“We had such a great experience with Gretchen! We were visiting from out of town, and she really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. She was super thorough, very communicative, and just an all-around kind, friendly person. We always felt in the loop and confident everything was being taken care of. It’s such a relief to find someone you can fully trust with your pet, especially when you’re not local. We’ll definitely be using her again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, reptiles, amphibians, birds, etc., for quite some time now. I had always taken a great interest in animals in general and have been attempting to pursue an education and career in animal care as a Veterinarian. I have always had a soft spot for every single type of animal there is. Except wasps. And for good reasons. I am currently unemployed so I would rather take this time giving my attention and care to animals who may be in need of it. I have a secured front yard and fenced in back yard along with a very friendly and playful dog. We don’t have any children around either so that won’t be an issue.
“Sarah took excellent care of my dog. She gave us so much peace of mind on our trip and it was honestly like we never left. Our dog obviously had a wonderful few days of drop in care with Sarah and we will be contacting her again in the future for more care. Thank you, Sarah!”

About: I've been caring for animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my family always had pets, and I've spent my life caring for both dogs and cats. I currently have cats of my own, and although my beloved dogs have passed, my love for animals has never changed. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I'll provide the same patience, affection, and dependable care that I'd want for my own pets. Caring for animals has been part of my life since I was a child. I currently care for my cats and have years of experience with both dogs and cats. I understand that every pet has its own routine and personality, and I enjoy providing playtime, affection, and dependable care so owners can have peace of mind while they're away. I'm a full-time special education teacher, and my husband is also a lifelong animal lover who is home during the day. While I will always be your pet's primary caregiver and point of contact, having another caring adult in the home means your pet will enjoy extra companionship, attention, and a safe, loving environment. I provide a safe, clean, and loving home where pets are treated like family. I have a fully fenced front and backyard, giving dogs plenty of space to play and explore safely under supervision. I also have a nearby park, perfect for walks and extra exercise. I follow each pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, rest, and any special instructions you provide. My goal is to help every pet feel comfortable, secure, and loved while you're away, so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing they're in good hands.

“Tatyana kicked ass with helping me and my dogs. I asked her to show up in the middle of the super bowl to let my dogs out and she did it at a moment's notice and did it professionally. I would hire her again anyday. Thank you!”

About: I've cared for a wide variety of animals throughout my life; dogs, cats, birds, turtles, and fish, to name a few. About: When I was 8, my family got a Shih Tzu pup that I learned so much from over his 15 years of life. Because of the tight-knit bond I had with my Shih Tzu, I'm most familiar with the needs of small/toy breeds like grooming, exercise, and senior health issues. I recently volunteered at the county animal shelter, where I was responsible for providing dogs with enrichment and exercise. As part of the training, I became familiar with interpreting and understanding dog behaviors (regardless of sex/breed), like adjusting to their comfort levels, respecting their boundaries, and reading their body language to ensure everyone's safety (including theirs). My family members have always told me how patient and loving I am with animals in general. When I was a kid, I was bitten by a dog, and although it terrified me then, I never developed a fear or resentment towards dogs. If anything, it made me want to show them more love and compassion throughout my adulthood. Ultimately, I can assure you that your buddies will be cared for like they’re family! I'm currently on medical leave from both college and work, so I'm at home most of the day and will have plenty of time to spend with your beloved pets throughout their stay. When it comes to any services offered, I want to make sure that your pets and I are safe at all times. Aside from safety, their comfort is very important to me. I'll do my absolute best to make sure they feel safe and comfortable under my care. I always make sure to introduce myself slowly and will respect your friend’s need for space at any point, especially if they're shy. I usually turn the area under my desk into a mini fort for them with their blanket and other comfort items like beds or toys. This usually helps them have a safe and comfortable space to retreat to if they ever get startled or overstimulated.

Tai did an amazing job watching my kitties!! She happens to be sisters with my prior Rover sitter, so it was a seamless transition :) tai was punctual, paid excellent attention to my babies and was very respectful of my space. I highly recommend her and will likely book again!

Cynthia was great!!! We were nervous about leaving our rescue dog for the first time. She was very responsive to messages and at the meet and greet asked good questions and answered any questions we had. She went above and beyond each day for both our dog and cat! She is truly one of the best pet sitters ever!

Nykie was incredibly reliable, communicative, and thoughtful the entire visits. I received frequent updates, photos that showed just how comfortable, happy, and well-loved my puppy was. I highly recommend Nykie to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their pets. I will absolutely be booking again!

Annie took great care of Kimiko and was willing to follow Musashi’s extensive medical routine. Kimiko can be particular with new people, so I appreciated that Annie respected her space. I could tell from the photos and updates that Kimiko was in loving hands. Thank you so much!

Sarah took excellent care of my dog. She gave us so much peace of mind on our trip and it was honestly like we never left. Our dog obviously had a wonderful few days of drop in care with Sarah and we will be contacting her again in the future for more care. Thank you, Sarah!

Ross was an absolute Godsend!! He took such good care of my kitties, and they warmed up to him rather quickly, even my shy girl Rosie. He kept in touch promptly and made sure to leave detailed notes after each visit. He was extremely accommodating as well, as maintenance had to change my locks while I was away and I also had a package delivered early... I informed him of all of this and he graciously changed my keys on my key ring and made sure my package made it inside safely. He went above and beyond the call of duty and I felt my kitties were in great hands. I would 100% book with him again!

Cori was amazing! She looked after my cat, Maple, for two weeks and did such a great job. She visited regularly, played with Maple, and kept her happy and comfortable the whole time. She even took care of my houseplants without me asking. I totally recommend Cori and will definitely book her again in the future.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
