“I couldn't have asked for a better person to make drop-in visits on my two cats twice a day for a week. Karla took great care of Brutus and Olive and did everything I asked and more. My cats had never met anyone besides me before, so they were in hiding for the first few days, but Karla persisted and by the end they were (almost) friends. I appreciated the punctual reports and her messages were detailed and reassuring. I highly recommend Karla.”

“Rucha is a great sitter! She’s so attentive, caring, and reliable. When my kitties are in Rucha’s care I know they’ll enjoy some playtime and get lots of affection! On top of meeting all their care needs. Thank you!”

“Gwen was very reliable and communicative. My cat takes numerous medications and she was able to medicate him without issue which was a huge relief to me! I felt like he was well taken care of and I didn’t have to worry.”

“Kaylee was great! She was able to accommodate me on short notice, and helped me out with early morning dog walks during the worst of the winter weather. She was extremely reliable and always cheerful despite the very cold temperatures and snow. My dog was always excited to see her. Would definitely hire again!”

“Graeme was awesome! He followed directions, asked questions if he needed any help, sent pictures of my dogs, which was nice since I missed him. Bear loves when he comes to visit!”

I also make a great snuggle buddy for your pets whether on the furniture or on the floor :)

“Ariana has been a fantastic petsitter, a true companion to our cat during our long vacation. On our return, we found that our cat looks healthy, energetic and in a good mood, which tells me she received very good care, quality interactions and play time. The litter box was clean, and even the floor around the box had no sand. Ariana was consistent in her visits. I highly recommend her to any cat owner.”

About: I have helped care for cats and dogs since I was a child and am comfortable catering to their unique needs. I am a former owner of a highly anxious, reactive dog and would like to use my skills ensuring that your pet is comfortable while you are away. I understand that some pets have challenging personality quirks that require patience, diligence, and care. I specialize in caring for dogs with anxiety, fear of strangers, aggression, and reactivity. I have a job that keeps me busy Wed-Fri 9-5, but am pretty flexible outside of those times to care for your pets. Note: I have scent sensitivities to some artificial fragrances, smoke, and other household products so may decline housesitting stays if those are prominent. I understand that each animal has their own unique needs and personalities. I stay very attentive to the needs of animals and can commit my full attention to making your pup as comfortable as possible. I am very tidy and pride myself in leaving your home as clean as you left it. I appreciate clear instructions about staying in and caring for your home while I'm housesitting.

About: I am a true animal lover!I have a genuine passion for all animals, and I truly believe they deserve love and respect, especially when their families are away. I currently volunteer at the Ithaca SPCA, where I walk dogs every Sunday. This experience has not only deepened my love for animals but has also taught me the importance of providing each pet with individual attention and care. I understand that every animal has its own personality and needs, and I strive to cater to those while ensuring they feel safe and loved. When you choose me as your animal sitter, you can rest assured that I will treat your pets as if they were my own. Taking care of animals truly brings me so much joy and I am beyond happy to make the time that is necessary to take care of your sweet pets. I currently have no pets living in my home, but have a few feline friends that frequent my apartment. I know that a pet is as important as a family member and holds such a special place in the lives of it's owner. I make sure to provide all necessary attention, love and nurturing to a pet when needed.

About: Animals have been central to my life from an early age, and few things bring me more peace and joy than caring for the beloved pets of others—domestic and exotic alike. For over a decade I’ve provided quality care for cats and dogs of all sizes and ages in both my home and those of my clients’. Ten years ago, I helped launch the STAY WILD Rehabilitation Center in Trumansburg, NY, where I gained extensive hands-on experience rescuing and rehabilitating sick or injured domestic and farm animals—including dogs, cats, horses, and sheep—as well as local wildlife. Through this work, I developed advanced skills in administering medications of all kinds, wound care and maintenance, and specialized feeding procedures for high-needs animals. I’m confident in situations that require extra patience and care at any stage of your pet’s life — from potty training and housebreaking, to teething and the “terrible twos,” all the way through the gentle, attentive support senior pets deserve. ❤️ I am currently finishing the final credits of my college degree, which gives me a flexible and dependable daytime schedule. Because my coursework is remote, I’m able to prioritize consistent, timely drop-ins and structure my days around my Rover clients. I’m available Monday–Wednesday from 9am–6pm, and Thursday-Sunday from 2pm–6pm. I strive to maintain consistent visit windows for every household. I specialize in dependable drop-in visits and attentive walks in your pet’s familiar environments. My car is set up with a dog hammock and pet safety seatbelt to transport your pupper to a nearby park or trail if desired! I prioritize safe and secure leash handling, stay aware of surroundings by avoiding headphone use, and tailor the pace and distance to your dog’s comfort level and energy. I understand how important consistency and routine are, and I carefully follow all feeding, medication, exercise, and care instructions exactly as provided. With a background in banking and childcare, I bring responsibility, discretion, and respect into every home I enter. You can expect punctual visits, clear communication, and photo updates so you feel assured and at ease while I’m with your furry family member ❤️. I will treat every pet with the same patience and love I give my own senior pup.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Hill
Riss was absolutely wonderful with our two Havanese, Bastien and Tally! She was timely, attentive, responsible, and immediately put me at ease, plus the pups took to her immediately as well :) Tally is still a puppy and actively learning his house manners, and I was especially impressed that Riss took the initiative to work on some training exercises with him while she was here. It was clear that she was genuinely engaged with both dogs rather than simply keeping an eye on them. Riss is also warm, sociable, and incredibly easy to talk to. I felt completely comfortable leaving the boys in her care, and I would not hesitate to have her watch them again. We’re so glad we found her and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, responsible, and caring sitter!

Rachel was phenomenal. She cared for our dog and two cats for a full week, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more personable, reliable, or genuinely kind. All three pets absolutely loved her. She didn’t just stop in — she engaged with them, played with them, and made sure each one felt comfortable and cared for. One of our cats needed daily medication, and Rachel worked closely with us to find the best delivery method. She even picked up the medication from our vet when it ran out. Beyond pet care, she fed our outdoor birds and watered our plants without us asking — such a thoughtful touch. Her schedule was perfect: a full hour (or more) every morning, another hour (or more) in the evening, plus an extra midday stop for a quick dog potty break. We felt completely at ease the entire week. We truly loved having Rachel care for our pets, and we recommend her without hesitation. John & Pamela

I’m so appreciative Rossy could check in on our dog while my husband and I were out of town. She was always on time for check-in’s and provided photos and an update with each visit. It’s such a relief to have our dog in such good hands! I highly recommend Rossy!

Yazmeen follow all the directions I left and that dogs really like her. It was our first time having someone come to our house to check on the dogs and feed them instead of boarding. It went so smoothly we will definitely request her again. Thank you Yazmeen!

Joey was an amazing sitter!! They gave very detailed accounts of their visits, and made sure to keep me updated on anything of note. I really appreciated the thoroughness of their care and their commitment to building a relationship with my cat! Furthermore, they were extremely accommodating when I had to make last minute changes to my booking, which was a headache saved!

Gianni did a fantastic job with our cat while we were out of town. He was very reliable with his check-ins, updates, and making sure that Baloo had everything that he needed. Even better, our shy cat seemed to love Gianni and enjoy his visits. We definitely recommend him.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
