About: I’ve been dog-walking and pet sitting for several years now! I love spending time with dogs and am having to go for runs or the beach with them, or just relax at home! I’m a second year medical student, so happy to sit for pets in the evenings, as well as provide breaks during the day! I’m typically most open on the weekends but am open to weekdays as well. I will follow directions closely and respect your home like it is my home! I like to do frequent check-ins and am happy to do a meet and greet beforehand.
“Meagan did an AMAZING job caring for my guinea pigs. She even was able to give one of them the medicine he needs even though he can be a bit squirmy!! She was thorough, responsive and caring. I would highly recommend her!!”

“Our kitty doesn’t usually love strangers but he was very friendly with Paige! Highly recommend Paige, followed through on everything we discussed, took wonderful care of our cat and shared great reports & pictures. Thanks Paige!!! ♥️”

“Jesika is WONDERFUL! We were able to enjoy time away knowing our dog, Penny, was in such capable hands. Jesika is an outstanding communicator, she goes above and beyond, and Penny absolutely adored her! Thank you Jesika!”

“Julia was great with my cat Frankie who usually dislikes everyone but me, which made the 10 days I was away so much less stressful! Julia sent daily updates and photos and I was so happy to see how well Frankie was doing with her. I definitely look forward to booking with Julia again in the future.”

“Destiny did a wonderful job pet sitting for Ted & Frida. She was very attentive and understanding of Ted’s anxious demeanor around new people. They both were very well taken care of while we were away. I would 100% recommend her!”

“Jackiellen was fantastic! Super attentive to the animals needs, always early to appointments and sent detailed updates everyday. My wife and I had never used a pet sitter before and Jackiellen really put our minds at easy. Our pets were extremely well taken care of and she even brought in our mail and shoveled the walk during the worst snow storm of the year! Jackiellen sets the bar high and exceeds expectations on all fronts. All around fantastic experience, highly recommend and will definitely book again!”

“Carlie was great with Hank and Marshmallow while we were away! She gave great updates and was very responsive when contacting her and with the meet and greet.”

“Lindsay took amazing care of our cats while we were away for a long weekend! This was our first experience using Rover, and Lindsay was thoughtful and communicative throughout the entire process. We loved the photo updates and reports that she left each day. When one of the cats had stomach issues, she was quick to let us know and respond to feeding instruction changes. We will absolutely book her again! Thank you, Lindsay :)”

“Barbara is just the sweetest, & our cat loves her. Her great communication all through her visits makes it so much more bareable to be away from our furry baby.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats of family and friends since I was in my teens, but more extensively in college and since. For 3 years I boarded and sat for three different family friends. I’ve personally helped raise 3 dogs and 2 cats. I’ve even helped herd sheep and tamed alpacas! I work nearly full-time as a server at a restaurant, so Wednesday to Saturday night I’m unavailable for somewhere between 6-9 hours on those days. When I have my off days I’m usually at home or out for a walk. I’m usually efficient with my errands and have extensive free time on off days. My apartment is a one bedroom, so if I’m not playing around the apartment with the pet, I’d want to bring them on a walk or to the park. I have a very comfortable bedroom conducive to nap time, and I live in the heart of Old Port. Whenever I am with pets in my house I am always looking to set up a cozy space for them to relax with blankets, pillows, their favorite toys. I try to make them feel like a proper guest in my home like anyone else. My apartment is always very quiet despite being downtown, but I would hope to find activities we could do in and around Portland to help keep them active and entertained.
“Hannah was such a sweet babysitter for our cats. She was on time to do a meet and greet the week before, and let us add on extra days to accommodate our travel. She took lots of pictures of our cats and seemed like she played with them a bit during her visits. I highly recommend her service and will book with her again!”

“We really appreciated Marna's communications; letting us know when she arrived and how Alphie greeted her. Alphie felt comfortable enough to give Marna some lovings, which was what we were hoping for. It felt good to trust our little man to Marna.”
“I definitely recommend Catey, particularly if your quadrupedal babes tend toward anxiety or need confident medication administration. This is the first sitter I've ever hired who wasn't already familiar with my cats and our home. I was nervous because of my boys needs medicated eye drops every 12 hours, which isn't his favorite thing by far, and he also generally takes a while to get comfortable with new people. Catey's super calm and solid demeanor was evident from the get-go, and this helped my boy a lot. Meds went off without a problem. Everything that needed doing for both cats was done, and my boys were chill as can be when I returned home. Catey was also super communicative and seemed like a solid, kind person in general. I couldn't ask for more from a sitter!”

The median cost per visit for pet sitting in Portland is $25
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Portland
Hanna is awesome! This is the second time we've worked with her and the first since we adopted our second cat. She was very sensitive to their rocky relationship and especially patient with our older cat, who takes time to win over. It was very easy to relax on our trip knowing our cats were left in such good care.

Carlie was great! During our meet and greet she took notes which I deeply appreciated. I requested pictures every check in, and Carlie absolutely delivered! She was responsive and easy to communicate with. Benji (cat) liked her as well! We came back to a happy cat, well fed, and a clean litter box. Would happily book again.

Molly is a great pet sitter. Our two cats love her. She is so reliable and flexible. Her communication with us is excellent, and her photos are wonderful! We have multiple times and will continue to book her to care for our beloved kitties. We absolutely recommend her!
Madeleine was absolutely wonderful. My puppy Sammy LOVED her and she was able to do an extended evening watch for me and my boyfriend to go to the movies. She truly is an amazing dog sitter! Highly recommend, and hopefully she will see my little Sammy again in the future :)

Jackiellen is the ultimate petsitter! Amigo, our 14 year old cat, does not like it when he sees our suitcases come out to be loaded, but he forgives us every time Jackiellen arrives to take care of him. She's the best and he lets us know it as soon as we come home!
If you’re looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy, communicative, and truly passionate about dogs, I can’t recommend Hannah enough. I would book with her again in a heartbeat and am so grateful to have found such an amazing sitter. Five stars all the way!

Meagan was a complete star! She helped us out at the last moment, and came aboard with a positive attitude and an attention to detail. We are so grateful for her daily updates and detailed notes -- they really put as at ease. Would highly recommend, and hope to have Meagan sit for us again in the future!

We are so grateful to have Anna as our friend of Nahla while we travel occasionally. She faces Nahla's occasional old lady grumpiness with treats in hand and wins Nahla over in a minute. I especially appreciate Anna's use of the Rover card so I know exactly when Nala is out and about and whether or not she peed and pooed and what she ate and when she's back home. To have such thorough communication while we are far away is a great comfort.

Lindsey was professional and clearly a dog person! Our pups had a great time playing with her. She sent pictures and updates so we were never wondering how they were doing. My dog got super muddy and she cleaned her up and also took care of the messy towels. I would absolutely trust her to care for our pups again!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
