“Lacey watched our dog at our house while we were gone for a long weekend and was excellent. Our dog had a great time and we felt great knowing that Lacey was taking great care of her, taking her on long walks and giving her lots of love. Lacey is great with dogs and has a calm presence that helps keep our dog mellow. This is our second time having Lacey dog sit and we’ll definitely do it again!”

“Rachael is amazing. This was my first extended time away from Loaf, so I was pretty anxious. She sent me photos daily and it was clear that Loaf was very happy and relaxed with her!! I will definitely be booking Rachael again— she is communicative, trustworthy, clearly good with animals, and a great house guest, too! Upon my return, my apartment was in better condition than when I left it!”
About: I was born into a family with Saint Bernards, and over my lifetime have owned seven Saints plus an English Mastiff, a pittie mix, a cat, birds, fish, rodents, reptiles, and horses. I've been described by friends and family as a dog whisperer, and I can't help but make friends with any dog I see. I've been dogsitting for friends and family on the side for years now, doing overnight visits, extended stays, and drop-ins for potty, walks, and meals. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, but I've always had a soft spot for the giant breeds. I was a cross country runner and still live an active lifestyle, so long walks and runs are no problem. I can also do transportation to vet visits, doggy day care or walks at dog parks, etc. I'm looking forward to taking care of your furry family members! I am widely available for scheduling. I have a few steady clients with regular visits, but I can work with you and figure out the best schedule! As a lifelong animal owner, I understand the needs of many animals, as well as the feelings that owners have towards their furry friends. My initial clients were friends, but through the established trust and word of mouth recommendations, that list has grown. When doing overnight or extended stays, I will always bring in the mail, take out the trash, and perform any other household duties you may need. I've cared for sick dogs, handled emergency situations, and taken care of urine and other medical samples for my clients. Whatever you need, I can accommodate.
“Another fantastic play date with Kevin and Jibo. Jibo has decided he owns his friend Kevin. They have a great time together and we feel a huge relief knowing Jibo is in good hands when we go for extended periods of time.”

About: Dogs and Cats have been a part of me life for decades. Very experienced with Tripod (3-legged) Dogs, Senior Dogs, Cats with Renewal Failure, and dogs with anxiety issues. Cared for tiny Chihuahuas and Pugs, muscular dogs like Pit Bulls and Cane Corsos, and big old (130lb) love bugs like Tibetan Mastiffs. I am comfortable administering medication in food, crushed up in food, in a "meatball," in a pill pocket, or even applying topical medication. Picky eaters love my food games and after a few days with me, they are excited to eat (always happy to share my tricks with pet owners who are interested) I work remotely and have been providing in home pet care for the past 2 years. Always happy to have a cat cuddle up with me at night or to take a dog on a little weekend car adventure to a nearby walking trail where we can check out squirrels. I treat each home with care: no parties, no drugs, no drinking, no smoking. I'm also mindful to clean up after myself. A clean familiar space allows pets to feel at ease when their owners are away which allows us to connect faster. I am happy to have a pet sit on my lap, sit next to me, or just let them have as much space as they desire.
“Ari was outstanding and took great care of our three spoiled pups as well as our tortoise and fish. She sent photos every day and the entire menagerie was healthy and happy on our return.”

“Julio and Leanna were absolutely amazing to our fur-babies! They are a blessing to depend on caring for not only our pets, but for our dwelling! They work as a team and that couldn’t make us happier since we do the same. They communicate effectively and efficiently, daily updates and photos which caused us to be at ease! ❤️🙌❤️🙌”

About: I've taken care of dogs my whole life, but developed a love for it at 12. I've cared for many dogs from friends and family throughout the years, including our family dog. I'm comfortable and familiar with feeding, walks, bathroom breaks, bathing, giving meds, and giving lots of love and attention! I'm responsible, patient, and attentive and my goal is to always keep them comfortable, happy, and healthy! Am currently unemployed, so open schedule! Available for all needs including drop ins, walks, pet sitting, etc. Will update when my schedule becomes more full! I take pet safety very seriously and will always make sure pets are secure and comfortable. I’m very attentive to their habits, moods, and needs. I’ll make sure they always have plenty of food & water, love, and attention. I follow each owner's instructions and schedule and keep a close eye on pets. If pet sitting, I always keep the environment clean and organized and always supervise. When on walks, I always take precautions and stay alert for any situation, and follow any instructions if given and will always keep you updated. Safety is always no. 1 priority! I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, so I always treat & love them like my own.
“I recently had the pleasure of hiring Flor as a dog sitter for my two anxious rescue dogs, Butters and Jake. I cannot express how grateful I am for the exceptional care and service she provided. From the moment we met Flor it was evident that she had a genuine love and passion for animals. She took the time to ask detailed questions about our dog’s routine, preferences, and any specific care instructions to ensure a seamless transition during our absence. Throughout the entire duration of our trip, Flor maintained open and prompt communication, providing regular updates and photos of our dogs. Not only was she able to bond with our anxious dogs, she showered them with love, attention, and personalized care. She cleaned up their many potty accidents (we have a nervous pooper and a blind dog that can’t always find the doggie door) and left our home possibly cleaner than it was before she arrived. We are so glad to have found Flor and will continue to hire her for our future travel!”

About: Hi! My name is Michelle, and caring for animals has been a big part of my life for many years. I’ve been providing professional pet sitting and dog walking services throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties since 2009 through my own pet sitting business. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels. I genuinely love spending time with animals and making sure they feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while their owners are away. Whether it’s a long walk, playtime, feeding routines, or simply keeping them company, I make it a priority to treat every pet as if they were my own. I’m very reliable, attentive, and respectful of both pets and homes. Many of my clients have trusted me with their animals and houses for years because they know I take my responsibility seriously. I’m comfortable with large and strong dogs, multiple pets, administering medications if needed, and maintaining regular routines that keep pets happy and stress-free. Outside of pet care, I enjoy being active outdoors, so walks on neighborhood paths or local beaches are something I truly enjoy. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine, and I currently have full availability to dedicate my time to caring for pets. This allows me to be flexible with scheduling and provide consistent attention for walks, visits, feeding routines, and playtime. I genuinely enjoy structuring my day around animals’ needs and making sure they feel comfortable and well cared for. I’m not currently able to host pets in my home, but I’m happy to provide care in your home where your pets feel most comfortable. I focus on maintaining their normal routine with feedings, walks, playtime, and plenty of attention and affection. My goal is always to make sure pets feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for while their owners are away.
“Boone was actually depressed and looking for Taressa after we came home. He must’ve really loved her being there with him. She is a very sweet and caring woman. I would definitely love for her to sit with our Boone anytime.”

“We had an absolutely incredible experience with Sage, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. This was our first time using Rover, and we were honestly a bit nervous going in. Our cat, Lily, is very old and can be a little grouchy and skittish around new people, which added to our concern. From the very beginning, Sage put all of those worries at ease. To our amazement, Lily warmed up to her very quickly, something we’ve rarely seen. Her professionalism and communication were outstanding. She kept us consistently updated (daily photos and FaceTime on request), which made being away so much easier, and it was clear in every message how much she genuinely cared. Sage has an intuitive understanding of cats that’s hard to put into words… she truly is a cat whisperer. On top of that, Sage took wonderful care of our home while housesitting for over a week. We didn’t know what to expect having someone stay in our house for that long, but she was incredibly respectful and left everything in perfect condition. It felt like our home was in thoughtful, capable hands the entire time. Sage didn’t just meet our expectations, she blew them away. We would trust her again without hesitation.”

“Natalie was fantastic! She took amazing care of my dog Ligeti, giving him all the attention and care he needed. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such great hands. Highly recommend her services!”

“Sasha was a godsend for our dog, Fenway. Our dog is very particular with his meds, allergy needs as well as being very dog reactive but Sasha treated Fenway perfectly while we were away. We got regular updates, beautiful pet pictures, and were up to date on how he was doing with their modified indoor play. Sasha is sweet, outgoing, and intuitive with dogs so we felt safe with her immediately. Our little family will definitely hire her again as she’s one of our best dog sitters to date.”
“Maria is better than great. She was wonderful with our cats and always kept me informed with pictures, also. I highly recommend Maria except we want to have her continue to be our catsittter so she can't get too busy!”
“Amber is incredible. I have had other house sitters in the past but none compare to her professionalism, and her level of care to both my animals and my home. Its never comfortable or easy to trust a "stranger" in your home, or with your pets, but she elimated ALL concerns in the first 24 hours. My German Shepherd, Bozz, is an amazing dog but he is only 2 years old and still learning socialization so he doesnt always warm up to strangers quickly. This was his first time being away from me since he was born, so I was very nervous. However, Amber was able to bond with him quickly into the week, and I came home completely stunned at how happy and calm my boy was. Im not sure what she did but somehow his sometimes quirky and nervous attitude was gone. He is a different dog. Hes always been great but lacked in social skills with new people. Its hard to describe what I am referencing but as a German shepherd owner of around 25 years I can say without a doubt that my boy was treated with nothing but the best love and attention. I could go on and on about how impressed I am. Do not hesitate to trust or hire Amber. I do not say this lightly....... she is great and her rate is too cheap. LOL. If you hire her, tip her because you are getting a bargain. Not only did she fulfill her role as a dog sitter, but she also managed to make my house look amazing. She worked her butt off cleaning while we were gone without any request from me. I will also be hiring her soon to come back and clean for us as well. I do not know how to thank her for her efforts enough. Just hire her, and you will see what I mean. Let's get this girl out of her day job so she can do this and cleaning full-time because she deserves it. Thank you Amber, we hope your stay here was just as good of an experience as it was for Bozz, and for us. 🤙”

About: I've had experience caring for and being around pets my whole life. From owning them myself to watching the neighbors dogs while they went on vacation. I believe i'm fully equipped to care for your fuzzy companion! I currently have a pretty open schedule and am flexible, easily able to provide an experience to meet your pet care needs with care and reliability. I will listen to your needs and am able to thoroughly follow instructions. My best interest is keeping you and your furry friends happy & cared for.
“Cassie was awesome! She handled my anxious/shy pup and his high energy/no boundaries brother without a problem. I usually take them with me ad much as I can, so it’s been about 3 years since they’ve had a dog sitter. I was a little nervous leaving them with a stranger, but Cassie seemed to really enjoy their company, kept in touch and followed all instructions. Came home to a clean house and two very happy pups! Will definitely book Cassie again!”

About: I’ve helped rescue two dogs so far within these past few years. Animals have really brightened up my life. I love caring for pets any size and age. My old co workers would call me the doggy whisperer because I liked talking to the dogs that would come in with their owners and the dogs seem to take a liking to me. I’m not sure why dogs gravitate to me. I think it has to do with how much I appreciate all the love they have to give. They truly are little fury blessings. I am grateful to come in to contact with pets. I enjoy making them smile from ear to ear. With great responsibility, there also comes great rewards with having pets. I’m here to help anybody in need of a dog/house sitter! My availability is currently open anytime Monday through Sunday, day or night! I also am available for holidays and all summer long if you need me. I am currently only open to house sitting inside your home or pet sitting in your home. Temporarily in a transition of moving so, my place currently isn’t available for dog boarding.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mira Monte
Matt is new to Rover but not new to our family. He has been serving us for over a year and his service is reliable, warm and consistent. Really, just hire him - you don’t need to scroll further. Matt always shows up when he says he’s going to, is a clear communicator and will text with questions. He has been creative with my dogs personality (a tad stubborn), was fantastic at jumping in when I left town on a family emergency and my dog loves him. Finally, Matt is an unusually good listener. He gets it. And is so willing to accommodate. I’m honestly bummed he’s now on Rover as he has been so available for us, but good people deserve a turn with other good people.

Rae is the best! We hired her to watch our dog and house while we were away, and she took great care of both. She sent us texts and photos throughout her stay, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing everything was going well. We came home to a happy pup and a spotless house. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and can't wait to book her again!

Lacey watched our dog at our house while we were gone for a long weekend and was excellent. Our dog had a great time and we felt great knowing that Lacey was taking great care of her, taking her on long walks and giving her lots of love. Lacey is great with dogs and has a calm presence that helps keep our dog mellow. This is our second time having Lacey dog sit and we’ll definitely do it again!

We’ve used Sidney several times now and she continues to be excellent! She takes our dog on hikes and long walks and even takes her swimming. Sidney communicates frequently giving us updates and is great and handling any issues that come up. Our dog loves hanging out with her and we know our dog is having a great time while we are gone. Definitely would recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mira Monte walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mira Monte maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mira Monte choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
