a great addition to the rover team!”

“Dakota is fantastic!! This is her second time watching Nash, my 11-month-old golden retriever. She’s the first person I ask now when I need someone to stay with him. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and spending time with them. I know he’s in good hands when I leave him with her! She’s friendly, communicative and reliable! She’s my go-to sitter for Nash!”

I have a German shepard who is my absolute angel and reason I get out of bed every morning. However, she is not good with strangers :) At 125 pounds, people can be intimidated by her and its hard to find a sitter that will give her a chance. Kevin took the time, with kindness and patience, to build repor with her. Hes a gentle soul but very much in charge. Hes got a great wisdom base with dogs and is logical in his approach with them and scheduling logistics etc. Communication is always clear and timely. I appreciate his patience with me as well and will definitely book again, recommend to anyone!!!

Victoria was amazing! I told her that I would like regularly updates because it would gave me more peace and she gave the extra mile. She made sure I was aware of how my dogs were doing at all times, making me feel calm about leaving my dogs with someone else. Cannot describe how sweet she was with them! Highly highly recommend her! You will not regret it.

Neyda was great. We couldn’t be happier with the level of care she provided to our puppies and our home. My trip was so stress free with her updates, pictures, and videos. She is super respectful and caring. I hope my puppies will be able to hang with Neyda in the future!

Albie was great with watching our dog while we were on a trip. There was some time to get warmed-up, but he pushed through and was able to have good interactions with him after a couple days. He is great about sending pictures and updating us on how things are going. We appreciated that he followed instructions and took good care of our dog.

Cassie was amazing! It was our first time booking with her & she followed all instructions of care & sent daily updates with videos & pictures of our pups. She kept the house clean & respected our space. We plan to book with her for any following trips if available! 🤍

We had such a great experience with Danielle. She was reliable, thoughtful, and clearly cared a lot about our dog and our home. We got regular updates, which gave us real peace of mind while being away. Our dog was happy, relaxed, and well cared for when we returned, and the house was left clean and tidy. I already have her booked again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring person to care for your fur child.
We left our boy for 2 weeks with Merideth and we knew he is in a good hands! We received photos from every walk and overall updates. The house was left clean and the dog was happy and healthy 🥰 Definitely will work again and will reconnect to anyone who need professional pet sitter! Thank you!

Angel was great & our dogs loved him! He left our house clean when we got back, too. He communicated with us & sent us photos of the dogs. We were happy to find someone who loved hanging out with our dogs as much as us! We would love to have him as our pet sitter again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in El Rio on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,791 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across El Rio. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred El Rio walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in El Rio maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in El Rio choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in El Rio. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
