I consider your pets my own when they’re under my care, or at least a family-friend while they’re here. I treat your pets like I do my own, but try to keep their routines similar to whatever routines they might follow at home so they don’t feel confused or scared.

Information Kirsten S. would like to know about your pet

-I don't have any breed preferences, dogs of any shape, size, and age are just fine with me so long as they don't have an aggressive behavior. Some dogs just don't like strangers or other dogs, and that's understandable because that’s just a part of nature sometimes, if you don't think your dog will do well with others (human or animal), please know that it might not be a good fit, as I have an ever revolving door of animals in my home. -In April of 2019 I welcomed my own puppy from a shelter into my home, she’s got a ton of energy, but has literally grown up with all kinds of animals thanks to Rover, and loves all of them, sadly she's incredibly people shy and gets anxious around strangers, but she warms up after a while. -We’re also currently renovating our house, and though everything is safe (and puppy-proofed), let me know if your little guy/girl has a destructive/eat-everything-in-sight side so I can keep an extra close on them for their safety. -Vaccinations are a must for both cats and dogs, (puppies and kittens on their vaccination journey is okay!) -We are putting in new flooring, potty/house trained only is a must, unless they're under 1 year old (and in the process of learning).

A typical day

Before the pandemic, trails and dog beaches were the best thing, for now, walks around the neighborhood might be an occurrence if your dog loves walking (I recommend "Gentle Leader" harnesses if you've got a puller). Some dogs (and cats) can be pretty low-key too though, so I’m more than happy to just live the couch potato life with them while they’re here. I also understand that being in a new environment can be pretty scary for some animals, so I try my best to make your canine/feline companion feel most at home as they can be while they’re here, and I encourage you to bring anything and everything of theirs from home, to create that homey feel. (I’d consider myself their temporary pet parent while you’re away.)

Pet care experience

About me: I just really enjoy spending time with dogs (any animal, really) and I think I probably get along better with furry creatures than I do with actual humans, I’m terribly awkward with human interactions. I've had a diabetic dog for 14 years and I know a thing or two about what it takes to habitually care for a dog, special needs or not. I've watched over and taken care of other family and friend's pets as well as my own, for essentially as long as I can remember. I'd love spending time with your dog(s) or cat(s) whether that's just playing with them, vegging out on the couch with them, or walking, etc. I'm a college student at Cal State LA so I may have (virtual class) or homework from time to time but I can definitely get that done either before or during my time with your buddy, depending on how much care/time they need. AND, I still live my incredibly supportive parents who love animals just as much, therefore they're a huge help when I have dogs over. But my focus is your pet's care at all times.

Kristen was wonderful carrying for my dog Vinny while I was traveling for 9 days. She would send me daily updates and cute photos. I knew Vinny was comfortable and made himself at home by the messages and photos. I would recommend Kristen highly.
