“Nancy did an amazing job house-sitting for our cats! They felt comfortable with her straight away and she kept us posted the whole time about how the cats were doing.”

“Alana was so thoughtful, responsive, and lovely. She came through for us last minute and took great care of our dog Fannie! Alana made sure to communicate when she had questions and happily handled Fannie’s (many) quirks.”

About: I have two wonderful cats (whom I would die for) and took charge of caring for our family dog. I am the kind of person that sees an animal in need and I drop absolutely everything for them. I love animals so intensely, I’m a vegan. I find I have the patience needed with animals to build trust and respect. I adore animals of every shape and size and have plenty of experience caring for them. I am working part time, so my schedule is very open! I am available Monday-Friday to check in on your pet, take them for a walk, feed and bathe them, and stay overnight with them. I very much believe in structure being important to a pets life, so I am more than willing to follow whatever routine you have with them. I will ensure that they are as safe as can be at all times.
“Emily is very good at what she does! She was super attentive to our pup and cats, sent lots of photos, communicated clearly, and took great care of our house. Your pets will be in great hands with her!”

“Gabi stayed with our pups for multiple nights. She communicated frequently sending lots of cute pictures. She also brought in my packages and tended my plant which I appreciated. I would recommend her without hesitation.”

“Brianna did awesome with our dog who has anxiety with new people and was so patient and kind with Penny! Penny seemed relaxed and well taken care of when we came back. Brianna was also very communicative. Highly recommend :)”

“Ava was an amazing house/dog sitter for the weekend! She took amazing care of Archie and Cora and was very communicative throughout the entire process. She checked in every morning and evening and sent pictures, and we felt like the two of them were in great hands! We would definitely book Ava's services again in the future!”

“Sky is wonderful. They were so caring and thoughtful with our pets, and noticed some things about their care that we'd overlooked. We are really grateful to have found Sky!”

“Alison was great! She took amazing care of my pets and was very responsive. It was so hot and she made sure my dogs went out plenty but didn’t get too hot. Would definitely recommend Alison, I’ll definitely use her again!”

About: I have experience taking care of dogs, cats, and even reptiles! I grew up with all three in the home and feel comfortable with the more challenging situations, such as senior animals or puppies in need of training, medically complex pets, or skittish animals. I'm a runner and hiker, and I love taking pets with me if they are up for the exercise, though I am equally happy to lounge around to give belly rubs! I am currently a full time student; I have one class a day and a graduate assistant position that allows me to work remotely. I have plenty of daytime availability that allows me to take your pet on walks or keep them company in your home. I am punctual, dedicated, and patient. I'm happy to set up face-to-face meetings before booking to meet you and your pet to see if I am the right fit. My own routine is flexible and I have no problem adapting to meet the needs of your pet.
“Ashley was professional, timely, and made sure to update me about my cats while I was out of state. I also have carnivorous plants which need some special care and they were cared for well! I was able to relax and enjoy my trip knowing my animals were cared for. Thank you!”

“We absolutely loved Stephen. My entire household was happy and comfortable with him within hours. He took my dog on great adventures, left my home clean, and gave every animal individual attention.”

“Stephanie stayed with our cat and senior pup for a week while we were on vacation. She was so wonderful! Stephanie took great care of our boys, house, and plants. She was very communicative and gave us daily updates on how everything was going. This allowed us to relax on our vacation knowing that our pets were in good hands. We will definitely be booking Stephanie again in the future and would highly recommend her for pet/house sitting! Thank you again for everything Stephanie!”
“Amber is great! She was extremely professional, prompt, and very communicative during her stay. We really appreciated that she was able to book somewhat last minute over the holidays! We also loved all the pictures she took of our pup. We highly recommend her!”

“Courteney This was our first time having Courteney dog sit our pups. After reading several of her reviews which were excellent we hired her to stay at our home for five days. We have a senior pup plus an active 6 year old. She was on time, communicated and daily updates with tons of pics of our fur babies. My pups fell in love with her and she was in tune to all their needs. We are thrilled and will definitely hire her again and again.”

“Quanece and Malik were great! Our dogs have previously been more anxious but during their time with Quanece and Malik they were back to their typical behavior and temperament much sooner. They clearly enjoyed their time and knowing they were so well taken care of helped alleviate our concerns while away. We look forward to having them spend time with our pups again soon!”

“Carismeldi is AMAZING!! We have never had a more caring, respectful & communicative sitter. She sent us very detailed updates and tons of photos which really put our mind at ease. Our house was spotless when we returned and Tyson seemed to have a great time with her. We are looking forward to booking with her again!”

Attentive, responsive, and great with my cats! I would definitely hire again. Danielle has a very nice demeanor that allows them to approach her easily. She took great care of my home and sent me updates with pics daily. I felt at ease knowing she was taking care of them.

I truly can’t recommend her enough! She stepped in at the last minute when I needed a sitter for a girls’ weekend, and from the second she met my dog, Aspen, I knew I had found the right person. Aspen instantly felt comfortable with her, and it was obvious the feeling was mutual. Watching him warm up to her so quickly put my mind at ease. As a first time dog mom, leaving Aspen with someone in my home for the very first time was incredibly nerve-racking. She completely exceeded my expectations. She kept me updated throughout the entire stay with lots of messages and pictures, which helped me relax and actually enjoy my trip. She even took Aspen out for a pup cup, and that small gesture meant so much because it showed how much she genuinely cared for him. When I came home, Aspen was happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved. She treated him like family, and that’s all any pet parent could ask for. If you’re looking for someone who is kind, dependable, communicative, and will love your pet as if they’re her own, look no further. We’ll absolutely be booking with her again. Thank you for making Aspen’s first sitting experience—and mine—such an amazing one!

Kirsten was great with Ernie! He has bad separation-related stress, and she made us feel so at ease while we were gone. She provided consistent updates and made sure to follow everything Ernie needed for his routine and comfort. Highly recommend and would happily use her again when we travel in the future!

Audrey and Gabi were absolutely phenomenal!! They stayed in our home for a week and I could not have asked for better sitters. Our dog Zuko is not always the easiest but they handled him perfectly. They gave him so much love and affection and were able to give him his medication when needed. There was great communication, flexibility with our travel plans and so many photo updates! Our home is exactly as we left it. Even our very shy cat warmed up to them! Truly the best part is how calm Zuko has been upon our return, we have honestly never had him transition so well. Would absolutely recommend!!!!

Melissa boarded our dog and we were so happy with her care again! Lucy was clearly very well cared for, we received lots of pictures and Melissa was extremely accommodating, flexible and communicative! Her home is also really great: very clean and a great little outdoor space Thank you again, Melissa!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Spruce Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Spruce Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Spruce Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
