“Alexis did an excellent job house sitting for our Golden Retriever! Sent lots of pictures of our pup during our trip, excellent communicator and really cares for animals. Would highly recommend!”

“Christina was great! We have a hard time leaving our pups and this trip just needed to focus on traveling with our infant. Christina was prompt and accommodating to meet us in advance and then took great care of our home and animals while we were away. They were well looked after and she left our home tidy.”

“Ryleigh was great! Provided the amount of updates/photos we had discussed and let us know when she had for run out for a bit and when she would return. I can tell from photos our Golden loved her and she left the house as clean as we left it. Will be asking Ryleigh to watch our guy again 🐶”

“Tori watched our pups while I had a minor medical procedure. The pups were well taken care of and so was our home. I would definitely recommend Tori to watch your little ones.”

“Ayalene was great! I have a high energy Australian shepherd that has some separation anxiety and can be reactive on leash. She handled everything with ease and followed all my instructions! My dog and cats were super happy, the house was clean when returning, and it felt great knowing my pets and house were safe! Thank you Ayalene for all your help! I would absolutely recommend her and book her again”

About: Hi, I’m Marci, and I’m your dog’s second best friend! I'm a licensed massage therapist for people, horses and dogs. I'm very intuitive, nurturing and compassionate, and I have been a dog owner for the past 20 years. I work from home part time so I'm home every day, which means I can hang out with your dog all day! I love just about everything about dogs, from the way they curiously sniff the air during walks, to when they eagerly nudge my hand for a pet or massage. I treat all animals like family, and make sure they have what they need and want. If you leave your dog with me, you can rest assured they will be pampered with plenty of love, affection, and patience. I also know canine CPR and have basic medical skills. My goal is to provide a safe, trusted and loving environment for your pet so you wont have to worry while you're away. For additional peace of mind all dogs in our care will wear a GPS collar that can be tracked at all times. I truly feel that dogs are like people -- they are each unique and special in their own way! I would love to know what makes your dog different and unique, down to those hidden quirks and personality traits. Dogs bring out the best in me: my compassion, empathy, love, and encouragement all improve when I spend time with furry friends of all shapes, sizes, and breeds. I promise to shower your dog with all these things, and more! If your dog loves the outdoors, exploration, and long walks, then I’m the right sitter for your! I love to hike and horseback ride on my horse. I love to take my dogs to new places and introduce them to new experiences. One of my favorite seasons is summer, just because I can spend more time outside. However, the cold fall and winter weather means I get to snuggle up with your dog indoors -- either way, it’s a win! In addition to dogs, I have experience with horses, cats, gerbils, rats, hamsters, and birds. I am here to make whatever pet you have feel comfortable, but you’re my client, too! Let me know what you need to feel comfortable leaving your pet with me, including how many updates you would like. I’d love to meet you and your pet, so please contact me to set up a Meet and Greet. I’m sure we’ll be fast friends in no time.
About: My pup recently passed away but I had him for 11 years. He was a high maintenance fellow so I’m up for your high maintenance dogs too. I’m big on animals not being bored. Puzzles, games, walks, etc. Even senior pups can benefit from some snuffle mat work. Most of all I just want them to feel safe and looked after while you’re away. I work a full time job M-F from home most of the time. There are days we’re required to be in the office but that doesn’t happen very often. I can make time during the day for walks when I work from home. I can also stop for cuddles and to play in the yard when we both need a break. If caring for your pet in my home, they’d be welcome on top of all my furniture. Every corner has a pet bed available and ready to use. I also have quite a few pet caves your pet might love. I do have stairs leading up to my couch and my bed. I have a ramp available if needed too to get down the 1 step into my yard. If proving care in your home, I would be a pet care professional and only interact with pet care items. I would lock up after myself and follow any directions I’d been given.
“We could not have had a better sitter than Kelsea! It was very clear right at the get-go at our meet-and-greet that she was exceedingly competent at dog care thanks to her extensive history in dog rescue. She understood and followed all our instructions/requests with ease, such as with their diet since they needed to avoid gaining weight. She then went the extra mile by being extremely attentive to their eating habits, asking permission to alter meals so that they were eating better, which we really appreciated! Her attention to detail was impeccable. She also introduced new toys/treats for mental stimulation without causing them to gain weight (: Finally, she showed through plenty of pictures and updates how much love and attention the animals were getting! They looked so calm and happy when I returned home. If you want peace of mind that your animals are in the hands of someone who will love on them, Kelsea is your girl! Than you, Kelsea!”

“It's hard to leave our senior pet, but we felt very confident with Ollie. Charlie took to him immediately. Ollie knew several tricks to help us with Charlie's exercises, physical challenges, and medication schedule. He was compassionate and communicative. We would not hesitate to hire him again.”

“Monica was fantastic house sitting for our dog and cat. She showed up for our intro visit having already read our instructions and it was obvious from the beginning that she would interact great with our pets, especially our sometimes scared dog. Throughout the visit she gave us great updates, pictures and videos that reinforced how comfortable our pets were with her. We highly recommend Monica and will absolutely use her again in the future.”

About: Hello there. Thanks for looking at my profile. I’ve taken care of animals for 54 years as I grew up on a farm with dogs, cats, and various other animals. I trained and showed my dogs in 4-H for 7+ years when in school. I am currently taking a break from full-time employment so I have time to give someone’s fur baby love and attention! I have 21 years experience working in the Medical industry so I am extremely communicative, responsive, attentive, and prompt. I currently have 2 rescue dogs and 1 crazy orange male tabby cat. I am a volunteer and foster home for Street Dog Hero and have been able to successfully rehome 2 dogs. I look forward to meeting your fur baby and giving them the attention and exercise you are looking for. I am currently taking a break from full time employment so I have plenty of time for the care you are desiring at any hour of the day or night. I have a fenced yard with 6 expandable mobile fences that I use divide my yard and interior of my home to ease a new pet into my home. In a clients home, I visit them accordingly to the schedule provided.
“Bangyun is a very sweet gal, who took very good care of our senior dog and cat. She provided daily updates and photos. Our senior dog requires additional support since he is diabetic and has incontinence issues. Bangyun was willing to learn how to give him his daily insulin injections, as well as ensuring he wore a diaper while she was away. Our home was left in great shape as well. When coming home, our flight was delayed requiring an additional night of care. Bangyun graciously agreed to stay with our fury friends the additional night. We will definitely use Bangyun again in the future.”

“An absolute golden star! Topher stayed at our home for almost a week and went above and beyond to make sure our high energy pup got as much play time as she wanted. He sent multiple photos/videos a day and was quick to respond. He kept our home clean and even swept the leaves off our porch! Would recommend Topher without reservation.”

“Quick and thorough communication before and during her care of my dogs. One of my dogs is a senior dog with special medication requirements and she was wonderful about making sure he got what he needed.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Helvetia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Helvetia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Helvetia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Helvetia. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
