About: Hi there! My unique dog boarding/sitting/walking skills and training that set me apart are the following: 1. I am a teacher and my plans for this summer are to spend my days hiking, walking, or relaxing in a fenced in backyard with a pool and some furry friends! 2. I am a life-long pet owner and animal lover. And I can’t dream up a better way to spend my time. Which means at least one of us is going to be in a wonderful mood every day! 3. My entire world is dog friendly and pet-aware. That means the primary focus is fur buddies; what they need, their safety, and their happiness! Pet-care on the days available, will be my primary focus. In fact I may also have one full-time and two part time helpers to assist me with walks and/or caring for my own pets while I care for yours ;) In terms of safety, trust & environment, I am equally as concerned as you are! Therefore, we can discuss your expectations versus my capacity before we work together:) The great news is that I love animals and know and respect how sensitive they are:) Some are social and zany while others need a peaceful routine.

I have had them since they were puppies and raised two incredible dogs. Were often at capisic park pond daily, the beach, or a variety of different trails. We don't go places that require a dog leash as my dogs are trained fully off leash, and that's what they are used to. I of course would walk your dog on a leash if preferred, especially until a relationship is established. They are the happiest friendliest dogs. Perfect for a third to join us. Great if your dog needs to socialize or learn to socialize or is shy and/or nervous. I'm kind and love dogs so much but we have expectations and rules to follow in order to have a good time. I'm a teacher here in Portland and am available after school at 3pm, and open on the weekends. I'm a single man, so I am available to house sit overnight. I treat pets with the upmost respect and care for them like humans. My dogs are equal in my home and have the best quality food and treats, exercise 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and sleep (take over) my bed nightly. I respect dogs well being and put that as my top priority. I talk to my dogs all the time, anticipate their needs, and am very loving, yet at the same time have rules and expectations for them to follow. I'm very good at explaining things to my dogs if they need correction with a firm voice and a loving approach.

From a Weimaraner to Labs and a tiny Maltese, she has experience taking care of dogs from puppies, through healthy and active lifestyles, as well as caring for them through illness and end of life transitions. She is a responsible and caring pet-owner herself and I would absolutely trust her to care for my dogs as she would her own, like a member of her family. Her first dog was a weimaraner Maverick that a partner came into her life with, followed by two labs, Ruby and I can’t remember the other’s name, and then a maltese emotional support pup, Cupcake, for her child. The labs had great lives, playing in water regularly and even learned to have their legs toweled off before leaving the mud room. I had a very snuggly sleepover with one of them once. Cupcake is such a significant part of her family.”

“Julia looked after my cat, Bastet aka Bas, for 3 weeks. It was the first time I had left Bas alone so wasn't sure how she would respond. Julia did an excellent job. Bas was shy at first and would hide, but Julia was patient, after a couple of visits Bas not only stopped hiding but trusted Julia enough to show her belly. That photo told me I had nothing to worry about. My apartment was neat when I returned and she even watered my plants. Thanks, Julia. Highly recommend her and will definitely ask her to sit with Bas again.”
