“Alex took great care of our shy kitty. She made sure Mia always had enough food and water, and even brought in my mail. She always communicated very timely and effectively. I would highly recommend her.”

“This is our second time working with Sarah. Our cats had an excellent time! One of our cats requires a daily medication, and that seems to have gone very well! The pictures and updates were great!”

“Georgia was an excellent sitter. She had great communication with us and made us feel very comfortable while we were away. I highly recommend Georgia for all of your pet sitting needs! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Adrienne was so amazing with our high maintenance 3 cats and dog! She was in constant communication about how everyone was doing and we got a picture of all 4 pets at each visit. She even kept track of the weather and made sure our thunder-phobic dog had his thunder shirt on before storms went through. We will definitely have Adrienne come back to watch our pets the next time we go out of town! ❤️”

“Once again, Rose has been the best imaginable pet sitter for our dog, giving her love, meeting her physical needs, and sending us professional quality photos and videos. When she's been here, we arrive home to a happy, contented dog.”

“Ariana was fantastic! She was extremely communicative and gave very detailed updates. My cat is very shy around new people and she was very accommodating of this. She made sure to ask me lots of questions so that she could make my cat as comfortable as possible, which I greatly appreciated. I would definitely book with Ariana again.”

“We were away for a week and Karla took great care of our 2 cats! She was a great communicator which gave us peace of mind. She followed our instructions well and even helped bringing in our mail and packages. Our cats were shy and nervous around her at first but after a few days they’d totally warmed up to her and sent us the cutest pics of them. We’d absolutely book her again!”

About: I am a true animal lover!I have a genuine passion for all animals, and I truly believe they deserve love and respect, especially when their families are away. I currently volunteer at the Ithaca SPCA, where I walk dogs every Sunday. This experience has not only deepened my love for animals but has also taught me the importance of providing each pet with individual attention and care. I understand that every animal has its own personality and needs, and I strive to cater to those while ensuring they feel safe and loved. When you choose me as your animal sitter, you can rest assured that I will treat your pets as if they were my own. I will provide them with the same respect, love, and attention they are used to, so they can feel comfortable and happy while you’re away. I work from home and am able to take time for daily check ins and have weekend availability as well. Taking care of animals truly brings me so much joy and I am beyond happy to make the time that is necessary to take care of your sweet pets. I currently have no pets living in my home, but have a few feline friends that frequent my apartment. I know that a pet is as important as a family member and holds such a special place in the lives of it's owner. I make sure to provide all necessary attention, love and nurturing to a pet when needed.
“Look after my two cats for a month, best ppl you could ever imagine, my cats have different personalities and they both love her! Super responsive for all my question and take really cute pictures, would definitely book again!”

About: Hello, my name is Anna and I am excited to care for your pets! I have many years of experience working with animals, from pet-sitting in my home, neighborhood, and campus to volunteering in animal shelters. I am a third-year environmental science student at Cornell University. I have experience administering oral and topical medication to pets, have cared for senior pets, and know how to safely remove ticks. I love hiking and will make sure your energetic pup gets all the exercise they need! I have a car and am happy to bring animals along on adventures. I am a student with a flexible schedule and a car to get me and your animals to where they need to go! Overnight stays are easy for me to do and I often have time for long walks. I can and will care for your pets in any way you need me to! I can easily house sit as well and chauffeur pets to veterinary care or other appointments.
“My critters LOVE having Jenna visit, as everyone gets lots of attention and pets! I LOVE having Jenna come to care for the critter fam as she is reliable, observant, and flexible. She regularly communicates how critters are doing, asks questions if something is confusing or doesn't seem right, and works with my sometimes shortish-notice care needs whenever she can. I feel confident in her skills to manage the bonkers deer dance when walking my otherwise pretty responsive pup on leash. Very glad Jenna is part of my critter care team!”

“Caroline did a great job taking care of my shy kitty! She was very accommodating and understanding. Her communication was great and she left detailed notes after each visit. I would definitely recommend her!”

About: I can't wait to meet your doggies! We’ve rescued a few bulldogs in the past and I am comfortable taking care of dogs with special needs but love all kinds. We currently have 2 senior fur babies, and a young Chihuahua. I have pet sit for friends and family and am excited to make new furry friends. I work a 9-5 remote job, so I have lots of flexibility and my evenings and weekends are free. I love taking my doggies for walks. If your dog loves car rides, like mine does I am happy to bring them on adventures. I have lots of toys to play with! I am happy to host dogs in my home or go to them. Any dogs that stay with me can be kept with my dogs or separated.
About: I have been caring for dogs since we got our own pet dog when I was 8. Since then, we have fostered many puppies, and I have become a volunteer raiser and sitter for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I have lots of experience with different kinds of pet care for all kinds of different pets. I am a senior student at Ithaca College with a very light schedule this semester! I would love to spend my free time caring for your pets. I am familiar with exercising and entertaining pets, or practicing any training you may request. I also make a great snuggle buddy for your pets whether on the furniture or on the floor :)
About: Ever since I was a small child, neighbors and friends have entrusted me to check in on their beloved animals and ensure they are fed, played with, and cleaned up after. As an adult who normally teaches full time, I have house sit for colleagues who have children and take them on vacation while I look after their dogs and their parents' chickens across the street. I don't work summers or during school breaks and I don't have kids so I have a lot of flexibility and free time when school is not in session. I'm great with animals On breaks and weekends, I can make pet care my sole focus. No children or other pressing obligations means that I can give all my attention to your furry friends. I come prepared to enrich your pets time and can read a book while they sleep. My husband can handle my household chores so that I don't have to leave your house if that is what the job entails. The only real routine barrier is my teaching job but that is only during week days in the 10 month school year not accounting for planned holidays, Summer or weeks off. I can prepare food, take on walks, clean litter boxes, give medicine, regularly keep water bowls cleaned and filled, play with and ensure that all animals are where they are supposed to be when I turn in for the night or leave the house. I will defer to client's needs or requests as well for anything out of the ordinary.
About: I have cared for pets for many years. I have experience working in an animal shelter with dogs and cats, and have additional experience pet-sitting and caring for a variety of animals with a variety of needs- from dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, and even snakes! From my experience, I have a lot of knowledge and ability to manage senior pets, pets with special/health needs, and young animals who may need more care. In addition to my pet care experience, I was raised on an inner-city farm, so I am familiar with the work, time, and care that should be devoted to animals of all kinds. I am currently a full-time college student- I have a decent amount of flexibility in my schedule and am happy to work with you based on what you and your fur babies need. Please share any specific schedule needs with me so I know how best to cater to your pet(s). I am comfortable and capable with many aspects of pet (cat, dog, rabbit, chicken, reptile, etc) care- including walking, crating, feeding, administering medication, and anything else that your pet may need!
“Rob was great with our dog! We had to leave our anxious buddy for a very long day, and when we got back he was really happy and seemed rested-normally he would be quite stressed if we left him for just 1/3 of that time! We hope to be able to rebook with Rob again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Caroline
Noah is our go-to cat sitter! Very attentive to the different needs and personalities of our 3 cats. He is patient and accommodating, from the noisy one who needs daily medication to the young shy one who has not yet learned that Noah is a trusted friend. It is nice to be confident that our cats and our home are well attended while we are out of town.

Victoria is an incredible cat sitter. Our cats require a lot of time and attention, and she handled all of their idiosyncrasies with incredible dexterity. We would highly recommend. She was able to give one of our cats both immunotherapy injections and eyedrops. She communicated well and consistently, and we always felt that our cats were in the best of hands. The best, five stars, two thumbs up, certified fresh.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
