“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter for Reggie. Not only was he so well cared for and loved, but our home was too. Ellen truly went above and beyond in every way, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. We came home to a happy pup and a spotless house! We are incredibly grateful and would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.”

“Nick was so accommodating and gentle with my senior pups. They can be difficult and very particular. He was so patient and ready to learn their routine. I definitely recommend him and would use Nick again!”

“Stephanie was amazing with Ginny. I had to travel for a work trip and Stephanie agreed to watch Ginny on a short notice. What stood out was that Stephanie made efforts for meet and greet so we both could feel comfortable with the arrangements. I received regular updates and Ginny was well taken care of. Thank you so much.”

About: I have grown up with a dog and watched family and friends dogs. I would love to get a dog of my own one day but for now looking to spend some quality dog time with Rover! I am hybrid with work so my schedule is flexible. I also live very close to my work. Can work with the client to create a schedule best for them. I love going for walks and having some doggie snuggles. I think it’s important to remain consistent with their normal routine. Very flexible and look for directions from pet owners.
“Evyn took a great care of my dogs and my house. She communicated often about daily activities and even handled a doggie stomachache responsibly. We will definitely ask her to take care of our pets again”

“At the last minute, I added a foster dog that had to stay quarantined from Hina. Sky was flexible and patient and did a great job with both my small dog and the big foster pit bull.”

“Luke was wonderful with our dog, ozzy and two cats! He made us feel as though everyone was in good hands and we didn’t have to worry a bit on our 5 day vacation! Luke was very communicative. We will re book Luke in the future!”

“Rowan was wonderful with my cat, Davey! She took such great care of him, shared regular updates, and also took great care of my space, from the photos and updates Rowan shared, I could tell Davey felt super comfortable and enjoyed Rowan’s company! Highly recommend!”

“Even though we were nervous about leaving our new-to-us pup for a week, she was in loving hands with Christina! We appreciated the daily updates and Christina’s (and her son’s) efforts to keep our pup stimulated and socialized. Would book again without question!”

“Jovelle was a wonderful cat sitter! She house sat and took care of my very social, playful cat while I was away. Jovelle is an outstanding communicator, which made me feel comfortable and at ease. She sent me photos and a detailed update multiple times per day, which included mealtime details and updates on play time. I came home to a spotless house and a very happy kitty! I recommend Jovelle for pet sitting!”

“Quanece and Malik were wonderful pet sitters for our senior cat with medical needs! They texted us each morning to let us know that our cat took her meds and frequently sent us pictures of her. They arrived promptly and were very clean and respectful of our home. We will 100000% be using them for our next extended vacation!”

“Molly went above and beyond for us as a house- and pet-sitter over the Christmas holidays. My wife and kids and I had a long-delayed, week-long trip planned to see my mother across the country from Christmas Eve through New Year's Eve day, and we were having a tough time finding appropriate care for dog and cat. Our dog, in particular, was a challenge, as she's highly reactive to other dogs, is not used to spending most of the day in a crate, and needs some good exercise every day. We realized that a house sitter who was really good with animals was our best option. Luckily, we found Molly. Molly came over in advance of the booking and connected right away with our family and both of our pets. She took very good care of them over the time we were away making sure our dog got long, stimulating walks and playtime, and that our somewhat cantankerous cat got lots of attention. She also took care of our home, and left it in as good or better shape than when we left. She responded quickly and thoroughly to communications and proved herself to be highly responsible, flexible and generous with her time. If you've gotten this far, you've probably figured out that we're highly recommend Molly and would happily work with her again when the need arises.”

“We absolutely loved Stephen. My entire household was happy and comfortable with him within hours. He took my dog on great adventures, left my home clean, and gave every animal individual attention.”

“My husband and I recently had the pleasure of having Hope take care of our dog and home for a week when we were in a last minute pinch - we could not be happier with the experience! She responded to the booking quickly and scheduled a virtual meet/greet to accommodate the last-minute nature of our request and we could tell immediately she was an experienced pet sitter and highly trustworthy. She arrived promptly, followed all of our dog's care instructions, and gave him tons of love, attention and walks. We loved receiving regular updates and photos of him lounging on the couch and joining her zoom meetings - it really helped put our minds at ease because he's usually anxious while we're away. When we returned, our home was spotless, and our dog was relaxed and happy. I highly recommend Hope to anyone in need of a reliable and caring sitter! Thank you for everything!”

“Wesley was great with our cat and kitten! Great communicator when booking and during the visit. Wesley is reliable and we would absolutely hire him again.”

“We needed someone to watch our pup for a few days while we were out of town and were lucky enough to find Darina! Our pup Dolly is prone to tummy issues and can be slow to warm up to people she does not know but Darina was not phased by the challenge. Dolly loved Darina and they had a blast hanging while we were gone! Darina sent plenty of pics/vids while we were gone and Dolly was comfortable enough to not have any tummy trouble the entire time. Darina not only took care of our pup, but also stayed at our apartment. Darina was a great guest and left our apartment just as we had left it and cleaned all linens, towels, and kitchen items she used! We cannot recommend Darina enough! She keeps both pet and owner comfortable!”

We were so happy to have found Ellie to take care of our cats! From the very beginning, she was very caring, patient, and detail oriented, and gave one of our cats daily eye drops with ease. She sent a lot of great pictures and kept us updated while we were gone. Thanks to Ellie, we were able to relax and have a nice vacation, knowing our cats were in good hands with her! Thank you so much, Ellie!

Rachel did an amazing job with our three pups, especially considering how last minute our request was. She was super flexible and attentive towards our pups potential needs if anything went awry with our travels. Our house looked great when we returned and our pups were happy and relaxed. We will definitely be booking her again next time we need a sitter.

I recently had Rebecca watch our two quirky pups for 10 days (in our home) while we were overseas. We were admittedly nervous about leaving the pups for so long with a new sitter, but Rebecca quickly put us at ease. She quickly bonded with our pups (one of whom has a lot of anxiety and leash aggression). She kept both dogs well cared for and very entertained. Rebecca also provided very frequent updates, pictures and videos which we loved and helped us to feel connected even when we were far away. Additionally, she went above and beyond to take great care of our house. It was such a relief to come home to a well care d for house in addition to happy and well cared for pups. We can’t recommend Rebecca enough!

Bridget was the best with my puppy! She was extremely communicative and took such great care of him. This was my first time being away from him, so I was definitely a little nervous, but Bridget completely eased my mind with her frequent updates, he had the best time with her!

Calvin took outstanding care of our dog, Toast, while we were out of town for a weekend. He is incredibly kind, communicative, and sent a ton of photos/ videos during the stay. He left our home in outstanding condition and perhaps more importantly, Toast seemed to really like Calvin. We’d highly recommend Calvin!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Philadelphia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Philadelphia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Philadelphia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
