“Great cat sitter! Karla was very communicative and left me feeling assured that my kitty (Josie) was getting the very best care. She sent pictures and a short update with every drop-in visit. It was clear from the pictures that Josie was completely relaxed and happy around her. My cat has asthma and requires an inhaler twice a day. Even though Karla wasn't able to practice administering the inhaler during the meet & greet, she did fantastic during her visits. I'm always concerned leaving Josie with someone new due to her inhaler, but I did not have to worry about that with Karla. Karla was fantastic and I will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future when I need someone to look after my kitty.”

About: Hello! Growing up my family always had dogs and my favorite thing to do is brush them. I’ve been dog sitting consistently since high school. I have experience with large reactive dogs, so whether you have an angel or a problem child Ive got plenty of love and patience for them:) I have one kitty at home and no dogs. I tried walking the cat but she’s determined to stay indoors so here I am! I’m happily self employed! That means my schedule can be whatever it needs to be. No time is off limits. But I do have a special place in my heart for morning walks because they start my day on the right foot. I will follow your instructions to a T! Nobody knows your pet better than you do, so to keep them happy and safe I will defer to your instructions.
“Riss was absolutely wonderful with our two Havanese, Bastien and Tally! She was timely, attentive, responsible, and immediately put me at ease, plus the pups took to her immediately as well :) Tally is still a puppy and actively learning his house manners, and I was especially impressed that Riss took the initiative to work on some training exercises with him while she was here. It was clear that she was genuinely engaged with both dogs rather than simply keeping an eye on them. Riss is also warm, sociable, and incredibly easy to talk to. I felt completely comfortable leaving the boys in her care, and I would not hesitate to have her watch them again. We’re so glad we found her and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, responsible, and caring sitter!”

“Sarah was great. She visited my cat while I was out of town, took care of all of her needs and beyond, brushed her and even gave her some outside time. The many photos she took helped me feel like Faye was well taken care of. I couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitting experience. Thank you, Sarah!”

About: I have been caring for dogs since we got our own pet dog when I was 8. Since then, we have fostered many puppies, and I have become a volunteer raiser and sitter for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I have lots of experience with different kinds of pet care for all kinds of different pets. I am a senior student at Ithaca College with a very light schedule this semester! I would love to spend my free time caring for your pets. I am familiar with exercising and entertaining pets, or practicing any training you may request. I also make a great snuggle buddy for your pets whether on the furniture or on the floor :)

About: I am starting my Rover journey and have experience raising my 5-year-old dog since he was a puppy. I am also comfortable handling other cats and dogs as I work with them frequently as a vet assistant. I am mainly open to drop-in visits and dog walking. I am free to do drop-ins and walk your pets generally on weekends. I can also do the same services from Monday to Friday, but only after 5pm. I love all pets so you can trust me to be patient and caring of your furry babies! I will play with your pets and give them all the love and praise that they deserve.
“Stephanie took good care of my cat, I returned to find him healthy and happy and meanwhile photos and videos let me know things were going well. She also left the house in perfect condition. I'll look forward to next time!”
“Ariana was fantastic! She was extremely communicative and gave very detailed updates. My cat is very shy around new people and she was very accommodating of this. She made sure to ask me lots of questions so that she could make my cat as comfortable as possible, which I greatly appreciated. I would definitely book with Ariana again.”

About: Animals have been central to my life from an early age, and few things bring me more peace and joy than caring for the beloved pets of others—domestic and exotic alike. For over a decade I’ve provided quality care for cats and dogs of all sizes and ages in both my home and those of my clients’. Ten years ago, I helped launch the STAY WILD Rehabilitation Center in Trumansburg, NY, where I gained extensive hands-on experience rescuing and rehabilitating sick or injured domestic and farm animals—including dogs, cats, horses, and sheep—as well as local wildlife. Through this work, I developed advanced skills in administering medications of all kinds, wound care and maintenance, and specialized feeding procedures for high-needs animals. I’m confident in situations that require extra patience and care at any stage of your pet’s life — from potty training and housebreaking, to teething and the “terrible twos,” all the way through the gentle, attentive support senior pets deserve. ❤️ I am currently finishing the final credits of my college degree, which gives me a flexible and dependable daytime schedule. Because my coursework is remote, I’m able to prioritize consistent, timely drop-ins and structure my days around my Rover clients. I’m available Monday–Wednesday from 9am–6pm, and Thursday-Sunday from 2pm–6pm. I strive to maintain consistent visit windows for every household. I specialize in dependable drop-in visits and attentive walks in your pet’s familiar environments. My car is set up with a dog hammock and pet safety seatbelt to transport your pupper to a nearby park or trail if desired! I prioritize safe and secure leash handling, stay aware of surroundings by avoiding headphone use, and tailor the pace and distance to your dog’s comfort level and energy. I understand how important consistency and routine are, and I carefully follow all feeding, medication, exercise, and care instructions exactly as provided. With a background in banking and childcare, I bring responsibility, discretion, and respect into every home I enter. You can expect punctual visits, clear communication, and photo updates so you feel assured and at ease while I’m with your furry family member ❤️. I will treat every pet with the same patience and love I give my own senior pup.
About: I’ve had dogs my entire life, and dogsitted for family and friends as well. I am an easy going, attentive and caring person, who will never leave the dogs side! They are in good company with me I’m home the entire day, and wherever I go, the dog goes with me! To the park, walk to the supermarket, to the beach, coffee dates, or simply just relaxing at home. They will always be in good company and constantly attended to! I have a big house very suitable for any size dog, including German Shepards! (I used to have one) I also have a large beautiful garden/ courtyard in which they can safely play with no traffic or problems, and a park right next door! I go running daily so if they’re active dogs they can join me with great pleasure! Or just a long leisurely walk, I’m quite an active person and anywhere I go the dog comes with me!

About: I’ve dedicated my life to caring for animals and helping their families feel confident while they’re away. I’ve many years of hands-on experience with animals of all ages, sizes, personalities, and needs. What began with a love of caring for my own pets and helping family and friends grew into professional pet sitting goals. Working for Rover is a great way to care for pets through their trusted brand until I get my own small business going, on top of my rescue and advocacy efforts. My experience goes well beyond basic feeding and walks. I’ve cared for puppies, energetic young dogs, senior pets, large breeds, cats, multiple-pet households, and animals requiring extra patience or special attention. I’m comfortable administering medications, following detailed care instructions, and caring for injured or recovering animals, so you can feel reassured that your pet’s individual needs will be carefully followed. I’ve also cared for horses, goats, chickens, ducks, and other farm animals, livestock and more! Over the years, I’ve helped animals that were lost, injured, neglected, or simply needed someone to care, including personally rescuing and nursing animals back to health. I've organized and run fundraising events for non-profit animal organizations, volunteered much of my time at shelters and behavioral therapy and training spaces. I have a special place in my heart for animals who need an advocate, and I’m committed to providing them with patient, compassionate support. I believe excellent pet care means noticing the little things. I pay close attention to behavior, body language, appetite, routines, and changes that could indicate a pet isn’t feeling like themselves. I take time to learn each animal’s personality and provide the affection, exercise, playtime, patience, or quiet companionship they need to feel safe and comfortable while their family is away. I also keep families informed so they can enjoy greater peace of mind throughout their time apart. I understand the trust involved in inviting a pet sitter into your home. I treat every client’s home, belongings, privacy, and personal space with the utmost respect, striving to leave your home just as you left it—or better. You can feel confident knowing your pets are receiving personalized, attentive care and your home is in responsible hands. I’m currently completing my Pet First Aid and CPR certification, insured and bonded through Rover (as well as having my own insurance through PCI), and committed to continuing my pet-care education. Whether I’m caring for a rambunctious puppy, a senior who needs a gentler pace, or a pet who misses their person, my goal is to provide dependable, safe, and compassionate care tailored to each animal while giving you the reassurance you deserve. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily life and something I intentionally make time for. My priority is providing dependable, attentive care for all animals entrusted to me. I plan my days carefully around each pet’s established routine, including feeding times, walks, potty breaks, medications, playtime, companionship, and any special instructions their family provides. I understand how important consistency can be, especially for senior pets, puppies, pets taking medication, or animals who may feel anxious when their family is away. Because caring for animals is a priority in my schedule rather than an afterthought, I can give each pet the time and attention they deserve. I also allow time for updates and photos so you can feel connected to your pets and confident that they’re happy, safe, and well cared for while you’re away. Cat parents share their Rover experiences - South Hill
Rachel was phenomenal. She cared for our dog and two cats for a full week, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more personable, reliable, or genuinely kind. All three pets absolutely loved her. She didn’t just stop in — she engaged with them, played with them, and made sure each one felt comfortable and cared for. One of our cats needed daily medication, and Rachel worked closely with us to find the best delivery method. She even picked up the medication from our vet when it ran out. Beyond pet care, she fed our outdoor birds and watered our plants without us asking — such a thoughtful touch. Her schedule was perfect: a full hour (or more) every morning, another hour (or more) in the evening, plus an extra midday stop for a quick dog potty break. We felt completely at ease the entire week. We truly loved having Rachel care for our pets, and we recommend her without hesitation. John & Pamela

Joey was an amazing sitter!! They gave very detailed accounts of their visits, and made sure to keep me updated on anything of note. I really appreciated the thoroughness of their care and their commitment to building a relationship with my cat! Furthermore, they were extremely accommodating when I had to make last minute changes to my booking, which was a headache saved!

Gianni did a fantastic job with our cat while we were out of town. He was very reliable with his check-ins, updates, and making sure that Baloo had everything that he needed. Even better, our shy cat seemed to love Gianni and enjoy his visits. We definitely recommend him.

Due to Alex's extensive background in animal care, I felt very comfortable leaving my cat in Alex's care for drop in visits during a 9 day trip! Alex was meticulous with following the rules of Rover and had careful business practices, such as staying on platform for all communication and waiting to accept the booking until after our meet and greet went well. Alex was also meticulous with Mocha's care. I have some very complicated instructions for the care of this finicky senior kitty (special food prep, pills, tooth brushing, recording amount of food consumed) and Alex did a great job following them! As an added bonus, Alex even cleaned the floor around Mocha's food bowl without my asking! Would hire this sitter again. Thank you Alex!

Jen is wonderful! She always sent the best photos of our rabbit & did a great job of keeping his space clean & comfortable for him. We had run out of bedding due to my mistake & she even offered to grab some for us to ensure he had his normal setup. Overall would totally recommend working with her(:

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
