“A last minute request after our original sitter fell through, Allison made time for a meet and greet and made extra effort during the drop in to ensure our kitty was safe and taken care of. Great communication during the visit. Will definitely use services again for future trips!”

“Megan goes above and beyond to care for our fur babies. When one was sick, she notified us immediately and stayed with him until we arrived, and even cleaned up. We so appreciate her care and concern.”

“As always, Joy does a wonderful job caring for our cats! She goes the extra mile to look after all the details and that gives us peace of mind when we’re away.”

“Olivander took excellent care of our two dogs when we were at work. The dogs were able to play outside, then chill inside and get some lovins. We will use Olivander again and would not hesitate to recommend him!”

“Morgan did a great job of taking care of our dog while we were on vacation. She was very communicative and went above and beyond to make sure our dog was safe and well cared for. We will definitely book with her again!”

“Celina was AMAZING! She was so sweet during our meet and greet and my cats loved her. I felt so safe leaving them in her hands. She sent the cutest photos during her drop ins and it just made my heart happy! I HIGHLY recommend her.”

“Sahra did an amazing job caring for my cats. She kept me informed as she came and went and followed my instructions to the T. She was super communicative leading up to and through the entirety of the job and was very accommodating to our needs! I’d definitely recommend Sahra for any cat parents out there and am looking forward to have her back.”

“It was great to work with Kate during the time she cared for our pet rabbit over the week we were away. She was very responsive and communicative, following all care instructions without issue. We know our bun was happy to have a visitor twice a day! Kate also helped out with a few household items while we were away which was very helpful and appreciative. We look forward to working with her again.”
“Alicia is the best! She is so patient and kind. We have a very reactive dog and she came back week after week to work with him and to earn his trust to hopefully build up to overnight stays. I cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“I'm glad I found Rylie to care for my pet cat, bean. She was patient with her and helped her warm up to her gradually. Thank you so much for caring for her and being really accommodating with my requests.”

“Gage did such a wonderful job helping with our little fur babies. He made sure that they were fed and made sure their litter box was cleaned. We let him know that we would throw out the litter and that he didn’t have to do that but he went above and beyond and took care of that on his own. Gage we will absolutely keep you as our #1 the next time we have to go out of town. Thank you so much.”

“Zoe took excellent care of our dog and rabbit while we were on vacation. Our reactive dog and shy rabbit warmed right up to her. She is reliable, flexible, responsive, attentive to detail, and very tuned in to the animals needs. We will definitely hire her again in the future.”

About: I have over 12 years of personal pet care experience from growing up with and caring for my own pets. As a full-time physical therapy student, I’m highly responsible, detail-oriented, and compassionate. I’ve cared for my own pets for years, including senior animals, and I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, grooming, and medication routines. My background gives me a special sensitivity to mobility and health needs, making me a calm, attentive sitter who treats pets like family. I’m currently a full time graduate student. As of right now, I am off for the summer and am available during most weekdays and weekends until the beginning of August 2026. I enjoy spending my free time staying active and caring for animals, so pet sitting is a natural and rewarding part of my weekend! I provide care in the client’s home to ensure pets stay comfortable in their familiar environment. I follow their usual routines for feeding, walks, playtime, and any special instructions like medications or crate time. I always aim to keep pets happy, safe, and stress free while their owners are away.
“Absolutely wonderful cat-sitting by Alejandra! She managed to befriend our two skittish tabby brothers, and we could not be happier with the job she did caring for them. Highly recommended!”

About: I have grown up with both cat and dogs my entire life and was raised on how to take care of them! I was always the person growing up that friends and family reached out to when they needed a dog or cat sitter. I've also worked as a dog walker through a previous service as well. I am currently in between jobs so I am available all week between 6am and 10pm. I am off on the weekends but can make exceptions in some cases. When dropping in or walking pets I make sure they are safe and sound. I check to make sure they have water or food, clean and are happy. I triple check to make sure when entering and leaving that doors are locked and the pets are safe inside. On walks I am familiar with all harness types and make sure they are secure in my hold. I am also aware of my surroundings to make sure no dangers are around and that the pet is behaving normally.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Somerset West
Joy is organized, reliable, & thoughtful. She’s great at communicating with us, & she’s made the effort to bond with our extremely shy cats. We’re thankful for her reliability, skills, & kindness. It’s a relief to know our kitties are in her hands when we travel.

Hannah was great!! She gave detailed notes for every visit and lots of great pictures. One of my cats is special needs and requires medications multiple times a day, and Hannah handled it very well and also kept me updated on how the medication administration went. Definitely will book with her again!!

Sahra is just wonderful! This was the first time we used Rover and were anxious pet parents. She was amazing at communicating and our girls loved her. She even got our very shy cat to play and allow her to pet her! She followed our instructions to a T and was receptive to changes we made during the booking. We will definitely book again with her!

Alejandra did an excellent job of caring for my pets while I was out of town! After sending the booking request, she immediately reached out to me and was able to stop by for a new client visit on the same day! She was a breeze to work with and gave me updates and pictures each day. My cats were well cared for and I came back to a happy household. I will definitely be re-booking with Alejandra for the foreseeable future.
Liv was amazing!! Even with our spicy kitty, she was able to take such a huge relief off our shoulders since we knew they were in good hands. She communicated effectively, followed directions, and eased our minds with the report cards. I would absolutely have her come back!!

Tori is the real deal. We have complicated care routines for our pets and she followed every single instruction without missing a beat. Tori did it flawlessly. You could tell she genuinely cared, not just going through the motions. We came home to happy, relaxed animals. She's the only sitter we'll request from now on.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerset West. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
