Alicia was an amazing dog sitter to our Clover girl! She was professional, communicative, sentus tons of pictures of our pup, which is exactly what we want when on vacation. I felt like our pup was in good hands all weekend. Our house was left clean and taken care of, and she even went above and beyond to help water our plants when we were away. She left us with a “puppy report card” which was so cute. 1000% would book Alicia again for any future pet sitting, very kind and responsible, definitely a dog person!

We had Allison stay in our home for a week with our 4.5 month old puppy while we were out of town. She went above and beyond with his care. She always made sure he got enough exercise and took him on fun walks and adventures. She worked on some of his training with him too. He was better walking on his leash when we got home so we greatly appreciate the work Allison did with him. When she wasn’t able to stay at our house with him, she took him places with her, including her own home because he needed constant supervision and supervision and didn’t want him in his crate for too many hours at a time. She sent daily videos, pictures and texts with updates. She was very communicative and responsive. When we arrived home, we discovered a nice handwritten note with flowers, photo magnets of pictures she took of our puppy, and chewy toys for him too. We were very nervous initially to leave him with someone but Allison came over for a meet and greet and she let us come to her home to see how our puppy would do with her dog. She quickly put our minds at ease so we could enjoy our vacation and not worry about how our puppy was doing. Our puppy loves her and we were very happy with the care and attention she provided him. We will definitely be using her again.

Donita was amazing! She came earlier to get to know our dog, coordinated with our other pet sitter, was available for the holiday, and sent me fantastic photos. She definitely helped us out in a chaotic time when we transition between two different people. A real self starter! Our also dog looked so happy every time we saw the photos. Can’t wait to have Donita back again!

Lisa was a wonderful sitter for my pup. I was leaving my pup for 8 days, the longest I’d ever left him. He has some anxiety, so I was really anxious about it, but she put my mind at ease immediately. She spent lots of time with him, sent me lots of updates and overall it went really well. Charlie is looking forward to Auntie Lisa staying with him again!

About: As a pet parent myself, I know exactly what it feels like to walk out the front door and feel that instant wave of worry; leaving your furry family members requires an immense amount of trust, and my top priority is making sure you feel completely secure, updated, and at ease while you’re away. I bring extensive, hands-on experience caring for puppies, adult dogs, and cats of all personalities—whether that means managing a young puppy's strict potty-training schedule, giving a senior dog a gentle afternoon stroll, or respecting a cautious cat’s boundaries. I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own, and I am committed to following your exact routine while providing detailed updates and plenty of photo check-ins so you never have to guess how they are doing.🦮💜🐾 Pet care is my top priority, and I structure my daily and weekly life entirely around my work. Because I plan my personal schedule to fit the needs of my clients, I have an incredibly open, flexible schedule. Whether your pet needs a morning walk, a midday check-in, or evening care, I am fully available to ensure they get consistent attention and love exactly when they need it. When caring for pets, safety and comfort are my absolute top priorities. I live in a pet-friendly home with my own dogs, so I am deeply familiar with managing multiple animal dynamics and maintaining a secure, supervised environment—including the ability to keep my dogs completely separated from yours whenever needed. Whether hosting pets in my home or providing drop-in care and walks at yours, I strictly follow all specific care instructions, double-check that doors and gates are fully secure, and always keep dogs securely leashed during outings. My goal is to maintain your pet's exact routine so they feel completely safe, relaxed, and loved.

He's trustworthy, capable, leaves my home as good as I left it, sends pics and notes daily, and is a very kind and caring individual. I have no concerns when Topher is caring for my tender-hearted pup. It makes me happy my pup is loving Topher & in good hands.

Alex took great care of Myra and Clifford this past weekend! They kept us updated with regular check-ins, sent lots of photos, and followed all of our care instructions. I was especially nervous because Clifford can be reactive around other dogs, but Alex handled everything so well and gave us complete peace of mind. It was clear our pups were in great hands, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. Highly recommend!

About: ** for In Your Home Care- I can only service the Aloha area at this time ** Hello pet owners! My name is Vicky, I have 2 dog savvy kids, a great husband, and a super friendly Australian Cattle Dog named Beau(8.5) and Zero(3.5) our dog savvy cat. We live in a house with a large fenced (7ft fence) backyard in a wonderful neighborhood. I have over 8 years of dog care experience. I work full time at a local vet office as a veterinary technician assistant/customer service representative, and have fostered over two dozen puppies for local dog rescues. I'm available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday full days, but if other days are needed we can discuss that at the meet and greet. I really enjoy getting to know each dog I care for; what their likes/dislikes are, what makes them happy/sad/mad, how they like to eat their food, etc.., it really adds to the quality of care I like to provide. My meet and greets are pretty simple. You'll come to my home, our dogs will meet, we'll go over care and any questions we may have, and view areas where your pet will be spending most of their time. Our boarders typically spend their time playing in the backyard with me, my family, and Beau, we go out for walks at the discretion of the owner, during summer we set up a doggy pool and sprinklers so they can cool off, we like to do very amateur pet photo shoots(weather permitting), during the holidays we like to take our December guests to see Santa! if not outside they will be indoors watching a movie with us or playing hide and seek, We strive to to make them feel like they are at home. We do ask that your dog be - up to date on vaccines- CIV, Bordetella, Rabies, and Dhpp - proof may be required - Potty and kennel trained - on flea preventative - KID, CAT and DOG FRIENDLY We would love your pup to be our next guest! Feel free to message me with any question you may have. Hope to hear from you soon! I work full time Monday - Thursday and work 5 minutes away from my house and can go home at lunch for any needed care. My husband is home during the day. I have a fenced yard and can crate rotate if needed. We try not to crate unless your dog is already in a routine of using one

Bangyun is a very sweet gal, who took very good care of our senior dog and cat. She provided daily updates and photos. Our senior dog requires additional support since he is diabetic and has incontinence issues. Bangyun was willing to learn how to give him his daily insulin injections, as well as ensuring he wore a diaper while she was away. Our home was left in great shape as well. When coming home, our flight was delayed requiring an additional night of care. Bangyun graciously agreed to stay with our fury friends the additional night. We will definitely use Bangyun again in the future.

Layla looked after our three pups for a couple weeks and did amazing. Our trip was short notice, required international travel including a 9 hour time difference, and was during highly stressful times. She managed through smoke skies that forced indoor activities for days on end (aside from quick potty trips outside). Our dogs are used to their routines, which includes prepared meal toppers for their dinners, certain herb administration, even using fridge filtered water to fill their water bowls. Additionally, we have a large yard and home both of which are filled with plants. She rose to the challenge with watering some of our non-irrigated plants outside during the record heat waves, kept our hummingbird feeder washed and filled, and gave the dogs the normalcy that they can not get in any boarding arrangement. Her daily proof of life photos were humorously consistent (we laughed over the daily butt pics). She asked questions and kept true to rover interface. Lastly, our travel back home was interrupted with a cancellation on our domestic flight. We had a rough night of scrambling and managed to make it home a day later. I was extremely grateful she was willing to stay on the extra day. She collected our mail, brushed the pups, and even added enrichment games. When we came home, our pups were well adjusted, happy and clearly were in good hands the entire time we were away. This peace of mind is not easily gained on either party's side. I am grateful she paid so much attention to detail, came prepared to our initial meeting with questions (she even had pre-printed questionnaire forms and a clipboard). For anyone reading this, and on the fence about whether to reach out for a possible booking with her, I highly recommend that you do it. She takes her responsibility seriously, leaves the house in impressive condition (she washed her used linens, house was tidy, dishes were washed, dogs were content). We know we have additional travel on the horizon and plan to reach out to her. Many thanks for everything, Layla!

FAQs for House Sitting - Somerset West

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Somerset West on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 4,524 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Somerset West. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somerset West walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somerset West maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somerset West choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerset West. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
