“Victoria was extremely reliable in watching our car over two weeks - she made sure she played and was fed and her litter was clean and the AC was right and everything in between. Will book again in the future!”

“Rucha is a great sitter! She’s so attentive, caring, and reliable. When my kitties are in Rucha’s care I know they’ll enjoy some playtime and get lots of affection! On top of meeting all their care needs. Thank you!”

“John completed check ins for my medium sized dog over the Easter holiday weekend. He is very detail oriented. Came to meet me and my pet prior to reservation. Took notes and noted Maddie's routine. Provided regular updates throughout reservation. I will certainly utilize John again in near future.”

“Karla did a fantastic job taking care of our cat! She spent time playing with her on each visit and left us a detailed summary and photos each time she came over. I would definitely hire her again!”

“We'd give more stars if we could! Emily is an awesome communicator and did an incredible job with our elderly, attitude-filled boxer and our orange cat. We had a last minute situation where we needed an extra drop in while we were out of town and Emily stepped in with no hesitation and saved the day. We will absolutely be booking again!”

“I highly recommend Joey. They have been amazing with my puppy, and I will continue to use Joey for providing excellent, compassionate, and thoughtful care. Thanks so much!”

“Yazmeen follow all the directions I left and that dogs really like her. It was our first time having someone come to our house to check on the dogs and feed them instead of boarding. It went so smoothly we will definitely request her again. Thank you Yazmeen!”

“Caroline did a great job checking in on my cat daily as requested. She understood and did exactly what I wanted her to do for my cat and then communicated everything to me. I was reassured that my cat was being cared for very well which meant a lot to me. 🙏🏼 Caroline”

About: I have always lived with pets! :) I grew up with dogs Ella and Koikkie when I was little, and loved walking and playing with them. In college I couldn't have a dog, but I did get my first cat, Oliver. He was more or less feral when we found him but with lots of love and food, he became a lap cat with a happy home on a farm. Two years ago I moved to Ithaca, and have two 3-year old Siberian cats, Nadja and Moose. They need a lot of exercise and play which includes taking them out on leashes to walk around the block. I also frequently cat sit for my friends who have a mix of young and old cats. I'm currently working part-time 5 days a week. I am available for weekend pet-sitting and short visits during the week. I work until 3pm on weekdays, and am available at most times on the weekend. I am more than happy to stay in your home with your pet, and would love to give them treats and attention. I love spending time with pets and can send you daily photos at their cutest moments :)
About: Hi! My name is Emily and I am a research scientist at Cornell. I absolutely love working with animals, and have loved and raised dogs my entire life, including family pets and Seeing Eye puppies. I have experience with all sizes and ages, so puppies and 100+ pound dogs are no problem. I have also had cats my whole life. I have experience with pet-sitting dogs and cats in my own home and with coming to others' homes . I also love going on walks and would be able to make sure your dog will get all the exercise they need. I look forward to caring for your pets! My time in the research lab is flexible so I can do afternoon feedings and walks. I am available for house sitting services as well. I have lots of experience with house sitting and am very adaptable to your pets’ routine. They will definitely get the care they need whether through check-ins, walks, or house sitting.
“Nadia was great! She was flexible and accommodating to my schedule. My cat can be moody, which makes me nervous to leave her, but Nadia provided me with lots of photos and updates. I came home to a happy cat”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Lansing
Nicole was wonderful and really put my mind at ease during my week-long trip. I appreciated how communicative she was, and her detailed info about how the visit went. My two cats were comfortable with her and when I came home, they seemed perfectly happy! It was also super hot the week she took care of them, so knowing there was a reliable, caring person on hand to help if something went wrong was reassuring. Thank you, Nicole!

Aleta is so great with my timid and elderly kitty. She has very patiently gotten Mona to come out and be a bit more social over time. Also, she thinks of everything from treats to drawing the blinds during heat waves to keep my cat cool. When my return date changed abruptly, she was accommodating and supportive. A better pet sitter is not to be found!

Maria was amazing!! She was so kind and patient with my sweet (albeit difficult) cat! My cat has a bunch of health issues, and Maria did a wonderful job navigating them, including giving her meds! She kept in contact with me, sending pictures and updates that really helped put my mind at ease while I was travelling, knowing that my cat was in good hands! She was quick to respond to both my booking request and my questions, and was willing to set up a meet-and-greet with me and my cat, so that I knew she was in good hands. This is the most relaxing vacation I’ve had in years, knowing that my high-needs cat was in good hands. I will never book anybody else!!! She was so kind and patient, and my cat really liked her too! Maria did a wonderful job, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for somebody trustworthy to check in on their pet.

Gianni did a fantastic job with our cat while we were out of town. He was very reliable with his check-ins, updates, and making sure that Baloo had everything that he needed. Even better, our shy cat seemed to love Gianni and enjoy his visits. We definitely recommend him.

Due to Alex's extensive background in animal care, I felt very comfortable leaving my cat in Alex's care for drop in visits during a 9 day trip! Alex was meticulous with following the rules of Rover and had careful business practices, such as staying on platform for all communication and waiting to accept the booking until after our meet and greet went well. Alex was also meticulous with Mocha's care. I have some very complicated instructions for the care of this finicky senior kitty (special food prep, pills, tooth brushing, recording amount of food consumed) and Alex did a great job following them! As an added bonus, Alex even cleaned the floor around Mocha's food bowl without my asking! Would hire this sitter again. Thank you Alex!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lansing. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
