About: I’ve been around dogs for most of my life. I grew up with Cody, a large chocolate Lab who was an amazing family dog. I was responsible for feeding him, walking him, and helping with his everyday care. Through taking care of him, I became very comfortable handling and caring for larger dogs. I’ve also helped care for my neighbors’ dogs and have experience with basic pet sitting, including feeding, walking, playtime, and making sure pets are safe and comfortable. I genuinely enjoy being around dogs and will treat every pet I care for like they’re part of the family. I’m a student at CSU Channel Islands and only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with breaks between classes that allow me to come home throughout the day. My schedule is very flexible, so I have plenty of time to give your pets the attention, walks, and care they need. I also live with two close friends who are very responsible, so someone is almost always home, making our place a great environment for pets who enjoy having people around. I care for every pet like they’re my own and always follow the owner’s routine and instructions. Whether I’m caring for them in my home or theirs, I make sure they’re fed on schedule, have fresh water, get plenty of walks, playtime, attention, and bathroom breaks. I’m also very respectful of each pet’s personality and comfort level and want them to feel safe, comfortable, and at home while their owner is away.
“Once again, I picked up my pup and he was worn out from playing all day, I recommend Alexandria to anyone who would like a sitter to treat their pet just like one of their own. She’s the most helpful when it comes to updating me on how my bud is doing throughout the day. Absolutely the best pet sitter around!”

“We were very happy with Hersh and his care for our small dog Sophie. Sophie was calm and relaxed when we picker her up unlike a previous stay at a kennel for small dogs. Hersh sent us a picture of Sophie relaxing on the couch and I could tell she was enjoying herself and was content. Good job. We would definitely use Hersh again if we are traveling in the area.”

About: I've been caring for animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my family always had pets, and I've spent my life caring for both dogs and cats. I currently have cats of my own, and although my beloved dogs have passed, my love for animals has never changed. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I'll provide the same patience, affection, and dependable care that I'd want for my own pets. Caring for animals has been part of my life since I was a child. I currently care for my cats and have years of experience with both dogs and cats. I understand that every pet has its own routine and personality, and I enjoy providing playtime, affection, and dependable care so owners can have peace of mind while they're away. I'm a full-time special education teacher, and my husband is also a lifelong animal lover who is home during the day. While I will always be your pet's primary caregiver and point of contact, having another caring adult in the home means your pet will enjoy extra companionship, attention, and a safe, loving environment. I provide a safe, clean, and loving home where pets are treated like family. I have a fully fenced front and backyard, giving dogs plenty of space to play and explore safely under supervision. I also have a nearby park, perfect for walks and extra exercise. I follow each pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, rest, and any special instructions you provide. Cande was amazing with my pup, she followed my care instructions to the tee and I love that she made sure my little guy felt safe in her home before even taking him out of his kennel. She was attentive, responded quick, and best of all she kept me updated at all hours of the day, she definitely made my trip a lot easier and enjoyable knowing my little baby was okay the whole time!!

Milly got along with had a nice long walk with her. Milly had three pictures with Susana, she is close to where we are vacationing and didn’t have a problem when we were a bit late picking her up from her aptly. We left Milly with Susana for about 9 hours for “doggy sitting”. Thanks, Susana.

I got so lucky to find Rachel. I needed an early morning Sunday to go on a snorkeling trip. And she was able to accommodate my hours. She was very kind and easy going. And I also got lucky she was only watching my dog because he gets nervous around other dogs. Grateful she was able to accommodate me and will definitely use her again. She also sent me pics and my dog looked like he was really enjoying himself.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
