“Lacey watched our dog while we were gone for an overnight trip. She was great! She has a nice calm presence that our energies dog responded very well to. We returned to a happy and well cared for dog and we will definitely be using Lacey again!”

“Rachel was great! She was professional, compassionate, and clearly an expert in dealing with an excited puppy. We had not left our puppy before and she put us right at ease. They had a great time together! I do not hesitate to recommend Rachel, and we will definitely be contacting her when we have to be out of town again.”

“I recently had the pleasure of hiring Flor as a dog sitter for my two anxious rescue dogs, Butters and Jake. I cannot express how grateful I am for the exceptional care and service she provided. From the moment we met Flor it was evident that she had a genuine love and passion for animals. She took the time to ask detailed questions about our dog’s routine, preferences, and any specific care instructions to ensure a seamless transition during our absence. Throughout the entire duration of our trip, Flor maintained open and prompt communication, providing regular updates and photos of our dogs. Not only was she able to bond with our anxious dogs, she showered them with love, attention, and personalized care. She cleaned up their many potty accidents (we have a nervous pooper and a blind dog that can’t always find the doggie door) and left our home possibly cleaner than it was before she arrived. We are so glad to have found Flor and will continue to hire her for our future travel!”

“Jasmine was fantastic! My dog had a great time and was relaxed and happy when I got back from my trip. My dog is reactive to dogs and bikes, and Jasmine dealt with that perfectly. Absolutely wonderful!”

“Christina has been amazing! She stayed with our dog and cat while we were away for 10 nights, and we’ve used her for drop in visits as well. She clearly has a way with animals, and we rest easy knowing she’s with them while we’re gone. Not to mention, she left the house sparkling clean!”

“Kelsey was great! She sent lots of pictures everyday which allowed us see that our pups nomal routine had not been disrupted at all during our absence. We could tell they were not only safe but also being well taken care of!”

“Kimberly did a great job. She had to manage two large dogs over three days. The house and the pups were well cared for. I asked Kimberly to abide by some fairly strict rules with the dogs in order to manage their high-energy and potential anxiety and she did an excellent job. Kimberly have our pups multiple daily walks, administered pet medication, and maintained the security of the house. I strongly recommend Kimberly for your pet/house sitting needs.”

“Cassie was amazing! It was our first time booking with her & she followed all instructions of care & sent daily updates with videos & pictures of our pups. She kept the house clean & respected our space. We plan to book with her for any following trips if available! 🤍”

“Cheryl was AWESOME!! She played with our dog and two cats and sent frequent pictures. She took great care of the home and I was so glad to have somebody responsible staying there. HIGHLY recommended! We usually don't go away with our entire extended family (no pet care available) but if we ever do again, I will definitely call upon Cheryl!”
About: I’ve been taking care of animals my entire life. I have a lot of experience with big dogs & I have a pitbull. I know very well how to handle dogs who pull or can be aggressive on walks. I fostered for 3 years with SBCAS & have cared for elderly dogs, dogs with severe injuries, and other serious medical issues. I’ve also taken care of plenty of other animals including cats, rodents, & reptiles. I am trained to handle & administer medical care for cats & dogs by the Ojai Humane Society I work evenings & weekends so I’m free all day to take care of your animals while you’re at the office or out of town. Happy to take your dog on a long walk or hike. I have a high energy dog so I’m used to doing a lot of playing & running if that’s something your dog requires.
“Dakota is fantastic!! This is her second time watching Nash, my 11-month-old golden retriever. She’s the first person I ask now when I need someone to stay with him. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and spending time with them. I know he’s in good hands when I leave him with her! She’s friendly, communicative and reliable! She’s my go-to sitter for Nash!”

“I highly recommend Mike to come to your home and take care of your pets. I was gone for two weeks and he made sure my dog was safe, healthy and happy. I will definately be asking Mike again in the future.”

“We used Sara for the first time and she was great. We had a long list of instructions and reminders for our numerous babies and everything worked out perfectly. Would use her again, if we haven't scared her away with our tricky group!”

“Gabrielle was wonderful, Max was very well taken care of and happy when we returned! She sent me updates and pictures everyday, I would definitely recommend her to take care of your fur babies!!”

“Fiona did a great job sitting for our pup! This was our second time working with her and she was great. He was well taken care of and she Provided updates and is a quick responder.”

“Brooke was great and took thoughtful care of our elderly English Bulldog, who instantly seemed to bond with Brooke and showed happiness in all the pictures we received consistently along the way. We hope to work with Brooke again!”

About: A good chunk of my childhood was spent on a farm so being around/taking care of animals is about as natural to me as being with people. I grew up with all sorts of different animals from reptiles, to rodents, amphibians, birds, fish, and of course cats and dogs. There are probably few animals I haven’t had experience caring for. That being said I am most experienced in caring for dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and rabbits. Though I love all animals, dogs hold a special place in my heart. When I’m not dog sitting, I’m actively fostering for the local animal shelter which is always overflowing. Given my experience with power breeds I tend to take in the hardest cases as I am one of the few fosters in town qualified to handle these powerful animals. I don’t believe there is a such a thing as a bad dog, only those who have been failed by their humans. I am well versed in correcting certain behavioral patterns like dog reactivity however the majority of work needed to make it successful comes from the owners as consistency is key. Aside from reactive dogs, I have also have experience in caring for senior dogs who require round the clock supervision. As your dog ages it gets more and more difficult for them to control their urges so staying on top of bathroom breaks after meals is key to preventing accidents. I’m comfortable administering most medications. At this point you’re probably wondering why I don’t currently have my own dog and the reason is simply because my life is too much in flux at the moment. Next year in August I am moving to Germany for grad school and it is notoriously difficult to move a pet there due to all their restrictions and bans on certain breeds. I’m the sort of person who would rather loose a limb than abandon my pet so right now it’s just not in the cards for me. That is why I love this job so much, it feeds my soul to be around dogs and is rewarding beyond words to take care of them. I study applied physics at CSUCI twice a week from 10am-4pm during the semester which gives me the ability to provide your pet with round the clock care most of the week. Currently as it is summer I have full availability to take care of and play with your pet! *** Recently the safety of our dog at home was compromised by a dog that was brought into the home under a boarding request. Placing any pet in a new unfamiliar environment without a familiar anchor can be a stressful experience which produces unknown behaviors in animals that can sometimes result in the one we experienced recently. For this reason going forward I will only offer boarding services to established relationships. That being said I am happy to pet sit at your home with the intention of building a connection that will allow me to determine if they would be a good fit in my home in the future. I was raised by a Japanese mother who taught me the importance of being a good guest in someone else’s home. That can mean a lot of things to different people, but to me it means being quiet, clean and responsible. No loud sounds (TV, Voices, or Music) Before the hours of 8am and after the hours of 10pm. It means leaving the space as I found it or in better condition. It’s not bringing guests over to a space that isn’t mine, or helping myself to your things. Ultimately, it is about honoring your space and treating it with dignity, not as my own personal bedroom. Having said all that, if you think we could be a good fit please do not hesitate to reach out and feel free to read the description below for a sneak peek of what life with your pet is like in my home. *** I am extremely lucky to live in a very spacious home with two large backyards, roughly two acres in all. That is to say, there is plenty of space for your pup to run around, play and just do what dogs do best. We do have two other dogs in the home, one small dog who prefers his space and one extremely sweet English Spaniel whom is safe with smaller animals such as rabbits and cats. As I am in the riviera there is an abundance of wildlife here that I do have to be transparent about. There is also a pool on the property which your dog is welcome to but please consult with me beforehand about any concerns you may have, I’m happy to restrict access if necessary.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,157 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wheeler Springs. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wheeler Springs walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wheeler Springs maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wheeler Springs choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
