“Kay was a fantastic sitter. She was very kind and welcoming. We felt very confident in leaving our dog in her care. She sent adorable photos and her communication throughout the sit was great. We picked up a very happy dog who didn’t want to leave Kay. Would 100% use Kay again.”

“My two dogs loved Ashley! They have extreme separation anxiety being away from me, but they were so comfortable with Ashley and loved being with her! She took amazing care of them and sent updates throughout their stay! I will use her again! :)”

About: We’re a dog-loving household based who recently relocated to Ventura, we settled into a cozy ground-floor one-bedroom in a super walkable neighborhood near the college—perfect for easy strolls and outdoor time. Our pup Momo is now 4 years old, friendly, playful, and loves having new companions around. We have years of experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and we truly treat every pet like part of the family. I work remotely most of the week (in-office just 2 days), so your pet will have plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. My husband and I share pet care responsibilities, which means flexible availability and consistent care every day of the week. We enjoy getting outside—whether it’s neighborhood walks, beach time, or weekend hikes—and we’re happy to include your dog in those adventures if it fits their routine and energy level. At home, we offer a safe, calm environment with lots of love, playtime, and structure. For care in your home, we’re attentive to your pet’s established routine and preferences, and can provide reliable visits throughout the day and week. Pet care is a natural part of our daily routine. I work from home most of the week, so I’m around for regular walks, playtime, and supervision throughout the day. We build our daily schedule around making sure our guests get plenty of exercise, attention, and engagement. My husband and I share responsibilities, so your pet will have consistent care and companionship every day of the week. Safety and trust are our top priorities. In our home, we provide a calm, clean, and pet-friendly environment with plenty of supervision, playtime, and rest. We take time to understand each pet’s personality, energy level, and needs so they feel comfortable and cared for. Walks are always on-leash, and we’re mindful of safe routes in our neighborhood. We’re respectful of your space and make sure your pet feels secure and relaxed in their familiar environment. Communication is key for us, so we’re happy to provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind.
“Ellen was great. She took great care of our pup and was very easy going. She even had some advice for activities in town that were really great. We will definitely see her again next time we are in town.”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life. I learned responsibility by having dogs all my life. The attachment and care I have for animals is tremendous. My heart is full because of them and it breaks when they’re hurting or sad. I take a lot of pride in the way I care for my own animals. I always put their needs first. I even took a remote job so I can spend more time with them. When my dog got sick I was constantly monitoring, medication handling, and I never put her health to the side. I act quickly. I also am very careful with who the dogs I take care of come in contact with. I can read dogs body language and will not force them to be in a situation they don’t like. Some dogs are friendly and some like their space. It is important for me to create space. It doesn’t matter if a dog is small and won’t hurt a fly, they can agitate a dog that can hurt them. I have even saved a yorkie from being attacked by a dog. This wasn’t under my care but I knew what to do and stepped in. I currently work remote. This means I can take out the pups for play and for a walk. I live right down the street from a park. And prioritize taking the pups out 2-3 times a day. Making sure they’re out for more than an hour. I have a small back yard and 3 friendly dogs. One old Shih Tzu, a heeler, and a yorkie. They love to play but love to protect their home so they will always be loud when someone is at the door.. I always treat the pups the same. I know how worried I am leaving my heeler behind so I know to take good care of new pups because I know they’re missing their parents too! As for someone else’s home. I do the same! Obviously respect the home but work in a schedule to accommodate what I need to get done but also create play, walk, or enrichment play.
“Words cannot express how wonderful Richard and Mystique are and the loving care they provide for our high energy puppy. They treat him like family, and he gives them hugs and kisses during daycare drop off. They also take the time to give our puppy leash training on walks. Absolutely recommend Richard and Mystique.”

About: Friends and neighbors have relied on me to walk, feed, and bathe their pets while they are away from home. I find joy in caring for animals. Working hybrid Monday through Friday gives me flexibility to adjust my schedule when needed, and I’m always happy to spend my weekends caring for furry friends. With proper coordination, I can also host pets overnight giving them a comfortable, safe, and loving environment while you’re away. I pride myself on being professional, kind, and inviting so that both you and your dog feel completely at ease. I have a cozy pet spa in my apartment complex where I can pamper your pet with baths and playtime. I also love taking daily walks, hikes, and runs to keep pets active and happy. I believe every pet needs daily stimulation whether that’s exploring new scents on a walk, enjoying a good run, or simply relaxing in a calm space. While you’re at work or away, I’m here to provide your pet with comfort, companionship, and the reassurance of not being alone.
“Sara saved our trip! We were camping in the area and planned a day out at the Channel Islands NP (not dog-friendly). Our original doggy sitter canceled on us two days before and we scrambled to find someone last minute. It was a blessing in disguise. Sara is the absolute sweetest! Communication was excellent. She updated us throughout the day with photos and kept our girl busy with playtime, a walk, and a hike. She was able to administer medication too. I can’t say enough good things! Thank you, Sara!”

“Lori was great with Kevin and was flexible with the times as we had a day at the beach planned and didn’t know exactly when we’d be done. She even gave us fresh avocados and lemons from her backyard. Would hire her again. Thanks!”

“We were very happy with Hersh and his care for our small dog Sophie. Sophie was calm and relaxed when we picker her up unlike a previous stay at a kennel for small dogs. Hersh sent us a picture of Sophie relaxing on the couch and I could tell she was enjoying herself and was content. Good job. We would definitely use Hersh again if we are traveling in the area.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all kinds since for the past 4 years. I stay over night, go on walks, feed, bathe, and have dealt with disabled dogs before. I even have experience with cats whom have needed to be feed and the litter box needed cleaning. My neighbors, family, friends, and even people who I’ve been recommended to have put their trust in me with their pets. The longest time I’ve pet sat was for two weeks and it was with two dogs that needed to take medication 2 times a day. I have even let sat for my neighbor who’s elderly Labrador dog’s two back legs don’t function correctly. I am prepared for anything and everything :) I am a full time student at the University of Southern California Monday-Thursday, but I have times where I don’t have classes. Just message me and majority of the time I will be free! Friday-Sunday I don’t have school and I am usually free the entire day. At home I have a 6 year old male Golden Retriever who needs to be walked and fed multiple times throughout the day. I love to spend time with my dog whether it’s lounging around or going on hikes/to the beach with him. At clients house, I usually tend to check in with the dogs throughout my day, stay overnight at the house, or even board them at my house. I make sure that they’re fed, let out to go potty, and even give them the love/attention they need.
“I cannot thoroughly explain how grateful I am that Lexie agreed to watch my boy for me; we had met with another sitter months in advance who agreed to our pick up and drop off times at the meet and greet, but decided to cancel on me a few hours before! Beyond flustered and upset I was panicking, but Lexie came to the rescue but not only that, she provided Oliver a safe place to interact with other dogs. 🥹🧡 She provided updates with pictures to let me know my baby was safe and being watched. if you’re looking for a sitter who is reliable and will love your dog like their own, I highly recommend Lexie. I will be using her again in the future.”

“Cheryl was a sensitive, caring dog sitter for our very anxious Bichon named Layla, who has suffered from separation anxiety when we go away. This time with Cheryl taking care of her for 12 hours on thanksgiving, Layla was relaxed and happy while we were gone. Cheryl sent photos of Layla relaxing peacefully in her arms. After we took her home, Layla didn't act up at all. She quietly settled back into her normal routine and slept through the night without any fussing! Great job, Cheryl! Also we had to make a change in when we planned to leave and Cheryl didn't mind accommodating that last-minute change. We plan to use Cheryl again when we need a pet sitter. I recently recommended her to my friend who needed a dog sitter for her doggie.”

“We are happy to have found Shelli to care for our senior dog Harold. Shelli was very patient and kind with him when we left him for his first visit. He seemed very calm and happy when we picked him up. We feel confident that Harold will be well cared for by Shelli and her family when we leave him to go out of town .”

Summer is amazing! Our puppy Mila is going through her first heat, and since my husband and I both work, we didn’t want to leave her alone. Summer truly came to the rescue! Not only did she help us with boarding, but she also took Mila on multiple walks each day with her dog Mae—Mila’s new buddy. She kept us updated throughout the day, but more importantly, she was so kind and caring with Mila during this sensitive time. It completely eased our minds and hearts. Thank you so much, Summer! We’re so grateful for you.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Ventura commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
