“Marcus was extremely good with Ginger. He was attentive and Ginger felt at home. She was very comfortable during her stay and her sent us pictures of her activities while we were gone.”

“Amazing! My dog and I are joined at the hip and I don’t love leaving her just anywhere! Rouday was so kind and my dog took good care of him right away. His flexibility and graciousness with me almost stood out more than his professionalism and care with my dog. Highly recommend!!!”

“Sonia was fantastic with Murray and was extremely warm and understanding throughout his stay. She also sent the best dog-sitting pictures of anyone we've booked with and it shows how much she cares.”

“Tommy was a fantastic caretaker for our energetic dog! He kept us updated and clearly took amazing care of Percy. We will definitely trust him in the future! Thank you!”

“Ms. Sabrina was so great! I felt comfortable being out of town knowing that my Cookie was well taken care of. I truly appreciate the updates, videos and pictures. Absolutely will be returning in the near future.”

“They were awesome! I felt so comfortable leaving our little pup! He had lots of friends to play with and they sent lots of great daily updates! 10/10!!!”

“Catie was amazing. I genuinely felt my dog was well taken care of. This was my first time using Rover, and Catie made the process much more manageable. My dog is six months old, and Catie’s calm demeanor was precisely what I was seeking. I highly recommend her!”

“With a senior dog, we do get nervous about leaving mango new places. I would say within five minutes of the meet and greet it was clear that Shanilka and her husband would be taking great care of him. They asked all the right questions and during our stay sent regular updates to make sure we knew he was in good hands. Would definitely use again!”

“Our dog, Margo, had a great time! Cal & Kelly T. were excellent hosts and sent us lots of videos and pictures. We recommend them 100% and definitely will ask them to watch Margo in the future.”

“Lia’s communication is always on point! Charlie and I recently moved to DC and looking for a new sitter. Lia was honestly the best sitter for Charlie! She went above and beyond for Charlie even accommodated to his spoiled picky eating behavior 😂. Honestly I want to gate keep Lia but I think everyone deserves to have a sitter like her.”

“Fabian was amazing and so flexible with our needs. He went above and beyond and we never once worried about our pets while under his care! Highly recommend”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our Tony! Janel is kind, attentive, and truly loves dogs. Tony had never stayed in a different home before and has been pretty isolated. Janel was patient and loving to Tony and sent me cute pictures and notes. She was also very communicative and flexible when we had to change our pick up date. Tony adapted well to his new friends and I could tell he missed them after he left! Janel is the best!”

“Holly is fantastic! She welcomed our pup into her house on very short notice, and was totally accommodating. She went above and beyond - in addition to regular walks she took our dog on hikes and spent many hours with her outside. She also gave our dog special attention - cuddling with her and making her feel welcome and loved. In addition, her own dogs were instant buddies and play mates for our pup. She even sent texts and photos so we could see! It was wonderful to know our pup was in such amazing hands and having such a great summer vacation while we were out of town. Our dog came home totally happy and exhausted! I HIGHLY recommend Holly if you want to give your dog a true vacation full of fun and love!”
“Anne Marie took such great care of Danny, she was patient and kind to him as a senior dog and just loved on him! I will definitely be asking Anne Marie to care for him again when I need it.”
“I recently had a last-minute Fourth of July trip, and Tamara graciously accepted my booking request on very short notice. Not only did she care for my oldest dog, but she also welcomed my youngest, who can be a bit of a handful. With patience and kindness, Tamara gave both of my girls exceptional care. She allowed my youngest the freedom to adjust at her own pace and, amazingly, helped her become comfortable around cats for the very first time! I never would have imagined she could calmly interact with one, but Tamara made it happen. Throughout their stay, Tamara maintained excellent communication and sent me plenty of photos and updates, which gave me so much peace of mind. She also has a wonderful family who helped shower my girls with love and attention, making them feel right at home. Tamara is responsible, attentive, compassionate, and truly caring. She goes above and beyond, and she is worth her weight in gold. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their pets. My girls will absolutely be back when I’m in town! ❤️”

Tommy H.responded quickly and thankfully accommodated a last minute booking. He had an organized approach with intros, drop off, and pickup. He communicated daily with updates. When flight was delayed, he worked with another family member for pickup. 5 out of 5 gold 🌟 star service. Highly recommend Tommy H.

Farisha and family were wonderful to my puppers, who came back happy and tired. She was very communicative, shared pics and video, and worked with my around my weird schedule. I'm so grateful she was able to accommodate my older dogs and their eccentricities, and we will be rebooking for the next family vacation!

To say Terrance is great is an understatement. He was exceptional and took such wonderful care of our furry babies. Liam and Seppé, had a blast. Terrance certainly put us at ease while away for the longest we’ve been apart from our babies. They definitely have a new uncle for sure! We are so grateful for Terrence’s care of our babies.

Cody is a 2 year old Pitbull who has a high energy level. Rouday was a good fit because he was able to control Cody. Rouday was very professional and well prepared to receive Cody. Rouday was extremely good with our youngest pet so we are using him again to care for our oldest pet.
Johnathon was an excellent sitter for Butter while we were away for the 4th o f July weekend. Looking at the pictures sent of Butter he looked like he was right at home! Butter didn't seem like he wanted to leave when we came to pick him up! I would definitely recommend Jonathan and plan on using his services again in the near future!

Absolutely amazing dog sitter! They took exceptional care of Charlie, making sure he got all of his medications, took him on great walks, and spent plenty of time playing with him. I really appreciated how mindful they were of the heat, adjusting walks to keep him safe and comfortable. Best of all, they built such a wonderful bond with Charlie—it was clear he felt loved and cared for. I had complete peace of mind knowing he was in such great hands. I highly recommend them and will definitely book again!

This is our second time with Rita and nothing but GREAT things to say. Not only does she prioritize my baby’s needs but also making us parents feel comfortable throughout the stay. My baby was sick a few days prior to his stay and she made sure to accommodate so he could get back healthy. The communication is always on point. We will continue to book with Rita!

We booked with Pamela while we were in town visiting for America 250. She took great care of Riley and it was comforting to know he would be safe and well taken care of during all the fireworks. He did well and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Pamela for anyone who needs a sitter in the DC area.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
