“This lovely couple is my fur baby’s preferred boarder. He’s stayed with them now more than 3x and when I use this app, I always rebook with them. They are kind, share updates and have a clean and safe home. My little guy - typically shy - is excited when he stays with them. 5 out 5 stars”

“Paula was an amazing sitter. From comforting me when my pup was acting out of character, to providing excellent care and attention to my pup during his stay. She provided detailed updates complete with pictures and videos. Definitely stumbled on a gem of a sitter with Paula.”

About: I’ve had 7 dogs over the last 24 years, two lived to be 18 and 19 yrs old. I was known for many years as the Brookland Dog Lady. This is the only time in my adult life that I have only one dog. I currently have one 2-year-old Cockapoo named Peaches. Peaches loves most dogs and people and is generally confident and submissive. She’s very good with large, young, and old dogs alike. My house is fairly quiet. Over my 24 years of experience with my own dogs and watching friends dogs, I have dealt with just about every health problem and ailment. I am experienced with puppies, seniors, providing insulin, doggie diapers, prescriptions and just about anything else you can think of. I love walking dogs through my neighborhood. I have a fully fenced backyard as well. I work primarily from home so I can provide a lot of attention and supervision. They are like children to me. I work from home so I’m never gone for more than a few hours. My daily schedule starts with breakfast for me and my dog, Peaches. I then take her out immediately to the backyard for a potty break. I then get ready for my day and work from home. I walk my dog in the afternoon every day with additional yard breaks throughout the day. We often stop to play with other dog friends along the way. I can do a second walk each day if needed. I feed her again around 6pm. I let her out again in the yard before bed. They would sleep in my bedroom at night - either on the floor in a dog bed or in bed with Peaches and me. I do have a doggy door that she can use as needed, but I do go out with her whenever she goes outside. I have a 7 ft wooden fence around my yard. I also have a gate across my front porch so that if any dog were to get out of the front door, they would not be able to get off the porch. Dogs are always leashed when outside of my yard. I have watched and cared for many dogs for my friends, family and neighbors over the years. I have also been "dogmother" (designated in the will to care for a dog if anything had happened to their human) by several friends and family.

“Amani is a great sitter she sent pictures and a video of my Cassie mingling with other dogs and chilling on her couch. Cassie was boarded for six days while I vacationed. I returned to a calm relaxed dog. Thanks Amani”

“Jayla deserves more than 5 stars. She responded fast, was friendly and attentive to my Prince. I had to have emergency surgery and couldn’t care for Prince. Knowing he was being cared for helped me to be able to focus on healing. I will definitely use Jayla again”

“Sabrina was a lifesaver! We booked to board with someone else and they canceled at the last minute. Sabrina was able to help us out. My pups LOVED her (8 year old golden doodle, and 2 year old mini poodle). We’ve found our new favorite pet sitter and we’ll be booking with her from now on.”

“Haydenn took great care of JenniFUR! She’s currently in an anxious stage where new friends and places can seem overwhelming, but Haydenn made her feel right at home!”

“I fully trust Chad and Regina with my dog’s care. They’re responsible, attentive, and treat him like one of their own. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for peace of mind.”

“Joe was such a great host for Barnaby while I was on work travel. He took Barnes on walks/runs each day, had him socialize with other dogs, and always sent me an update with pictures. Joe was very communicative, quick to respond, and flexible with pick-up / drop off. Truly the best dog watcher I've used in the city, and that's including the big chains. I'll definitely be using him again”

“Awesome experience!!!! Will definitely be using again. Very warm and friendly environment with other dogs for company, while still providing a loving personal touch.”

“Cal & Kelly looked after our Labrador for 4 nights and we have no doubt he was very well cared for! We had a meet and greet beforehand and they were very welcoming and informative, and it was clear they have a lot of experience with dogs including working-line dogs which was important to us. They gave him plenty of exercise and outdoor time, and snuggles in an evening. They kept us up to date with photos and videos, and let us know how he was settling in. They have a brilliant set up at home for their dogs and the dogs they look after. Our boy was clearly happy at their place and we would love to use their services again. We would highly recommend Cal & Kelly”

“OMG! Mikey loves Alex! Alex is great— very responsive and careful. He kept me up to date and sent adorable pictures. He’s the pet sitter you want.”

“Jasmine and Stormi were great with Roxy. Roxy was transitioning between dog foods during her stay and Jasmine handled it like a pro. I would highly recommend Jasmine for your next trip.”

“Rita was an amazing sitter for our 9-year-old Australian Cattle mix, from meet & greet through to his return after 12 days. She handled his energy and anxiety like a pro, and her communication was clear and just the right amount.”

“Meet and greet allowed us to have the pets meet and plan. Our Dogs stay was great. She fit in easily and was happy to play with their family. Pictures daily were cute. We will book again when traveling.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Landover
Mark and his family are the best home away from home for my baby. Quick response time, and very flexible when it comes to drop off and pick up, even when travel plans changed at the last minute. I appreciate the beautiful photos that I receive as well, all showing that Spud is having the best time!

Evelyn was amazing with my babies, Monty & Sandy. We needed a sitter on short notice while we drove our oldest to college and Evelyn came through for us beautifully. She was in constant communication and sent us daily pictures of our pups. They immediately rams towards her at drop off which confirmed the good energy we felt when booking. Will definitely be booking her again.

Absolute lifesaver! Aniya saved the day by stepping in for a last-minute request and took absolute best care of Bruno. Very responsive, attentive and clearly loves animals. Came home to a happy dog. Couldn't ask for a better sitter—10/10 recommendation! Thank you!!!

This was the third time Scottie and Pierce have stayed with their Uncle Terrance, and this visit was for an entire week. As always, Terrance kept us updated with texts and pictures throughout their stay, and every update showed just how much fun they were having. Poor Terrance could barely get any work done on his laptop because Pierce insisted on sitting in his lap the whole time! 😂 When we returned from our trip, Scottie and Pierce were excited to see us, but the love, affection, and gratitude they showed Terrance when we picked them up was truly heartwarming. It was clear they felt safe, loved, and right at home. Thank you, Terrance, for caring for them as if they were your own. We appreciate you more than you know, and we look forward to the next stay!

Tommy H.responded quickly and thankfully accommodated a last minute booking. He had an organized approach with intros, drop off, and pickup. He communicated daily with updates. When flight was delayed, he worked with another family member for pickup. 5 out of 5 gold 🌟 star service. Highly recommend Tommy H.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
