“Jasmine was fantastic! My dog had a great time and was relaxed and happy when I got back from my trip. My dog is reactive to dogs and bikes, and Jasmine dealt with that perfectly. Absolutely wonderful!”

“Matt is new to Rover but not new to our family. He has been serving us for over a year and his service is reliable, warm and consistent. Really, just hire him - you don’t need to scroll further. Matt always shows up when he says he’s going to, is a clear communicator and will text with questions. He has been creative with my dogs personality (a tad stubborn), was fantastic at jumping in when I left town on a family emergency and my dog loves him. Finally, Matt is an unusually good listener. He gets it. And is so willing to accommodate. I’m honestly bummed he’s now on Rover as he has been so available for us, but good people deserve a turn with other good people.”

“Lacey watched our dog while we were gone for an overnight trip. She was great! She has a nice calm presence that our energies dog responded very well to. We returned to a happy and well cared for dog and we will definitely be using Lacey again!”

About: Hi! I'm Sherrie. I'm the kind of pet sitter who sends photo updates, and may leave your home looking better than when you left. Originally from Hawaii and now based in Ojai, yet travel to you elsewhere is no problem! I've spent years caring for homes, animals, and all the little details that help owners relax while they're away. Dogs and Cats seem to like me. Whether your pet is a couch potato, an adventure buddy, a professional squirrel observer, I'll make sure they get plenty of love, attention, exercise, and companionship. When you're away, I'll provide: • Pet care and companionship • Walks, playtime, and belly rubs (when approved by management) • Medication administration if needed • Home security checks • Regular photo updates My goal is simple: for you to enjoy your trip without worry. I treat every home with respect and every pet like family. Looking forward to meeting your furry, feathered family member. I own my own company so normally have nice flexibility. I can do last minute work at times as well. Happy to discuss. Just ask! I will follow your lead on how to care for them on your property. I always like a solid list of information. Email is fine too

“Rachael was awesome and our doggies loved her! Got text and photo updates the first couple of days, which alleviated our anxiety about leaving our "kids" with someone else! She stayed at our home and it didn't look like anyone had been there -- very clean! We highly recommend Rachael!”
“Julio and Leanna were absolutely amazing to our fur-babies! They are a blessing to depend on caring for not only our pets, but for our dwelling! They work as a team and that couldn’t make us happier since we do the same. They communicate effectively and efficiently, daily updates and photos which caused us to be at ease! ❤️🙌❤️🙌”

“Kevin was prompt, communicative, and courteous. He was open to hearing all our instructions for our two ~60 lbs pups. One dog has mobility issues and Kevin was kind to his needs. They were well taken care of for their time with him and we would certainly rebook.”

“Erin was so great with Wallace! She was flexible before booking to arrange a meet and greet, and I could tell Wallace instantly was at ease around her. We booked her to stay our our home with our pup for 10 days, and she was more than a perfect houseguest, on top of a great dog sitter. She was very communicative, sending updates and photos throughout our time away, and left the house extra clean for when we came home. We even had a delayed flight returning home, where we potentially were going to need to be gone another night, and Erin was more than willing to stay an extra night if we needed, and went back to our house once more to check on Wallace because of our delays. We will absolutely be booking Erin again!”

“Melissa was the absolute BEST!!! We are “those people” who never leave home without their fur babies, and have a very short list of individuals that we would ever trust our babies with. Melissa not only met our expectations, she exceeded them. She was very patient with all of our precise instructions around caring for our 15 week old puppy, followed through with all of our preferences, sent us daily updates with photos and status, and was beyond lovely to work with. We came home to a clean/tidy home, fresh flowers and fruit from her garden and (most importantly) a healthy, HAPPY puppy. Melissa was reliable, responsive, personable, thoughtful, and SO SO loving towards our fur babies. If you are looking for ‘the one’ pet sitter whom you can leave your precious baby with and not have to worry about the care they are getting - look no further. Will rebook 100x over!!!”
About: I love all critters, large and small. I have two large dogs which I have both trained. They are incredibly well behaved, but I know how to give them space to be rambunctious and playful. It’s so important for pets to have a safe space to be themselves and show their beautiful, unique personalities. I know how to work with senior and leash-aggressive dogs. Kitties are wonderful with minds of their own. I give them attention when they want it, but distance if not. They are cats after all! I can take care of fish too, as I have a tank of them in addition to my dogs. My schedule is extremely flexible! I walk my dogs in the morning, but I can adjust my walk time as needed. For overnights, my husband will take care of our fur babies. I start off with an introduction to you and your pet. Treats are a great way to start off on the right paw! I ensure your pet feels safe and gets to know me. I am caring and loving, and I also know how to give space to your furry one when they need it.
“This was my first time using this service and I was a little nervous about it, but after meeting Liz, I knew it would work out. Liz did a great job caring for our animals. They seemed happy to have her company, she sent lots of pictures and she left the house in great shape. I will definitely book with Liz again!”
“Thanks Ariel for taking care of our cats and dogs. Our pets were healthy and happy when we got home. Overall Ariel did a good job in caring for them and making sure they stayed safe.”

About: Dog lover with loads of experience and would love to meet your furry family members and treat them like royalty while you're away! I have a lot of energy and love to provide. I've lived in a house of pets all my life, and am a huge animal lover, and have been pet sitting since I was a little kid. My schedule is really open and flexible because I work from home, so I have a ton of availability to come to your place or host your pet at mine. I live in a house with animal lovers with a fully enclosed outdoor space, in a great calm residential area close to Lincoln Park in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. Why I love dog sitting I have always been a dog lover since watching Benji over and over again as a child. I grew up with many pets and dogs and started watching them for friends and neighborhoods as a kid. My experience administering medication It depends on the format, most pets can be very finicky about this, but if it were a case that it was mixed in food, I wouldn't mind. I’m currently working part time, so maximum time away would be less than a few hours. I’m home most days and evenings, and love to take pups on outings! I have a fully enclosed yard and no pets of my own so your dog can have the run of the place! They are welcome on couches!
About: I have lived with many dogs and cats my whole life, in this way I have always been raised to care for animals. I have also trained a chocolate Labrador from puppy to adulthood! I know the basic methods of discipline for pets, while knowing the basic needs of care and love for them! I currently work in the film industry part time in the camera department. The rest of my work in video content creation is remote, this allows me to be flexible with my schedule and location. When at a clients home, I leave a large window of time to just spend time with the pets, whether that be petting, playing fetch, scratching bellies, or just hanging out with one another. Time with me and pets make me happy, and I believe the pets as well! Most of my hours in a day, in fact will be spent with the pet.

“We are forever grateful to Emily for taking care of our baby and home while we were gone! Our dog warmed up to and trusted her immediately and she sent us lots pictures, videos, and updates. She also took very good care of our home so it felt lovely when we returned home.”

“Dakota is fantastic!! This is her second time watching Nash, my 11-month-old golden retriever. She’s the first person I ask now when I need someone to stay with him. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and spending time with them. I know he’s in good hands when I leave him with her! She’s friendly, communicative and reliable! She’s my go-to sitter for Nash!”

About: I’ve been taking care of animals my entire life. I have a lot of experience with big dogs & I have a pitbull. I know very well how to handle dogs who pull or can be aggressive on walks. I fostered for 3 years with SBCAS & have cared for elderly dogs, dogs with severe injuries, and other serious medical issues. I’ve also taken care of plenty of other animals including cats, rodents, & reptiles. I am trained to handle & administer medical care for cats & dogs by the Ojai Humane Society I work evenings & weekends so I’m free all day to take care of your animals while you’re at the office or out of town. Happy to take your dog on a long walk or hike. I have a high energy dog so I’m used to doing a lot of playing & running if that’s something your dog requires.
“Brooke was great and took thoughtful care of our elderly English Bulldog, who instantly seemed to bond with Brooke and showed happiness in all the pictures we received consistently along the way. We hope to work with Brooke again!”

Matt is new to Rover but not new to our family. He has been serving us for over a year and his service is reliable, warm and consistent. Really, just hire him - you don’t need to scroll further. Rae is the best! We hired her to watch our dog and house while we were away, and she took great care of both. She sent us texts and photos throughout her stay, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing everything was going well. We came home to a happy pup and a spotless house. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and can't wait to book her again!

Outstanding! Naomi is the best pet sitter we have used in a long time. She took great care of our little Yorkie Poo, she sent plenty of photos, her rates are more than reasonable, and she was on time. She even went out of her way to be available on a two-day notice! She’s reliable, dependable, prompt, and cheerful. Our little Sofia loves her. So will you!

Lacey watched our dog at our house while we were gone for a long weekend and was excellent. Our dog had a great time and we felt great knowing that Lacey was taking great care of her, taking her on long walks and giving her lots of love. Lacey is great with dogs and has a calm presence that helps keep our dog mellow. This is our second time having Lacey dog sit and we’ll definitely do it again!

Devanna was so good with our wild Weim and also took such good care of our other animals as well! She left our home spotless as well and our pup seemed very happy (and tired) when we returned from our trip. Thank you Dev for such a great first overnight visit with Biggie! We’ll definitely see you again soon 🥰

As of July 2026, there are 1,487 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ojai. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ojai walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ojai maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ojai choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ojai. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
