“Shannon is the ultimate professional. Shows up on time with a lovely energy. My two kitties welcomed her right away. She asks all the right questions pertaining to the pets care. I felt comfortable with her caring for my kitties while I was out of town. Thank you Shannon!”

“Daniella did a fantastic job with our puppy during her drop in visits! She kept us in the loop with cute pictures and updates. Followed all instructions and went above and beyond to work on training and brushing. Would highly recommend!”

“Ali was great! Our cat seemed to warm up to her pretty quick. Great communication on and off the app. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter. Thanks again, we plan on booking with her again this Summer.”

“I can't say enough about Destiny. She is so loving to our senior Tiara and understanding of our, (as Destiny puts it), "private" Callie. Cleaning up poop and throw up doesn't seem to bother Destiny in the least. My house always cleaner when I get home! Destiny is truly the best sitter out there!”

About: We are a pet-centered family. Fur babies have been at the heart of our home for over 20 years. We've rescued dogs and cats across various stages of life, some with special needs, and loved them well into their senior years. We’re conveniently located near 101, making for an easy drop off and pickup. We provide personalized care, tailored to the specific needs of your pet. Whether it's adhering to the dietary requirements of their meals, administering medication, or modifying walks and play to accommodate any physical limitations or developmental needs. Animals of all types tend to gravitate to me. I'm patient and playful. If they just need a calm presence to cuddle with or a buddy to play fetch and get their zoomies out, I adapt to the needs of your pet. Our home is filled to the brim with a love for pets and their care. My wife leads a community for pet parents and my daughter is a future vet who makes every animal she meets her best friend and desires to rescue as many she can. I'm a retired engineer and my wife works from home. Pets are family and our schedules are adjusted accordingly to ensure they are not alone. I love nature and giving pets the opportunity to relax and play where they feel the most comfortable. We can walk the park grounds right outside our door, relax on the deck, or snuggle on the couch. We can also hop in the Jeep and go exploring if they prefer. Every pet is different and my goal is to always meet them right where they are.
About: I was born into a family with Saint Bernards, and over my lifetime have owned seven Saints plus an English Mastiff, a pittie mix, a cat, birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, and horses. I've been described by friends and family as a dog whisperer, and I can't help but make friends with any dog I see. I've been dogsitting for friends and family on the side for years now, doing overnight visits, extended stays, and drop-ins for potty, walks, and meals. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, but I've always had a soft spot for the giant breeds. I was a cross country runner and still live an active lifestyle, so long walks and runs are no problem. I can also do transportation to vet visits, doggy day care or walks at dog parks, etc. I'm looking forward to taking care of your furry family members! I am widely available for scheduling. I have a few steady clients with regular visits, but I can work with you and figure out the best schedule! As a lifelong animal owner, I understand the needs of many animals, as well as the feelings that owners have towards their furry friends. My initial clients were friends, but through the established trust and word of mouth recommendations, that list has grown. When doing overnight or extended stays, I will always bring in the mail, take out the trash, and perform any other household duties you may need. I've cared for sick dogs, handled emergency situations, and taken care of urine and other medical samples for my clients. Whatever you need, I can accommodate.
About: Ive taken care of many dogs over the years and have always had a dog in the household growing up! The first dog that I’ve ever had was a dog named Maggie. Maggie was an elderly pit bull and she came from an unloving home prior to my family taking her on when I was about 5 years old. She was not as disciplined as you’d like an older dog to be, so she would have accidents all across the house and do naughty things like eat food off your plate when you weren’t looking! Understanding the life she was living before, we saw it as an honor that she was willing to get in trouble for a little fun lol. We had so much patience with her and gave her as much love as we could while she was still with us. I will always have a soft spot for pit bulls. Onto the more recent experience I’ve had, I am constantly working with dogs. I have a couple of clients that I house sit/walk for that deal with young puppies. Puppies have lots of energy and need to be treated as such. You need to have a lot of patience and understanding. When dealing with puppies you are pretty much dealing with a baby so it’s important to understand the fact they are not trained as well as a middle aged dog. Another field of dog experience I have is big energetic dogs. I walk a malamute named Luna three days a week and it definitely takes effort to control her. You can trust that I am competent enough to handle big, energetic and stubborn dogs! All the while providing your fur baby with love and care as if they were my own. I do DoorDash and Instacart (gig apps) so I have a really relaxed availability when it comes to scheduling of walks, potty breaks, feeding, etc. I can/will provide any type of service for your pet that is needed/wanted, just let me know and I can do it! Even if I’m not sure how to do it I am a fast learner that can get things done efficiently.
“Julie and Scott were so accommodating and awesome at communicating and proving updates. We would highly recommend, and we are excited to ask them to come back next time we need care for our girl!”

“Bethany and Siddhartha took great care of our cat Waylon while we were away. Waylon was in great shape and clearly well cared for when we got back. Thank you so much! Would hire again.”

“Valerie was a life saver for me over the weekend when I didn’t have someone to watch my cat. She was prompt and kind and accommodating. I didn’t have to worry about my boy while we were away, and she sent a bunch of photos of him. When I could not make it home on time, she happily agreed to help me out with another house visit. I would definitely call on Valerie again when I travel.”

About: Taking care of dogs has always been a big part of my life since I was young. I grew up with both dogs and cats, but mostly dogs. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to provide patience, love, and reliable care. I try to treat every dog as if they were my own because that’s how I’d want mine to be treated. My family and I find comfort in taking in pets that have had a rough start because they deserve to feel cared for as well. This has allowed me to be able to experience a variety of fur babies with different personalities. I’m currently working part-time and going to school online full-time, so I’m home most of the time anyways. I usually work early mornings and am off before 3. My job is very flexible when it comes to scheduling, so I can work around dog-sitting if needed. When caring for pets in client’s homes I’ll make sure I abide by their rules and make sure their pets aren’t getting into places they shouldn’t. I’ll provide plenty of playtime if needed and build that sense of trust with each and everyone of ur fur babies!

About: I’m good with dogs. I’m also very patient and interactive with them. No longer have my own but I’ll treat your doggie like my own. I’m am currently working nights during the week so I have time in the morning for some walks or some hikes. Weekends schedule always changes. Previously I’ve dog sat and at the same time house sat while clients were out of town. I’m very cautious and trustworthy as well very vigilant of my surroundings.

I'm also a wildlife biologist and small business owner of a human-bear conflict prevention start-up (see "Wild Neighbor"), as well as a previous zookeeper and animal trainer! I have 20 years of experience working with all sizes of California native wildlife and exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids in zoos, nature centers, and museums. I hold a B.S. in Wildlife Management from Humboldt State University and am a graduate of the Exotic Animal Training and Management (EATM) Program at Moorpark College. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your pet(s) - please let me know how I can make your experience more special! I am a small business owner and work from home - while sometimes I am needed in the field, I'm grateful that my schedule is super flexible and allows me to operate my startup while also spending time with pets! I always approach my pets with love and consideration not only for their mental health, but for their physical health, as well! Treats are a must, as is access to viewing windows (to keep an eye on the outside world when I'm away), cozy spots for sleeping, fans when the weather gets warm and soooo many blankets and beds when it's chilly. Water and food bowls are cleaned daily, and walks (for the dog, at least!) are kept to a consistent morning, afternoon, and evening schedule.
About: I grew up with dogs in my home and taking care of friends and neighbors pets growing up. I love to exercise and I think dog walking is a great way to do so and makes it more enjoyable. I'm currently working part time a few days a week so I have plenty of time to pet sit, dog walk, ect. My availability is flexible. I think it's important for all animals to be taken care of with love and kindness. I'll follow any rules you may have and direction or instructions.
About: I spent my entire life with cats and dogs and I honestly can't imagine a home without them. Over the years, i've cared for everything from newborn kittens that needed bottle feeding to senior cats and dogs who required extra patience, medications and specialized care. I have experience giving oral medications and caring for pets with ongoing medical needs. Senior pets have a special place in my heart, and I've rescued several older cats and dogs because I believe they deserve just as much love and comfort in their golden years. I always make sure doors, gates and windows are secure, and I will closely monitor your pet during walks, playtime, and feeding.
About: 🐾💕 Hi, fellow pet parents! Welcome! 🐶🐱 I’m a lifelong animal lover and proud emergency veterinary professional who believes every fur baby deserves to be treated like family! Their safety is the most important and I make sure their environment is safe and comfortable at all times.
“Anna was wonderful with our Scout! It was her first time with our pup and she took such good care of him. He’s a reactive dog and she did a great job taking him out for his walk and then playing with him in our room. We will be scheduling with Anna again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - El Rio
Ariana did a wonderful job taking care of our boys and went above and beyond by helping with the ants and cleaning up the grass after they used the bathroom. She was also very thoughtful about the weather and made sure they didn’t go out and walk on hot asphalt. We don’t need doggy care too often, but the next time we do, we’ll definitely check with Ariana to see if she’s available. Thank you so much, Ariana!

Melissa is a wonderful pet sitter and goes the extra mile to insure that our dog Oliver has absolutely everything he needs while we’re away. During the recent heat wave, she took the initiative to leave Oliver extra water! Melissa is very conscientious and cares for our dog and our home as if they were her own. We could not be happier!
We were delighted with Amy’s care of Richard. She sent great photographs and reports every day. She gave him lots of attention, played with him, brushed him as well of taking care of his food, water, litter and snacks. She is highly professional and very pleasant to deal with. We would wholeheartedly recommend her.

I was nervous to book a first time drop-in, but Allie was very reassuring. I couldn't be happier with the care my pups received! She was so attentive to the specifics I gave her — nothing was overlooked — which gave me total peace of mind while I was away. What stood out most was how attentive she was during the visit — she made sure my dogs got the attention and care they needed, not just a quick check-in. She sent adorable photos and a thoughtful update, so I knew exactly how things were going. It's clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. Highly recommend!

Destiny is a gem!!! She is so kind, calm, and assured and goes above and beyond in her care. My cat is pretty shy and he loved her right away and was very comfortable while I was away. My cat also had a mild health issue at the beginning of my time away and Destiny was ready to help manage the situation and I felt so much more comfortable knowing she was keeping a close eye on my kitty. Thank you Destiny!!!

Alison was absolutely wonderful with Bentley! From our initial meet-and-greet, I could immediately tell she was kind, patient, and genuinely loves animals. As a dog mom, that’s incredibly important to me, and she made me feel completely at ease. During her visit, she took Bentley on a nice walk, spent quality time with him, gave him lots of affection, and followed all of my care instructions perfectly. I could tell she treated him with the same love and attention he’s used to receiving, which meant so much to me. She also kept me updated throughout the visit, and I came home to a happy, relaxed pup. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Alison again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will truly care for their pet as if they were their own.

I highly recommend Annette! She accepted my booking request on very short notice, which was a huge help. She took great care of my three cats and was reliable, responsive, and thoughtful, sending me pictures and updates during each visit. It gave me peace of mind knowing my pets were in good hands while I was away. I truly appreciated her help and would gladly book with her again.

Dianne has been an incredible help with my dog! She is consistently punctual, highly responsive, and communicates timely throughout the process. Most importantly, she brings a fantastic positive energy that my four-legged friends absolutely love. She is incredibly easy to work with, and we are so pleased to have her support. I would highly recommend Dianne to anyone looking for a reliable and caring walker!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
