“Our dog Mugsy had a great stay with Haydenn. He was well cared for the whole time. Haydenn is a great communicator and flexible with our requests. Highly recommend to all dog owners!”

“With a senior dog, we do get nervous about leaving mango new places. I would say within five minutes of the meet and greet it was clear that Shanilka and her husband would be taking great care of him. They asked all the right questions and during our stay sent regular updates to make sure we knew he was in good hands. Would definitely use again!”

“Outstanding communication and great care. Highly recommend! Jenna and her husband gave great care to both of our pups (one of which is in his senior years). They are both very pleasant people. Excellent communication and Jenna sent a lot of great pictures while we were away. You could tell the pups were very happy and well cared for during their stay. Thank you!”

“Joseph was very communicative and shared pictures of our pups with us daily. He followed all directions we gave him and made sure our pups feel at home under his care. I would recommend Joseph as a pet sitter and would entrust him with watching our pups again in the future. Thanks for taking care of our babies!”

“My frenchie Wolfgang and I are very grateful for Beth! She always takes great care of him, is flexible in case pick ups are impacted by travel and shares timely updates. Thank you, Beth!!”

“Bojana and family were the best pet sitters! We were able to travel with utmost confidence that our four year old mini bernedoodle was in great hands and being showered with attention and fun. I’m so grateful to have found such incredible pet sitters. Communication was top notch - regular updates put me at ease. Thank you!”

“2nd time booking with Rodrigo for Watson and again it was a seamless experience. Rodrigo sent regular updates and clearly took great care of Watson. Thanks again Rodrigo and Luna!”

“We were so glad Vader could visit with Charnetta and her family again. He remembered them and was right at home. She is definitely my go to when I can't take my furry guy with me. 🖤”

“June is an amazing sitter. She embraced taking care of our dog who has some special needs due to his age and medical issues. She is extremely professional and communicative and made us feel at ease leaving both our pets in her care. She is a gift to this community.”

“Chad and Regina were great caretakers for my small dog. This was my first time using them and I will definitely book with them again. I appreciated the regular updates and communication through my trip!”

“Whitney and Stella are legitimately the BEST. I’m so truly grateful for her service. Thank you Whitney for taking such amazing care of my Birdie May.”

“Great experience leaving Oliver with their family. The two of them were conscientious and considerate about understanding Oliver's needs and ensuring that I felt comfortable leaving him in their care while I was out of town. I wouldn't hesitate to leave Oliver with them again!”

“Cal and Kelly took great care of our large German Shepherd Loki for his (and our!) first Rover experience. Loki hadn't spent a lot of time with other dogs in close quarters prior to this stay, but Cal put us at ease in our initial meet-and-greet with him and both their dogs. We also really appreciated the regular communication throughout Loki's stay. Cal and Kelly were always super responsive and they sent us high-quality photos and videos of Loki every day playing with other dogs and looking like he was having a great time. Would definitely recommend to others and will be boarding Loki with Cal and Kelly again!”

“Anne Marie took such great care of Danny, she was patient and kind to him as a senior dog and just loved on him! I will definitely be asking Anne Marie to care for him again when I need it.”
“Amazing. Accommodating, kind, I can’t speak highly enough of Christin and James. Multitasking travel and being the mother of an active fur baby takes trust, scheduling, great communication and good care. Christin and James has it all. Sevyn comes home so worn out from her play time with them.”

“Bettina took great care of my Samson over the holiday weekend! Her pup got along great with him and they were taken on nice long walks together. I will be leaving Samson with her and her family in the future without doubt!”

“Janel was the perfect dog sitter for Athena, I am so grateful she was able to accept her on such a short notice during this holiday season. Would 100% recommend her to anyone!”

“Nadia was spectacular! She walked Ginsburg regularly and kept us updated on her activities, most regularly with photos. She wanted to send more updates, but I shared that it was unnecessary. Periodically would be fine. As a new owner of a 6-month-old puppy, and a first-time boarder, I know that puppy-energy can sometimes be a challenge. Nadia took it all in stride, providing a safe and suitable environment…and assuaging any trepidations we may have had as first-time Rover users. Thx, Nadia!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mount Rainier
My takeaway message: We had a fantastic experience working with Jules, and I would not hesitate to recommend her to others who need a warm, caring, and safe space for their pet to stay when out of town. Her communication is excellent: quick and informative responses to messages, as well as lots of sweet updates on our dog while we were away. Her love of animals really shines through; she clearly enjoys interacting and connecting with the pets under her care. And, in the videos she shared, it would equally clear that our dog was enjoying connecting with Jules. She asked good questions related to our dog and also was very tuned into how to best create harmony among the various animals in her home. She also managed a short-term challenge--loss of AC in high heat--with poise, honesty, and high standards of care for the animals. When we returned, our dog was happy and healthy. Jules is a great dog sitter!

Johnathon was an excellent sitter for Butter while we were away for the 4th o f July weekend. Looking at the pictures sent of Butter he looked like he was right at home! Butter didn't seem like he wanted to leave when we came to pick him up! I would definitely recommend Jonathan and plan on using his services again in the near future!

Sanjana was an amazing sitter for Lucy! I had a terrible flight delay returning from my trip, and she was so flexible, accommodating, and able to take care of my baby for a couple extra days. She saved me so much stress and headache, really appreciate and recommend her!

Marcy had a great time with Juan, Felipe, and Roma during our recent two week trip. We have never been away from her for more than a few days, but we felt really comfortable leaving her with Juan and Felipe. They are so thoughtful and caring, sending us plenty of updates and pictures of Marcy having fun. There was a heatwave in DC while we were gone and they let us know that they would take a longer than usual walk in the morning and shorter walks in the afternoon to keep the dogs from overheating. They also made sure Marcy was comfortable during the fireworks. They always put the health and safety of the dogs first, and I trust them 100% with my baby!

This is our second time with Rita and nothing but GREAT things to say. Not only does she prioritize my baby’s needs but also making us parents feel comfortable throughout the stay. My baby was sick a few days prior to his stay and she made sure to accommodate so he could get back healthy. The communication is always on point. We will continue to book with Rita!

Marcella takes such good care of Matilda! She sends lots of pictures so that I can see that my dog is happy and healthy with her. My separation anxiety is probably almost as bad as my dog’s, but I feel good leaving Matilda with her because I know she’ll have her own fun vacation :)

We booked with Pamela while we were in town visiting for America 250. She took great care of Riley and it was comforting to know he would be safe and well taken care of during all the fireworks. He did well and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Pamela for anyone who needs a sitter in the DC area.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
