About: I have taken care of dogs since a child, personal owned ones of all types and sizes. I have dogs throughout my childhood into teens and even had the ability of owning my own personal dog who I trained and loved! In the last four years, I have had the opportunity to re-occuringly care for the beloved fur babies of a friend. I do work full time but have time to balance pet care. I normally dog sit for a friend and stay at her place and have found balance between working at my job and still making her babies a priority. The care I give pets is the same one I give my own if not more. I make sure to treat them just as if they were my own. I like to dedicate time and patience with the animals, I know some pets have different needs and I like to make sure I keep their routines the same if not similar to normal as if their human was still doing it. Routine is important to me as well, and helps set knowing, especially for the possible anxious friends.

“Heather was a last minute life saver! I gifted my partner a pair of concert tickets six months prior as a Christmas present, and it was finally the day of the concert. However, I was at risk of missing the concert due to my dog, Chaos, having a big oral procedure 1.5 weeks prior that resulted in 20 teeth extracted and multiple sutures. Two of the sutures had come undone causing him to have a painful experience until they were able to be re-sutured (problem solved!) two days before the concert. I monitored Chaos’s recovery up until the day of the concert to make the final decision if I will stay home with him or attend the concert with my partner. Thankfully Chaos improved enough in the final 24 hours where I felt comfortable boarding him. When I called Chaos’s regular place of boarding (Pet Hotel at Petsmart) the morning of the concert, I understandably learned they are unable to accept pets with sutures due to policy. I opened Rover and began searching for a last minute sitter who had immediate availability, didn’t have more than one dog, and could provide extra care and attention to my recovering dog. That’s where I found Heather, who offered to set Chaos up in a pen in the kitchen so he could have his own space to chill, and overall had a wonderful vibe of assuring me he will be in good hands. An hour later, I dropped Chaos off with Heather and was scheduled to pick him up at 11:30pm that night. She sent us updates including a photo of him relaxing in the shade in her backyard, drunk from his pain meds. Exiting the concert venue and getting on the MAX took longer than expected due to the large crowds, resulting in us running late and pushing the pick up time from 11:30pm to 12:10am. I felt guilt and shame typing that message since it was already late in the night but Heather was super cool about it! When we picked Chaos up, he was very relaxed and could tell he had a wonderful experience hanging out with Heather and her family. Although I checked my phone frequently during the concert, I was never worried about Chaos and was able to fully be present and enjoy the experience with my partner, all thanks to Heather! Heather is amazing, understanding, has a wealth of knowledge & experience with dogs, and we happily recommend her to anyone who is in need of her services!”

About: I have two dogs of my own, one of which has had some serious health issues and food allergies and the other has struggled with reactivity. I have also cared for my family’s dogs since I was 16! I do agility training with both my dogs and have extensive experience in handling high energy herding dogs, sensitive dogs who need space, and being aware of dogs’ individual needs. I am in the middle of a career transition and only working part time right now. I love dogs and need some additional movement and pup play time in my life! I work from home, self-employed, with a flexible schedule and am seeking dog walking and drop in visits to fill gaps in my schedule. Typically I have availability from late morning after dropping my kids off at school and can be available anytime into the evening! I pay attention to each dog’s individual temperaments. I know that each dog has different needs for space, affection, movement, etc. I am familiar with different breeds and their energy levels. I believe in positive reinforcement training only and I aim to treat dogs gently and respectfully.
