“Rowan was great once again! She stayed with our dogs for the weekend and did a great job with both of them. She was an excellent house guest as well! Looking forward to having Rowan watch our pups again :)”

“Booked Stefan last minute and has my fingers crossed behind my back, but no need! Proactively Stefan made the effort to travel to meet my dog prior to booking. He was communicative and kind, will re-book certainly.”

“Ellen was absolutely amazing! Super flexible with some strange arrangements helping us look after our dog in a downtown hotel. Very kind and Poppy took to her immediately. Would highly highly recommend.”

“Stella had an extended stay with our pup and she was so wonderful at making sure our baby felt comfortable while we were gone. It was our first time being away so we were understandably anxious about how Philomena would do but Stella sent us loads of updates, photos and videos. Our pup had a wonderful staycation all thanks to her!!!”

“Evyn took a great care of my dogs and my house. She communicated often about daily activities and even handled a doggie stomachache responsibly. We will definitely ask her to take care of our pets again”

“Zoe stepped in for us when a sitter had to cancel last-minute and she was excellent! It was our first time leaving our pup with someone overnight and it was a great success. Our dog has bad separation anxiety and we were so grateful Zoe was able to hang with him the entire time we were away. She followed our instructions and was easy to communicate with, punctual, and very kind. We’d absolutely hire her again!”

“Nick was so accommodating and gentle with my senior pups. They can be difficult and very particular. He was so patient and ready to learn their routine. I definitely recommend him and would use Nick again!”

“Jovelle was a wonderful cat sitter! She house sat and took care of my very social, playful cat while I was away. Jovelle is an outstanding communicator, which made me feel comfortable and at ease. She sent me photos and a detailed update multiple times per day, which included mealtime details and updates on play time. I came home to a spotless house and a very happy kitty! I recommend Jovelle for pet sitting!”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Care for Our Dogs and Cat! Rachel is an absolutely incredible pet sitter and we cannot recommend her highly enough! We left her with a detailed care routine for our two dogs and our cat, and she executed everything flawlessly in addition to communicating in a consistent and professional manner. She managed all of their specific needs perfectly, from administering morning medication to carefully weighing out kibble on the food scale to support my dog's weight loss journey and adding their specific daily supplements. She also kept up with their strict routine of four daily potty breaks at our rooftop dog park , always making sure they were safely geared up in their harnesses. Our cat was equally pampered with daily wet food and perfectly maintained litter boxes. Rachel even took the time to familiarize herself with our emergency evacuation plans , including locating our cat's carrier, which gave us immense peace of mind while we were away for the first time since owning all 3 of these animals. It is so clear that Rachel truly cares about the safety and well-being of the animals she watches. We returned to our apartment to find three very happy, relaxed pets who had clearly been given top-tier care during her stay. If you are looking for someone who will go above and beyond to treat your pets like her own, Rachel is the one!”

“Ashley was terrific with my older dog for 2 nights...We got lots of updates--with photos..which I loved. I came home to a house in perfect condition and a very happy dog. Would not hesitate to recommend.”

“Quanece & Malik were available last minute when I needed someone to watch my dog for a few hours. They were responsive, followed all my directions, and sent updates throughout the day. I’ve booked with them a few times, and I would definitely do it again.”

“Kristen was great from the meet & greet forward. At the meet & greet when I suggested a quick walk to shiw her where we go she took the leash and started harnessing Captain up. Was responsive, pleasant and a pleasure to deal with. I set a cadence expectation on check ins and she went above and with pictures. You can tell she respected my home during the stay. The most important part of knowing she did a good job was that Captain, while estatic to see me, was mopey the next day and you can tell he misses Kristen already. I will 100% be utilizing Kristen in the future.”

“Stephanie was amazing with Ginny. I had to travel for a work trip and Stephanie agreed to watch Ginny on a short notice. What stood out was that Stephanie made efforts for meet and greet so we both could feel comfortable with the arrangements. I received regular updates and Ginny was well taken care of. Thank you so much.”

“Emily is amazing. My dog can be extremely stubborn when she doesn’t want to go out but Emily was undeterred. Winnie also hates thunderstorms and there were several while Emily was watching her and Emily was so attentive to keeping Winnie calm during the storms. Emily also sent great photos and regular updates. I felt super at ease knowing Winnie was in Emily’s hands!”

“Makensi was amazing! She was very flexible and communicative throughout her time watching our dog Pegasus. She even handled a last minute injury right before we left that required her to give Pegasus medicine and take on/off a cone. We highly recommend Makensi and hope to book her again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rittenhouse
Outstanding! Marcella went above and beyond! Right from the start she noticed my door handle was loose and fixed it. She updated me often, walked my dog Pepper and kept her occupied and safe. She even comforted her when there was a crazy storm outside (she usually doesn’t care about storms) 10/10. She is so sweet and kind. Would absolutely recommend!

Mathilde was excellent - she was very communicative throughout and went above and beyond, trying to make sure my dog Molly (who can be picky eating) ate her food and took her medicine, and got her fill of walks and outdoor time. She also comforted Molly during a thunderstorm and shared great photos from the walk. Mathilde is a superstar!

Lillie did a great job with her drop in and overnight visit with our Lexi. She is a very conscientious individual who kept us well Informed of everything that was happening while we were away. We felt extremely comfortable with her caring for our 15 year old cockapoo while we were away and we definitely will use her again in the future. Beth
Richard was so amazing with my dog, Nina! I felt so relieved to have him watch her. It’s so clear he is a caring and thoughtful pet sitter. Nina is older and has a few special needs which he managed really kindly. Nina absolutely loved him! I will be rebooking Richard in the future for my sittings.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rittenhouse walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rittenhouse maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rittenhouse choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
