While on our 2 week holiday in Europe, Cassie was hired to care for our 2 cats and one dog. Although this was our second booking with her, we still met in person to go over expectations and answer any questions as this was a long time away from home and our pets. Our itinerary and list of instructions including 10 phone numbers of contacts in case she needed help in an emergency or assistance of any kind was provided. During the first week, we were forced to check our security cameras and door lock log as Cassie did not respond to my check in messages/textx for approximately 10-12 hours. During our investigation we found out that she only walked our dog once and she repeatedly left our dog alone for more than 4 hours ( 4 hours max was listed in our booking as she is highly sensitive and anxious when left too long) On two occasions she left our pup alone for 13+ hours and 21+ hours. She withheld the truth from us until we reported to her that we had proof of her abandoning our pets. Her response was that she became too drunk to return home to care for our pets and spent the night at a friend's house. Not once did she contact one of the 10 phone numbers she was provided or contact our hotels with information we provided. She left my dog indoors without a way to relieve herself or her normal feeding routine. My cats also went without their normal feeding routine. Due to this breech of contract and irresponsibility we spent hours of our trip trying to find alternate care as we still were out of the country for one more week. I considered flying home early as I was so distraught over the situation, however my mother in law was able to take over care for us until we returned. We kindly asked Cassie to pack up and leave as we no longer felt the animals were safe in her care. Rover did a wonderful job keeping in contact with me once I reported the neglect. They followed up with me and I explained to them that my number one concern was that she didn't reach out for help and she withheld vital information. I don't want this to happen to another family. Our trip definitely wasn't the same after finding this out, but we tried to make the best of it knowing that my mother in law was taking care of things. I know that people make mistakes, but that does not excuse the fact that my animals were neglected. Cassie had many people that she could have contacted to take over care in her absence but she chose not to.

Cassie was amazing! It was our first time booking with her & she followed all instructions of care & sent daily updates with videos & pictures of our pups. She kept the house clean & respected our space. We plan to book with her for any following trips if available! 🤍
