“Cannot say great enough things about Gabrielle! She took wonderful care of my pups. One of my pups is challenging but she handled it with ease. I would highly recommend Gabrielle!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Kathy! She took such great care of our dog, Rocky, visiting three times a day and keeping us updated with excellent communication. She even went above and beyond to handle some unexpected tummy issues with care and attention. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Rocky was in such loving and capable hands. We highly recommend Kathy to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate pet sitter!”

“Kiara did a wonderful job caring for my dog and cat last weekend, keeping them on a good feeding and walking schedule, hanging out with them, and providing medicine to my cat. She was responsive in a very timely manner, keeping me posted on how things were going throughout the weekend, with texts ad photos. My house was in perfect shape when I got home and my dog and cat were happy -- the best evidence that they had been well cared for and completely at ease with their sitter. Thanks, Kiara!!”

“Alexandria was so great with my dog Neko. She was affectionate and caring with her, and she communicated well with me, to make me feel at ease for leaving her. Alexandria followed all my instructions and was very friendly and personable too. I also really like that she was able to be at my house with my dog for almost the whole stay. That's a very big plus when you have a dog with separation anxiety! I would definitely book her again!”

“Katie was an excellent dog sitter! She was communicative, thoughtful, and made sure that my anxious pup maintained her routine - it really felt like a seamless continuation of her life. Looking forward to working with Katie again in the future!”

“Luke was incredible! We were gone for 5 days, entrusting our large, high energy, chaotic dog and 2 cats with Luke. Luke kept us apprised of any issues, while also fostering a sense of trust. I highly recommend Luke!”

“I've had Peter petsit for a year or two now, and he's fantastic. He's responsive, timely, trustworthy, and communicative. You can tell he really cares about the animals and treats them like family. Peter goes above and beyond, and he's helped us with a crisis or two while we were out of town. He did really well with my reactive dog (who loved him despite being aloof with most people) as well as my new puppy. Peter is my go-to for pet care and once you hire him, I'm sure he'll be yours too!”

“Alexys did a great job with our kitten and puppy. She kept us updated on how they were doing. Our puppy is skittish around new people and things and she was able to win him over. She was also very professional and our home was as we left it. We will be using her again in a few days after having her here for the past week.”

“Amanda went above and beyond in caring for North. She sent me photos several times a day, including during walks, and North seemed very happy to spend time with her. She left my home in perfect condition, and I feel confident that North was very well taken care of. I highly recommend Amanda to other pet owners, and I will absolutely hire her again! Thank you, Amanda!”

“We’re so glad Anthony was able to stay with our little dog while we were out of town! He kept us updated the entire time and it was easy to relax on our vacation knowing Sunny was in great hands.”

“Emily came through once again for Mr. Max! I felt so bad because I had just gotten him a new brand/flavor of chews and they just did not mix well with Max's belly, so Emily had to deal with a puppy with bubble guts! But Emily took it in stride, even made some white rice for him and by the next day he was back to his high energy, zoomie running, constant tug of war self. Thank you Emily for making this puppy mom feel at ease!”

“Makaylah was great for Marcus. I really appreciated that she stuck to his puppy routine while I was gone so that he right away felt comfortable and safe with her. Even the staff in the front office of my building remarked how happy Marcus looked whenever they saw her coming in and out of the building with him on walks. She also went the extra mile and washed the sheets and remade the bed before she left. I will definitely request her for Marcus again!”

“Princess is fantastic! She took such great care of both Blu and Leo, even with some changes to their routine. She’s always flexible, super attentive, and makes sure they’re both happy and comfortable. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter!”
About: I have worked with all kinds of animals throughout my life, learning to train cats and dogs on my own. I’m also familiar with exotic pets such as pythons and bearded dragons. I can comfortably administer different kinds of medications to most animals, including oral liquids and pills, sub-Q and IM injections, and topicals. Currently I am available as a full-time pet sitter for house-stays and drop-ins. I often sit for multiple houses at once, doing house-stays for one client and drop-ins for 1-3 others depending on the services and times needed per client. When I meet an animal for the first time, my priority is gaining their trust. I spend time casually observing so I can take note of their personality and physical forms of communication, but I don’t get too close or move too quickly until I’ve given the animal a chance to take me in as well. Once trust is established, we can move on to wearing leashes and harness, medication routines, playing, etc.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Merchantville is $55

Jessica was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond taking care of our three pups, including two seniors with some special needs, and we felt completely comfortable having her stay in our home. She was incredibly thorough, asked lots of great questions, and made sure she understood all of their little routines and quirks. We really enjoyed having her and came home to three very happy, well-cared-for dogs. We would absolutely recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring house sitter!

Sarah was fantastic! She did such a great job with our dog. He has some special needs and Sarah was on top of everything. She spent a lot of time with him, played with him and sent us a lot of updates. She was very quick to respond to all of my communications. I look forward to having her watch our dog again when we need to travel.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Merchantville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Merchantville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Merchantville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Merchantville. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
