“McKinley was the best sitter we could’ve had! She was able to accommodate to a last minute request. She sent frequent updates and my pup felt so comfortable in her house with her other pets. 10/10 best sitter in the area!”

“Malvi, Andrej, and Max are like Ozzy’s second home. I feel so comfortable leaving Ozzy there when I travel for work, because I know how comfortable Ozzy is with them! They honestly treat him like their own and it makes me feel so much better being away. They are so communicative with their schedules and send lots of cute updates. I also completely trust their judgment with other dogs they sit, so I know Ozzy is always safe and has plenty of new friends to play with every time.”

“We had an excellent experience with Chad and his family when boarding our somewhat anxious dog. They provided a nice calm environment for him and were communicative and accommodating to his needs. We were able to have peace of mind while away knowing that our pup was safe and secure.”

“Amani treated my pup just like family. When I picked her up she did not want to leave! Lol she loved being happy and safe and playing outside with her friends. Aunty Amani was communicative, flexible, and sent us pics and videos of our pup while still allowing us to enjoy parent time haha! We’ve found our forever Rover for sure!”

“Anne Marie took such great care of Danny, she was patient and kind to him as a senior dog and just loved on him! I will definitely be asking Anne Marie to care for him again when I need it.”
“Thomasena was absolutely wonderful with Chino! She is incredibly attentive, and her love for our fur baby truly shines through. Chino was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Thomasena is definitely one of the most caring sitters we’ve had and we are thrilled to book with her again!”

“My previous Rover family left the area so I reached out to Aaron and Paweena, who quickly scheduled a meet & greet and asked good questions that left me confident that the would care for my girl. They invested extra time with her to overcome initial homesickness and even let her sleep on their bed.”

“Amazing! My dog and I are joined at the hip and I don’t love leaving her just anywhere! Rouday was so kind and my dog took good care of him right away. His flexibility and graciousness with me almost stood out more than his professionalism and care with my dog. Highly recommend!!!”

“As always my dog had a great time with Beth and Bastien! She is always excited when she gets there and is always happy when I pick her up! Highly recommend.”

“This was my pups first time with Kamille. Can’t say enough about Kamille’s very caring and attentive boarding experience for her. She gave my pup the time and space to get comfortable and provided me daily updates and videos. Will definitely use Kamille for all my boarding needs in the future.”

“Chloe and her husband were really great sitters..Bella had a wonderful time with them and we got pics and updates of Bella regularly. We are so thankful that Bella got to have fun while we were away.”

“Alex and Daniel were wonderful to work with! They kindly gave us updates on our dog while she was with them and it really seemed like she warmed up to them quickly. We are so greatful to have met them and we look forward to working with them in the future.”

“Jenna took great care of Cabby, sending lots of pictures and updates on how she was doing! We knew she was in good hands and well taken care of and would definitely have her stay with Jenna again.”

“Haydenn was super responsive and wonderful with our 10 year old dog, Fern. We had to make a change in our plans at the last minute, and he was very accommodating. We would definitely use him again in the future!”

“Marshall’s first visit to a home sitter went very well. Bria seems to really love dogs. Marshall’s appetite seemed to have picked up, and he’s more energetic. Seems as though being around other dogs has perked him up although I had reservations about her two dogs. One is very big, but seemed harmless. I feared he might scare and make Marshall nervous. Thankfully, that was not the case. On Sunday when I arrived at the set time, Marshall was bathed and ready to go. I definitely will use her service again.”

About: I love animals and I have always had a variety of pets (both typical and unique) as beloved members of my family or cherished beings I’ve gotten the opportunity to spend time with. Some of the animals I’ve lived with or cared for include: dogs, cats, fish (salt and fresh), birds, hedgehogs, hamsters, reptiles, rabbits, pigs, and many more! I currently live in Hyattsville with my partner and our 4 beautiful rescue dogs (Havanese-6 y/o, Pomeranian-17 y/o, Husky-12 y/o, and Pittie-8 y/o). Over the years, my diverse and pawfict pack has taught me more and more about pet care. Especially my senior Pomeranian–whom I’ve had the privilege to love since he was a rambunctious puppy–now into his baby grandpa-hood, and hopefully into his twilight years. I look forward to walking dogs and meeting/sitting various pets in our neighborhood. Thank you for considering me to care for your special family member! My schedule can be somewhat flexible - if I know in advance I can change the days/hours I work. I currently work as a substitute teacher and part-time for parks and rec. When I’m working, my partner is usually home. On my off from work days, I’m available to sit and/or drop-in on your pet. On weekends my availability is variable, but I try my best to keep my Rover calendar up to date. My partner and I live in Hyattsville with our 4 dogs (Havanese-Maltese, Pomeranian, Husky mix, and Terrier mix). We have a fully fenced-in backyard and 2 separate living spaces in our home, giving us room for extra pups. Our home has one-step entry in the back, making it great for elderly dogs or dogs with joint problems.
“My pup really loved her time with Kristy & fam. She came back absolutely exhausted. Kristy kept me up to date with plenty of photos and updates. Kristy maintains such a loving home for the pups and I could tell from our first meeting that Kanna was going to be in good hands and laps. Thank you, Kristy!”

“Jasmine and Stormi were great with Roxy. Roxy was transitioning between dog foods during her stay and Jasmine handled it like a pro. I would highly recommend Jasmine for your next trip.”

We used Jeramy as a last minute sitter when our original plans fell through, and we were so happy with the experience! Our dog can be a nervous with new people, but she loved Jeramy and had a great time during her stay. She also sent lots of pictures and videos to keep us in the loop. We will definitely be using her again :)

Dear Reeda - thank you so much for taking care of our Percy! He was so happy being at your home under your care, thank you again for being so kind and caring towards our Percy. I am sure we'll contact you again when we are out of town. NO more pet HOTELS! that is for SURE!!! I highly recommend Ms. Reeda, she is so responsible and best of all, she only takes one pet at the time, giving them all the attention they need.

Cody is a 2 year old Pitbull who has a high energy level. Rouday was a good fit because he was able to control Cody. Rouday was very professional and well prepared to receive Cody. Rouday was extremely good with our youngest pet so we are using him again to care for our oldest pet.
This is our second time with Rita and nothing but GREAT things to say. Not only does she prioritize my baby’s needs but also making us parents feel comfortable throughout the stay. My baby was sick a few days prior to his stay and she made sure to accommodate so he could get back healthy. The communication is always on point. We will continue to book with Rita!

We booked with Pamela while we were in town visiting for America 250. She took great care of Riley and it was comforting to know he would be safe and well taken care of during all the fireworks. He did well and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Pamela for anyone who needs a sitter in the DC area.

Emma is a great dog sitter. She took care of my dogs carefully and sincerely. I asked her services for my vacation and my whole trip schedule was constantly changed because of the weather in the destination. Emma was always responded timely and flexible. She send me pictures everyday and that made me relieved while I was away from my dogs. Thank you Emma!

I'm so grateful for a second wonderful time with Paula with Scout. He was in such great hands that his vacay was probably more amazing than mine. Loved on, squirrel shouts, and all the belly rubs and hugs a pup could want. Thank you, Paula, for the regular updates, photos that both helped me both smile and know he was in great hands!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
