Safety, trust & environment

I guarantee to treat your pet like my very own! I will closely follow directions and give your pet lots of love in the process. For all services, I will provide consistent updates and I will take countless pictures (usually I only send the “good” photos, so please let me know if you want all of the pictures!). For drop-ins, you can expect me to be with your pet for the full duration of time or more, and any extra time not doing caretaking chores will be spent giving your pet lots of love and attention. Drop-ins are my most preferred caretaking option! For dog walks, you can expect updates when we leave for the walk and when we return, and a description of how the walk went. I will also provide any caretaking as instructed! For house sitting, what you can expect will vary based on you and your pet’s needs. By default, I will always give at least two updates per day (morning and night), but I can easily provide more frequent updates. As far as time spent in your home, this will also depend on your needs as well as my personal schedule.

Information Rachel D. would like to know about your pet

For all types of animals, I will want their primary vet’s information, vaccine status, spay/neuter status, any health conditions or medications, and emergency contacts. I’d also like to know their typical routine, so I can keep their care as consistent as possible! For dogs, I would like to know any quirks (for example, if they only like to eat a certain way, if they need to go to a certain spot to potty, etc). I also want to know if they have any reactivity (will they bark and lunge at other dogs, cats, squirrels, etc). The more information, the better! This way I can know what to expect and give them the best care possible. For cats, similarly I would like to know any quirks, as well as their personalities! Are they more shy and reserved, or are they more outgoing? Do they have favorite hiding spots? What’s the best way to win their trust (is it with a Churu treat or a wand toy)?

A typical day

I promise to treat your pet as if they were my own! A typical day really depends on the service provided, but I guarantee your pet will feel so much love they will hardly notice you’re gone!

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Rachel and I am an avid animal lover. I have tons of experience caring for animals, big and small. I grew up on a horse farm with a range of animals, including horses, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, geese, goats, and rabbits. I’ve taken care of my family’s dogs (at most 6 at a time ranging from large senior to small puppy) my whole life. I have experience as a freelance dog walker in NYC, walking up to 6 dogs a day. My partner and I also foster kittens through the local rescue. I have been pet sitting professionally since I was 16, and 100% of my clients have hired me again after our initial meet. I have experience with medication administration, experience with kittens, puppies and training, I can lift dogs up to 90lbs, and I promise to treat your pet like my own. I used to work at Cornell animal hospital as an emergency receptionist, so if anything were to come up, I know basic animal first-aid, and have the connections and experience necessary to keep your pet safe in any situation.

Rachel is AMAZING! She was extra attentive when our cats had tummy issues while we were away. She gave us updates regularly and gave them the attention they needed to get better!

Rachel took excellent care of my two boys. She is reliable (visited at the times agreed upon and made sure one cat got his medicine) and took the time to play with them. I didn't worry about them at all because of the info she shared after each visit. Looked like they were having a lot of fun. One of my guys is shy, but you'd never know it around Rachel.
