About: I have cared for pets for many years. I have experience working in an animal shelter with dogs and cats, and have additional experience pet-sitting and caring for a variety of animals with a variety of needs- from dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, and even snakes! From my experience, I have a lot of knowledge and ability to manage senior pets, pets with special/health needs, and young animals who may need more care. In addition to my pet care experience, I was raised on an inner-city farm, so I am familiar with the work, time, and care that should be devoted to animals of all kinds. I am employed full time as a PhD student at Cornell and am seeking a side job that I could enjoy as much as my current job. Because much of my work schedule is flexible, I will have time throughout the day to take care and spend time with your pet. I also have more availability on weekends. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to follow their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and secure. I carefully follow instructions for feeding, walks, medications if needed, playtime, and any other specific needs. They are in good company with me I’m home the entire day, and wherever I go, the dog goes with me! To the park, walk to the supermarket, to the beach, coffee dates, or simply just relaxing at home. They will always be in good company and constantly attended to! I have a big house very suitable for any size dog, including German Shepards! (I used to have one) I also have a large beautiful garden/ courtyard in which they can safely play with no traffic or problems, and a park right next door! Riss was absolutely wonderful with our two Havanese, Bastien and Tally! She was timely, attentive, responsible, and immediately put me at ease, plus the pups took to her immediately as well :) Tally is still a puppy and actively learning his house manners, and I was especially impressed that Riss took the initiative to work on some training exercises with him while she was here. It was clear that she was genuinely engaged with both dogs rather than simply keeping an eye on them. Riss is also warm, sociable, and incredibly easy to talk to. I felt completely comfortable leaving the boys in her care, and I would not hesitate to have her watch them again. We’re so glad we found her and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, responsible, and caring sitter!
Rachel was phenomenal. She cared for our dog and two cats for a full week, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more personable, reliable, or genuinely kind. All three pets absolutely loved her. She didn’t just stop in — she engaged with them, played with them, and made sure each one felt comfortable and cared for. One of our cats needed daily medication, and Rachel worked closely with us to find the best delivery method. She even picked up the medication from our vet when it ran out. Beyond pet care, she fed our outdoor birds and watered our plants without us asking — such a thoughtful touch. Her schedule was perfect: a full hour (or more) every morning, another hour (or more) in the evening, plus an extra midday stop for a quick dog potty break. Aleta is so great with my timid and elderly kitty. She has very patiently gotten Mona to come out and be a bit more social over time. sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
