“I can't say enough about Destiny. She is so loving to our senior Tiara and understanding of our, (as Destiny puts it), "private" Callie. Cleaning up poop and throw up doesn't seem to bother Destiny in the least. My house always cleaner when I get home! Destiny is truly the best sitter out there!”

About: I was born into a family with Saint Bernards, and over my lifetime have owned seven Saints plus an English Mastiff, a pittie mix, a cat, birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, and horses. I've been described by friends and family as a dog whisperer, and I can't help but make friends with any dog I see. I've been dogsitting for friends and family on the side for years now, doing overnight visits, extended stays, and drop-ins for potty, walks, and meals. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, but I've always had a soft spot for the giant breeds. I was a cross country runner and still live an active lifestyle, so long walks and runs are no problem. I can also do transportation to vet visits, doggy day care or walks at dog parks, etc. I'm looking forward to taking care of your furry family members! I am widely available for scheduling. I have a few steady clients with regular visits, but I can work with you and figure out the best schedule! As a lifelong animal owner, I understand the needs of many animals, as well as the feelings that owners have towards their furry friends. My initial clients were friends, but through the established trust and word of mouth recommendations, that list has grown. When doing overnight or extended stays, I will always bring in the mail, take out the trash, and perform any other household duties you may need. I've cared for sick dogs, handled emergency situations, and taken care of urine and other medical samples for my clients. Whatever you need, I can accommodate.

About: Dogs have been a huge part of my life for over 12 years. I’ve raised my own Norfolk Terrier from a young age into his senior years, which has given me experience across every stage of a dog’s life. We’ve always loved going on walks together—when he was younger, I would take him to new neighborhoods and the beach for fun and stimulation. Now that he’s older, I’ve taken on a more attentive caregiving role. I manage his daily medications, keep up with frequent vet visits, and adjust his routine to match his needs, including shorter, slower walks around our neighborhood. Caring for him has taught me patience, awareness, and how to prioritize a dog’s comfort, safety, and happiness. I’ve also had experience with high-energy dogs. During college, I lived with a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd, where I regularly helped with walks and playtime—lots of tug-of-war, fetch, and keeping up with his energy. It gave me a great balance of experience with both calm senior dogs and active, playful ones. Whether your dog needs a relaxed walk, extra patience, or lots of play and energy, I’m confident in adapting to their personality and making sure they feel safe, loved, and excited every time we’re together. I currently work weekdays during the day at a behavioral clinic, but I am available for dog walking and pet care services after 4:00 PM on weekdays. I also have full availability on weekends and can accommodate dog walking, drop-ins, and pet sitting throughout the day. I’m happy to be flexible within those timeframes to best meet your pet’s needs and routine. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and in-home pet sitting services, which means I care for pets in the comfort and safety of their own environment. I do not provide boarding in my own home due to my own dog’s health needs. When caring for your pet, I prioritize safety, routine, and clear communication. I closely follow all owner instructions regarding feeding schedules, medications, and any specific care requirements. I understand how important consistency is for pets, and I make sure their routine is maintained as closely as possible. During walks, I always use a leash and carry waste bags at all times to ensure cleanliness and responsible care. I stay attentive to surroundings to keep your dog safe and comfortable throughout the walk. Above all, I treat every pet with patience, kindness, and affection—making sure they feel secure, cared for, and loved while you’re away. I’m committed to building trust with both pets and owners through reliable and respectful care.

“Alison was absolutely wonderful with Bentley! From our initial meet-and-greet, I could immediately tell she was kind, patient, and genuinely loves animals. As a dog mom, that’s incredibly important to me, and she made me feel completely at ease. During her visit, she took Bentley on a nice walk, spent quality time with him, gave him lots of affection, and followed all of my care instructions perfectly. I could tell she treated him with the same love and attention he’s used to receiving, which meant so much to me. She also kept me updated throughout the visit, and I came home to a happy, relaxed pup. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Alison again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will truly care for their pet as if they were their own.”

“There are not enough stars to rate Alex for his incredible service. Alex was extremely punctual, professional and above all caring and kind to both of our dogs. The thing that stood out to me the most was that he actually took the time to play with my dogs during the visits, many people just feed and leave but he made sure they were loved on and tired by the end of the visit. He was also extremely communicative and reassuring that our pups were in great hands. I can’t recommend Alex enough, he is a great guy and an awesome sitter. Our dogs love him already, we will be using him again!”

About: Hi there! I've been a proud and responsible dog + cat owner for over 25 years (plus snakes!), with over 15 years experience care-taking pet fish, birds, rats, hamsters, snakes, leopard geckos, frogs, turtles, and more! I'm also a wildlife biologist and small business owner of a human-bear conflict prevention start-up (see "Wild Neighbor"), as well as a previous zookeeper and animal trainer! I have 20 years of experience working with all sizes of California native wildlife and exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids in zoos, nature centers, and museums. I hold a B.S. in Wildlife Management from Humboldt State University and am a graduate of the Exotic Animal Training and Management (EATM) Program at Moorpark College. I'm an avid hiker, explorer, and naturalist, and I LOVE spending time with all kinds of animals both outdoors and indoors! I'm looking forward to meeting you and your pet(s) - please let me know how I can make your experience more special! I am a small business owner and work from home - while sometimes I am needed in the field, I'm grateful that my schedule is super flexible and allows me to operate my startup while also spending time with pets! I always approach my pets with love and consideration not only for their mental health, but for their physical health, as well! Treats are a must, as is access to viewing windows (to keep an eye on the outside world when I'm away), cozy spots for sleeping, fans when the weather gets warm and soooo many blankets and beds when it's chilly. Water and food bowls are cleaned daily, and walks (for the dog, at least!) are kept to a consistent morning, afternoon, and evening schedule.

About: I’m the sitter for you if you want someone who actually LOVES what they do. Since mine passed away, I’ve taken care of strays but I still love having those lovely personalities panting around. That’s why I do this, because I actually like it. I’m great at administering medicine, feeding on a schedule, training, cleaning up their mess, and love to be active with those furry pals. Whenever I have a day off that I don’t have plans on I head over to the Ventura Animal Shelter to donate some of my time and attention to lovely animals. I would love to be able to spend time with dogs since at my current stage in life can’t afford one. ❤️ When taking care of pets in the homes of others, a lot of trust goes into place. I’d be glad to take on that trust.

About: I spent my entire life with cats and dogs and I honestly can't imagine a home without them. Over the years, i've cared for everything from newborn kittens that needed bottle feeding to senior cats and dogs who required extra patience, medications and specialized care. I have experience giving oral medications and caring for pets with ongoing medical needs. Senior pets have a special place in my heart, and I've rescued several older cats and dogs because I believe they deserve just as much love and comfort in their golden years. I know every pet has their own personality. Some are playful and social, while others are shy,anxious or simply needs someone who understands that trust takes time. I will take the time to get to know each pet and make sure they feel safe, comfortable and loved while you're away. I will take care of them as if they were my own. I will keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax, knowing they're in good hands! I am currently retired, so I have lots of time to devote to you're animals besides my own. I can work my schedule around most days and times. When caring for your pets in your home, my top priorities are safety, trust and keeping their routine as normal as possible. I will carefully follow all feeding instructions, medications, schedules, walking routines, and any special care directions provided by you. I always make sure doors, gates and windows are secure, and I will closely monitor your pet during walks, playtime, and feeding.

About: Hi, I’m Sharon—a proud “crazy dog mom” with two lovable rescue pups I’ve had for about 10 years. Trust me, I know how nerve-wracking it is to find someone who loves and cares for your dog as much as you do. That’s why I treat every pup like they are family. No request is too over-the-top for me. My own dogs have a multi-step dinner routine worthy of a Michelin star, so I’m fully prepared for quirky feeding schedules, bedtime rituals, or extra belly-rub requirements. I’ve cared for bouncy puppies, wise seniors, and everything in between. Whether your dog wants an all-day play session or a couch-potato cuddle marathon, I’ll match their energy. Right now, I offer drop-ins and walks. I work fully remote and normally end my work days early in the afternoon. I am currently available for drop-ins and walks after 2pm. On the weekends, I'm pretty flexible, I would just appreciate a couple days heads up if possible :) I always like to set up a Meet & Greet beforehand when and if time permits so you (and your dog!) can feel 100% confident. Trustworthy, reliable, and hopelessly dog-obsessed—that’s me. I can’t wait to meet your furry family member and spoil them like my own! I work fully remote and normally end my work days early in the afternoon. I am currently available for drop-ins and walks after 2pm. On the weekends, I'm pretty flexible, I would just appreciate a couple days heads up if possible :) When caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat the space with the same respect I’d want for my own. I follow all house rules, honor boundaries, and keep everything tidy. My goal is to provide loving, reliable care for your pet while leaving your home exactly as I found it.

About: I've been taking care of animals since I was a child. I had two senior dogs of my own that I have had since they were both puppies. Two older cats and one kitten have made it into our lives. I used to work at a doggy daycare center where I would watch, feed, and bathe any dog there. I currently work at a vet clinic and can administer any medications necessary for your pets health. I currently work full-time at a vet clinic in Ventura. I work from 7:40am to 5pm. I can do boarding and sitting any day of the week as long as you give me a few days notice. For walk-ins and drop-ins, I am also available in the morning before 7am and after 5pm. If you reside in Ventura I can provide a midday drop in or walk as well. I have a fenced in backyard with plenty of room for your fur babies to roam around. If your pet needs any kind of medication or any special care, I will be more than happy to be able to do that for you while you are away.

About: Ive taken care of many dogs over the years and have always had a dog in the household growing up! The first dog that I’ve ever had was a dog named Maggie. Maggie was an elderly pit bull and she came from an unloving home prior to my family taking her on when I was about 5 years old. She was not as disciplined as you’d like an older dog to be, so she would have accidents all across the house and do naughty things like eat food off your plate when you weren’t looking! Understanding the life she was living before, we saw it as an honor that she was willing to get in trouble for a little fun lol. We had so much patience with her and gave her as much love as we could while she was still with us. I will always have a soft spot for pit bulls. Onto the more recent experience I’ve had, I am constantly working with dogs. I have a couple of clients that I house sit/walk for that deal with young puppies. Puppies have lots of energy and need to be treated as such. You need to have a lot of patience and understanding. When dealing with puppies you are pretty much dealing with a baby so it’s important to understand the fact they are not trained as well as a middle aged dog. Another field of dog experience I have is big energetic dogs. I walk a malamute named Luna three days a week and it definitely takes effort to control her. You can trust that I am competent enough to handle big, energetic and stubborn dogs! All the while providing your fur baby with love and care as if they were my own. I do DoorDash and Instacart (gig apps) so I have a really relaxed availability when it comes to scheduling of walks, potty breaks, feeding, etc. I can/will provide any type of service for your pet that is needed/wanted, just let me know and I can do it! Even if I’m not sure how to do it I am a fast learner that can get things done efficiently.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
